November 2017 Chemo Starters

Lol chaffinch it was designer but definitely not designed for my budget ha ha x

You’re right Chaffinch, I don’t mind paying for quality but I hate being ripped off… that goods for anything.

And as for designer stuff, it could get me quite cross if I thought about it!!

I will be searching the net for a much cheaper cashmere hat as I am sure it will be just as soft and still keep my head warm ?

Chaffinch thanks for tk max tip one down the road from me so will go and look tthere xx

JC I just used a small amount of baby shampoo once or twice a week. If it gets dry, you can use E45 or Aqueous cream, but I found after the initial loss, it settled down and i didn’t need to use a moisturiser.

Annakariena i git my wigs from a specialist salon and was served by a stunning young girl with perfect hair which made me feel uncomfortable I said to her do you feel bad helping people shop for wigs when her hair looked so perfect she burst out laughing and whipped her hair off it was a wig and she had alopecia from age 15 it certainly made me feel better and she explained that’s why she trained as a wig specialist x

There’s definitely a lot more wigs out there than you think, men and women … we shall be in very good company!

xx

I can honestly say I love my wigs when I saw onco today he asked me and my mom which one of us was ill as we both looked so well when I said me he asked if I had cold capped to keep my hair I said no I was as bald as a coot and he said he didn’t realise it was a wig so not sure if he was humouring me but made me feel good xx

I had a wig bender shopping spree after fec 1 and fec 2 - amazon rush due to the steroids got a set of tinsel wigs (well it’s christmas soon) a few coloured bobs in bright colours, Just to shock people when they visit really ???going from rapunzel locks to baldie locks I thought sod it, i might as well have a bit of fun with it and not let it define me. It’s still us, just a bald us ???:sparkles::sparkles:shi xx

Well done Otter - that’s 2 down!! I go tomorrow so can recover over the weekend.
My hair has rapidly fallen like autumn leaves in a gale. I still have a bit, but I guess that will be gone soon and I shall wear my winter mantle and be as bare as the trees.
Bring on the turbans, wigs & (cashmere ?) hats xxx
??:comet:?

Otter, well done on chemo 2 now rest up and drink loads!

Lesley, loved the photo ???

JC good luck tomorrow???

Chaffinch thanks for tip just git a lovely cashmere beanie from tk maxx for £20 xx

We are always glad to share the shopping joy ?

Just a thought, is it only Clarityn that helps with the injections or can I use other hayfever remedies?
??:comet:?

AnnaK, totally agree with trying to be a good patient! But I won’t let them get away with lazy slips. I expressed concern that I had brain mets the other day (unlikely I know, but some justification trust me), and the junior doc reassured me without examining me. Didn’t let her get away with that! The Consultant came in and now I have a brain MRI booked.
Have you seen the blog by Liz O’Riodan, the Oncology Breast surgeon who was diagnosed at 40. A friend saw her talk at a BMA educational day and said she wa a fantastic.

Last day of the working week - JC and others I am sure are heading for their delightful cocktails!!

Love and hugs to everyone who has ‘been done’ this week - here’s hoping the weekend is a restful and kind one!

In other news… there will be a lot of steroids bouncing around… and it is Black Friday … it would be rude not to!!

Just ordered myself ANOTHER new wig - full price well over £200 but with the VAT off and BF discounts … just over £100.   Still extravagant I know, but i was paying £75 for a cut (or should I say trim) every 6 weeks and then colouring it myself in between, so it wont take long for it to pay for itself… I will look devine dahling!!! :)

Happy Friday people!! xx

Argh!!! Lesley pace yourself you’ve got all day/ week ha!!!
Love it dahling xxx

Otter I felt in control when I shaved to number 2 and loved the wash and go ease of it (until it fell out lol) my bald bonce is easy too wash head and use coconut wax for moisturiser/protection xx
I remember fuzzy felt had a circus and a ballet one but most of all I loved putting the elephant on stage amid the ballerinas ha ha x

Me and my sister braved the shave on 9th October before my first chemo on 13th October we raised £1700 for Macmillan my hair didn’t fall out until chemo 2 but I purchased wigs in advance the right wigs can make you feel great x
