I kept my tiny tears until I was about 14 I don’t think many teenagers have dolls these days x
I still have my teddie from being a baby, but I dont know what happened to Joey and Jemina my dollies.
My son didn’t have a fave teddy or ‘traditional’ toys, other than lots of Corgi cars his Grandad collected for him which he still has.
I think the more traditional toys may be making a come back - it all comes back round eventually
Yes, AnnaKarenina, that’s exactly how I feel wearing scarves I don’t like wigs, can’t tie scarves in a pretty way, I decided I 'm going to wear my bold head high up! I have a few beanies, long boots and skinny jeans ? J.I.Jane looks here we come!!
Tying the scarves really is quick and easy and can look quite glam. Have fun colour coordinating etc. see if your local cancer centre has a workshop too. Also make sure you book onto a Look Good Feel Better course they often have a waiting list. You get great makeup tips and about £200 worth of freebies. I’m not a makeup wearer but with our pale winter chemo ravaged faces a light application makes you feel so much better.
Ooh Chaffinch, thanks for the tip tip about Look Good Feel Better. I will investigate. Freebies sound even better than steroid-induced shopping online!
Hi SueW, I haven’t come across steroids in a syringe either. I’d be really interested in others’ experiences. Glad they’re on board though, however they get there. Hope you’re feeling okay. X
I’ve not gone for the look good option - not really sure why not??
My CNS said she would refer me for some complementary treatments - I was entitled to 6 and I should have them just before my treatments.
I’ve heard nothing and chased with the CNS team twice, it seems churlish to chase again when it’s a charitable thing… but I’d love some pampering.
I used to go regularly for body massages and I really miss it. My local spa wont even do a full manicure whilst I am having treatment!
My chiropodist said he will look at my nails whilst on chemo but if he is any doubt about any individual nail he won’t touch it unless I get a note from onco team to say he can x
Good evening - hope you’re all having a good one!! ?
I loved fuzzy felt too - I always wanted the ballerina one but never got it!! ?. All my girls had them when they were little so I could play with them and I still gave my teeny tiny tears doll and first teddy bear (a bit rough around the edges with love )
Whoop whoop- I’ve had my 2nd cocktail, it was touch & go for a while because of my tooth. If I needed antibiotics to clear up any infection then I would have been delayed until next week. The doctor checked me out & gave the green light, but it was so busy so there were a few delays. All done now until 15th Dec ???(and it’s Christmas jumper day then too???)
Now on the ? and ?for the next week or so.
Lesley, my hair started shedding on day 16 (last Sat) and it’s now nearly all gone. Good luck with your clippers ?
Otter, it sounds as if you’ve had a better time with no.2 ? and I’m glad you made your hubby shave his head, the least he could do after that comment ?
Loving your look SueW ? but I think I’m better with a wig & hats like Lesley
I was given tablet steroids to have at home for 3 days as well as the anti sickness drip beforehand. Maybe the hospitals have different ways, probably just as long as we get them
Now just chilling, going to play with my dolls now ? (looking more like this emoji daily ?), or see if there are any black Friday deals left
???
Thanks Lesley & good luck for tomorrow. Rock that crop - bald heads & crops are very much in, check out Cara Delevigne (?) & others in Hollywood.
Thanks for dropping in Sue W, it’s always good to hear from others ahead of us. Are you on FEC-T? How have you been?
Xxx ???
Yes, this business totally messes with your sleep pattern. I had loads of nightmares around diagnosis time then slept better once I had my treatment plan but during each chemo cycle I get at least one night where I can’t sleep at all and another couple where I have nightmares
Hi annakarenina, yes I’ve also had trouble with sleep which I never suffered with prior to chemo. I also wake quite often at 5am and then can’t get back to sleep. I don’t usually have trouble getting to sleep but if I wake up then I often have a weird sort of half sleep for the rest of the night. It’s not like I’m tossing and turning and proper awake worrying, but I’m aware I’m awake a lot.
It was worse cycle 1 and 2 so not sure if the Bedtime routine I’ve got into now helps but here’s what I do. I have a chamomile tea about an 1-1.5 hours before bed, then go up have a bath and either meditate in the bath or do a guided sleep meditation when I get into bed and drift off (sometimes I do both). Not sure if you’ve tried those things at all or if they’d help but it might be worth a try. I also try not to eat or drink anything after the chamomile to try and make sure I don’t wake up needing the loo.
Also meant to say if you do try a regular bedtime routine you might have to do it for a while for it to work. I cant remember where I got the idea it might have been the Calm app which has a free 7 day guided meditation to sleep. Apparently your body starts to understand that it’s time to sleep.
Sue, shhhh about the disguises the oct thread will never get the unicorn if you blow your cover ???shi xx
I have found that I am waking early, but refreshed. I’m not waking in the night, thank goodness… but there’s still time for that to kick in!!
Well I have done the deed and shaved down to a number 1!!
It actually felt very liberating and once I got my slap on I think I look quite presentable!!
On the question of makeup … I have a couple of questions
Has anyone changed their foundation colour … I tend to only wear it in the winter, so it’s quite pale, but I think I am a shade lighter now???
Also, when your hair goes completely, where should your foundation finsh? or do you just fade it in to the scalp?
I’ve not been on one of the looking good courses and being realistic I don’t think I can be bothered now??? I’ll just bug you ladies!!
Hope everyone who cocktailed this week is ok and having a sunny Saturday!
xx
Lesley, shame to miss out on all the free products you get nearly 300 quids worth. I don’t go on mine till end March, I wanted to go after chemo for me something to look forward to after this bar steward bit of the journey. From women I’ve seen at chemo clinic, think they blend it in lightly as they go from face to scalp so there is no line and then apply blusher/bronzer with big brush to checks, temples and a bit under jawline for some contouring, there are videos online that you can look up which give you full makeup tips, but please don’t miss out on the goody bag, the Oct girls who’ve been on have come away with lovely stuff??shi xx
I’ve just been checking out earrings online as black Friday deals are still on and I like to treat myself to something after chemo. I may have already ordered 1 or 2 treats but what’s a few pairs of earrings.
Mind you I still have some I wore back in the 80’s ?
Lesley, I’ve been on the LGFB and it is worth going, I got some Lancôme, dolce and gabana, bare minerals, Clinique stuff, along with no7. The only make up i wore prior to chemo was mascara unless I was going out then I’d add eyeshadow, liner and lipstick ?I’ve never used foundation, powder or blusher so found the make up tips about how to apply it quite useful. Since chemo I’ve even foregone the mascara to try and preserve lashes (not sure if it makes a difference) so going out barefaced ?But I do think I’m beginning to look quite pale so am going to start using more face product and eyeshadow and ?
Jc don’t knock the 80’s, those shoulder pads, the hair, full makeup, dynasty eat your heart out ???shi xx
