Awww I’m glad all of these messages are helping you, as the weeks go by it has just become something I’m living alongside and forget about it alot of the time! The first few weeks felt like the world was over, it will get easy especially once that lump is out. It will all be done and dusted before you know it and we’ll all be here on the other side with any more support you need. Lots of ladies here have been through 20 years ago or are here going through it with us.

Sending lots of love, hugs and positivity your way x

They just said if the grade was any higher (it was provisionally given Grade 1-2 after biopsy and main one was Grade 2 after surgery) or in any lymph nodes then because I was young they would throw everything at it. I was fortunate to have clear margins and nodes. Maybe I fixed on that part of the conversation too much as it felt nice to be called young, haha! I’ve been fortunate again with regards tamoxifen as have no issues with this at all.

It’s wonderful to see how many people have reached out to offer support. x

Hi @butterflywing I don’t think every grade 2 gets sent, it depends on what is seen when the tumour is out and under the microscope and whether there are any micromets in the lymphs which will be determined by the SLND (which I believe almost everyone has). I was Grade 1 so mine wasn’t sent over as the NICE protocol does not recommend chemo for this grade. If yours is sent, you will receive a score, the higher the score the more likely it is that chemo would benefit you. There are a number of threads on here in which women who have had borderline scores, and therefore are given the choice whether to have it or not, discuss their decision - if you’re interested then just use the magnifying glass icon in the top right of the screen :magnifying_glass_tilted_left: and type in Oncotype. You must also remember that before being given any course of treatment, you will have to consent to it and sign a form to indicate consent. Obviously refusing treatment has risks so make sure all of your questions are answered prior to giving consent (or not). That is for another day as you will have your surgery next Monday and the results of the testing on the tumour will take a few weeks to be available. Use that time to recover by allowing yourself to do only what you feel that you can do comfortably. There is likely to be some fatigue as your body will throw all of its energy at repairing the area involved. I was 6-7 years older than you when I had my lumpectomy and started to feel better within one week but lifting things (like full saucepans and kettles) was a no-no for a few weeks as was driving. I do hope that you have family and friends who can muck in in the short term. Also I’m not sure any of us are warriors to be honest, we just put one foot in front of the other, day by day, because we have no real choice in the matter. You WILL be ok, this WILL be in the rearview mirror one day. Promise.

@katie91

I think that’s why I’m having one as well.

I was told on ultrasound that the rest of the breast and nodes looked clear but am guessing they have to be certain by doing the SLND .Am keeping fingers crossed :crossed_fingers: that nodes are still clear and nothing has changed xx

@Tigress

Thanks for replying , you explain things better than the doctors! so thankyou very much for that it’s very much appreciated. I’ll take a look at the Oncotype thread on here .

I like the thought of this being in the rear view mirror as you put it , I think that’s a great way to look at it .

Thankyou for you for all your support xxx

Am so pleased you had clear margins & nodes ,I’m :folded_hands: praying I get the same.

Have read some bad reviews about Tamoxifen so it’s good to hear a positive one . I’m alot older than you so not sure if that’s what I’ll be given as read that one is used for younger women .

Thankyou again for replying yoir support is worth it’s weight in gold xx

I’m having the sentinel lymph node removal and my lymph nodes look clear. I guess they are making sure. I would rather they did it then than go back at a later date.

I will then find out the pathology a few weeks after surgery and know more then.

One appointment at a time.

@hen

I’m the same , nodes looked clear on the scan but I guess they like to make sure and remove the sentinel ones .

One minute I wish Monday would hurry up and next minute I’m dreading it . What a roller coaster of emotions this ride is !! xx

I totally agree.

My op

Is next Wednesday and

I’m

Looking forward to it and not! I want the op and cancer gone, but not the discomfort and affect it will have on my family to help look after me.

Also just think we get this done :check_mark: in January when it’s cold and I don’t usually have plans. So can rest and recover. To be ready to flourish in Spring.

I agree about getting it done in winter ready to flourish in the spring , what a great way to look at it
I had my preop yesterday and was told they wanted me up and about going for walks every day , think they will only be short ones if it’s cold ! :cold_face:

I was also told not to waste money on post surgery bras and just to use a soft front fastening one, thankfully I have a couple of those so hoping they will do the job .

I think the advice we are given by different hospitals varies alot so I’m getting a bit confused whats right and wrong ..

Do you have to be in hospital by 7am ? x

Listen to the one that is in your area.

My bra is needed because it’s more than lumpectomy. It’s reduction at the same time.

I have to be at my appointment for 7:30.

I was told about walking too. So I’ve been doing that apart from today and the post op exercises. It’s interesting how much different information we have.

@hen

It certainly is ! I have to remind myself when I read posts on here not to get too confused and stick to what the hospital have told me and just to take some valuable tips from here .

I have to be in by 7am . I’ve already been told I won’t be first down because of the dye I need injecting so the anxiety will be through the roof !.

I’m sitting here tonight thinking about life after Monday one minute and thinking what if I don’t wake up the next!:woman_facepalming:

I’m pleased pre op sorted for you , I know it’s daunting but one foot in front of the other you will keep moving forward, good luck in the coming weeks you will feel inundated with hospital appointments etc be kind to yourself it’s important rest when you need to XX

I have my dye the day before as my op will be longer and still day surgery.

Take a book and headphones and have a playlist.

I think the same as you, but think also if I don’t wake up I won’t know :joy::joy::joy:. It is a roller coaster and I keep telling myself ā€˜ fish with a line, not a net’ meaning one thing at a time not the whole what if… cause a net always collects rubbish not needed.

We have got this!

Thankyou so much.

I’m learning to go one step at a time and trying hard not to over think . Doesn’t help that Google keeps calling my name but I’m trying to ignore it ! :woman_facepalming: This time next week I’m hoping to be sitting here post op and hopefully feeling calmer xx

Forget google lovely coz anyone can add things on google and may not be :100:%

Go with BCN advice and other ladies whom have been or going through it, sometimes the simplest things are the most helpful, I always went for appt wearing a vest top with button top so I wasn’t feeling as vulnerable when being examined (silly I know but it helped my anxiety) I also asked for print outs of treatment plan and diagnosis so I read it and had a better understanding of what was happening, and don’t be afraid to ask coz knowledge is power it will help you make decisions , it all sounds daunting but it’s honestly not , I was operated on at 6pm and was sat up in bed at 12:30 the relief was immediate, do your arm stretches it’s important so no cording appears as it’s bloody painful and preventable, take care hun XX
