November 2017 Chemo Starters

Abadan, pleased you have phoned about your nose ???hope it’s been ok today. Love shi xx

Morning ladies :relaxed:
I woke up this morning with a really dry mouth (it’s day 15). Has anyone else had this?
?:comet:? xx

Dry mouth is very common, try Biotene mouthwash it’s very moisturising there also a toothpaste and gel in the same range they have been my life savers had very few ulcers and they have healed very quickly. You can use it up to 5 times a day and it’s specifically designed for chemo patients sold in Boots and Superdrug

Morning JC

I had a dry mouth on waking yesterday, but ok this am.

however, I was woken at 2am with a nose bleed.

It didnt last long at all, but was still a bit of a shock at that time of the day.

I am day 9, so assuming I am hitting rock bottom, bloodwise.

I will monitor and get in touch with the unit if it happens again.

Just when I being to feel back to my old self as well … bit frustrating!

xx

Thank you - off out shopping so will treat myself to some biotene :relaxed: xx

I have hospital app today for little problem downstairs. Hope they appreciate my new Hollywood :0)

Ha thanks Lesley,

Could be you have got oral thrush ask for some daktarin oral gel

I agree bythesea, I thought I was in the home stretch before chemo 2!! My teeth are aching too ? Good luck at the hospital ?
Hang in there Lesley as I’ve found I’ve been normal (well for me anyway ?) from around day 10 with just my mouth now not wanting to be ignored.
Sounds a good idea Otter - day 15, so am out & about Christmas shopping. Weather is beautiful here, so I feel I’m getting some exercise at the same time. Good luck with your application ?
xx :comet:??

Get onc to give you difflam for the mouth, 2 bottles per cycle it works a treat. Love shi xx

For oral thrush ask onc for fluconzole too as more powerful thank saltation. Love shi xx

Hello there,

back from the hospital; I had a nosebleed again, so went for extra blood tests; immunity is very low, a little bit lower than expected so they’re going to give me 7 injections next time (I had 5this round); no sign of infection so they sent me home and asked not to worry too much. My nosebleeds are just another SE, and if not too severe, and not too often, I just have to deal with it ??

I also mentioned my one of pain in the chest back on day 4, and had ecg and xray done, everything’s fine.

Also, my blood pressure is too high, but I’m sure and I told them it is only high at the clinic ? I have to monitor it daily and go to my GP if it stays high. I’ve checked at home and it’s back to normal ?

Oh, it was a busy day today ?

hope all is well with you, ladies xx

Sorry to hear the problems that you have been having but hopefully they will now settle down x

I’ve had a lovely day down on the beach, drinking hot chocolate and taking in the rays.

It was so nice to get some proper fresh air and walk out the stiffness and house from my bones.

But I have had a few twinges in my pelvis which I suspect is a reaction to the injections.  Nothing so bad I need to take painkillers and as tonights is my last one hopefully it will disappear as soon as it has arrived.

I am quite excited about tomorrow being drug free!

Anadan - glad you got yourself checked out, you prompted me to check my BP as I did wonder if my nose bleed in the night might be BP related - but all normal.

I’ve ordered a new reclining chair as I haven’t felt as supported as I’d like on my very nice and squishy sofas.  So that will be next weeks challenge to get it constructed and not have a pile of nuts and bolts left over!

Wishing you all a good weekend

Yes unfortunately JC we can get thrush there too. Chemo is the gift that keeps on giving! Hope you are more comfortable soon and that tomorrow’s appointment goes well xx
I too would have rather been drinking hot chocolate by the sea today instead of in bed or in the sofa feeling ?. Oh well hopefully worse 2 days nearly done this cycle ?

Otter, it’s great you managed to do some shopping, I understand about your hair. I seem to lose a lot of strands when washing it - I was advised using a wide tooth comb instead of a brush.
Thanks Chaffinch, it seems just as you’ve sorted one thing out, along comes another. Sorry to hear you’re having a ? day, hopefully your weekend will be better ??:comet:??

Jc, phone onc and get some thrush cream for down below you’ll get hospital strength stuff if you get it son onc and also the class it as infection so best to let them know. Abadan glad you got your nosebeeds seen to. ??:sparkles::sparkles:shi xx

Morning all

Day 10 for me

As has been said previously,   Chemo just keeps on giving!!!

Yesterday was such a good day and then at 4am I was woken with severe pain in my pelvis.

I’m not a whimp with pain - but OMGG!  It hurt.

I took a couple of ibruprofen and walked around until they kicked in and eventually crawled back into bed and drifted off again.

This morning I have a very slight dull ache.

I finished the injections last night, so hopefully, I have got away with just this episode???  Unless you know differently??

As for hair, mine feels very harsh and dry, it’s lost all of it’s condition and shine.

If I was one of my old collies I would have a very dry nose as well

Hope you are all ok  and have a good weekend peeps!

xx

Great idea to make the most of your good days, it’s those that hang there as the carrot when the chemo stick beats us fir the first few days. Enjoy and treat yourself too while you are out x

Morning - have just had my portacath fitted. All went well, hubby took me to brunch after ?:coffee:??
Lesley - I had a killer pain in my lower back last Sat on day 8/10 for injections. I took ibuprofen for the last 2 days and only had a niggle. No pain after, so hopefully you’ll be ok ?
Lost quite a bit of hair this morning and it’s feeling quite coarse
Otter, enjoy your Christmas shopping ?, it’s just good to go out while you can
?:comet:? xx
