November 2017 Chemo Starters

Afternoon Ladies, it’s a beautiful day here with snow everywhere :0) Neglected doggy got a haircut yesterday so he’s got a skin head and the snow turned up this morning Brrrrr!!! Must dig out his Christmas jumpers :0) Anadan I’ve had the sore arm thing. Both fecs in the same arm. I thought I’d pulled a muscle but exactly as you’ve described like muscle/ veins too short! I’ve been straightening it and seems to be getting better but moved up my arm now to bicep??? Got them to put MRI dye in other arm as it was so sore :0(
Time is flying by… Booked my pre chemo blood today for Tuesday, can’t believe next week will be half way xxx

Crikey Lesley, your OH sounds more poorly than you! That’s terrible luck. Glad you’re feeling better and having a good clear out!?

I know the feeling, my OH suffers a lot with migraines and is very sick with them completely writes at least one day off. Since I started chemo he’s had quite a few (probably the stress) I keep joking that I’ve passed him my SEs, he also had a bout of upset tummy (again I think it was stress). After chemo 3 I ended up having to cook dinner for both of us as he felt too sick to do it ??but worrying about him does mean I worry less about myself.

That sounds tough! Yes gotta love em!

Hi November ladies, hope you are all doing ok and se’s easing off. Was day 2 of first t yesterday was in bed by 6.30pm body said sleep do I did. Just tip for when you go to t, start senokot son day of treatment, botty back up otherwise because of steroids and antisickness pills, luckily may girls passed that too on too, otherwise it would not be ok at all. Right hold hot pants on girls, 20 Wonder Woman twirls to start the day and bowl of gluten free porridge ??:sparkles::sparkles::sparkles:shi xx

Morning Shi, good to hear you are ok after the T. Senokot at the ready … along with all the other goodies required!
Beautiful cold (very cold) morning here - lifts the spirits!

Love to all xx

Morning ladies! I’ve also had porridge this morning albeit not gluten free. I added some raspberries and blueberries and some milled flaxseeds to mine for the botty. Beautiful morning here too but very :snowflake::snowflake::snowflake::snowflake::snowflake::snowflake:

Hoping to to get out for a nice hot chocolate somewhere today, it’s day 5 and my must get out of the house to stretch my legs day!

Hope everyone’s doing ok and SEs are subsiding, have a lovely day ladies! ?

Which glitter lips today ladies ruby slippers or diamonds in the buff? Got them in before starting chemo to cheer me up for Christmas and we’ll you can never have too much glitter and sparkles ???:sparkles::sparkles:shi xx

Shi, the glitter lips look fab. Just had to google them. Will be buying some as Christmas presents. I’ve spent the day building a heard of reindeer out of logs for my garden display. Ok instructing gentlemen friend how to build them ha! Will post photos when big light switch on. Strictly tonight!!!xxx

Look forward to that, sounds great ?

the glitter lips definitely look worthy of further investigation … anything to deflect from the bald bonce!

Definitely need a pic of the reindeer!

Strictly and I’m a Celeb … perfect evening in with the Guinness!

xx

Bythesea, that sounds brilliant, wish I could get someone to build me one! OH has put lights up begrudgingly ?

Hurrah for Shi making the T-transition. And glitter lips sound amazing. Ready for the Strictly semifinal too. How is everyone doing? I am not allowed to do my usual exercise class for 7 days after the port being fitted, so it was a stroll through Richmond Park instead this afternoon. Lots of fearless deer en route. SEs from chemo mostly gone now. Just the post-port bruising to manage but it isn’t too bad. Hope everyone has had a good day? Stay warm and well.  Xx

Hi Everyone ???

Just wanted to check in with everyone and say how wonderfully I think you are all coping.

Today was day 10 of 2nd cycle of FEC. It’s been a rough few days, physically (I think I picked up a tummy bug ? gah) and emotionally I’ve been a wreck. Feeling better today, so hopefully that’ll last.

I’ve been feeling really frightened, but everyone just says how well I’m doing, which is bugging me, cos I feel like pants!!!

Is it usual to feel so nauseous and fatigued for so long? I hope the 3rd cycle is better, especially as I’m due chemo just before Christmas. I’m so frightened I’ll be rough over Christmas & spoil it for everyone ???. Any top tips what I should push the oncology team to do?

Anyway, I took the bull by the horns yesterday and had head shaved to a number 3, as the hair falling out thing was driving me mad. I feel much happier now & wish I’d done it sooner!! Went out today wearing my wig - first time- a bit scary but it went ok. I found myself in the wine isle so can’t be bad!!!

Don’t think I’ll be continuing with the cold cap though.

I’m already wondering how I’ll respond to the T chemo, and then the radio therapy too - want to run before I can walk!!!

Christmas shopping is getting there, so I’m feeling a bit more in control about that too now!!!

Well, I really just wanted to say hi to everyone and well done everyone - you are all so fab and strong.

Love PW1

Btw, I went on a look good feel better class & got loads of lovely freebies to play with - including udder cream, which apparently is fab stuff for skin during chemo and radio therapy. Thought I should share. The course was brill and well organised, and would recommend to anyone who needs a bit of pampering through all this - erm that’s all of us then!!!

Xxx

Good morning ladies! I’ve been awake much of the night and just looked out to see a light dusting of snow here in Bedfordshire. I can’t wait to get the kids and dogs up - they’ll all be thrilled!

Good to see your humour is still going strong. The thread opened on the constipation page which was a rude awakening at 2am!!

I echo what had been said. You should be prescribed movicol or laxido or similar, take it even if you don’t think you need it as it doesn’t work instantly!

I was fortunate to have a portacath for my chemo so avoided the vein trouble. If it gets back insist on a pic line or port. Some ladies recommended using hot water bottles or heat pad during the journey into hospital and until chemo starts as it helps to bring up a vein.

Udder cream was great for sore dry hands and feet. Also manuka honey hand cream and onicolife drops for nails. November 2014 ladies all used these during T with good effect.

Make a nuisance of yourselves to get better anti sickness drugs - you’ve mentioned emend and metoclopramide but I was also given cyclizine which was good.

For those due chemo just before Christmas, ask if it can be pushed back a week. I was told it doesn’t make any difference in the great scheme of things but it might just give you a better Christmas with your families. My 3 x 3 weekly FECs were all delayed because of infections, I then with onto weekly paclitaxol and missed one completely because my head couldn’t cope.

Anyway, enough ramblings from me! Enjoy your Sunday ladies x

Woke up to an amazing world of white!!! Yes we’d had :snowflake:? overnight. My garden looks like a winter wonderland.
Had an amazing night at the Royal Albert Hall last night watching Beauty and the Beast with an orchestra - went with my girls and I wore Lady C !! Felt really good.
Chemo 3 this week
Enjoy your Sunday Xxx
???

Sounds like a lovely night out and lovely to wake up to the snow. It’s snowing heavily here too. ED in Bristol doesn’t have any only rain and DS in St Andrews has bright sun and -6 but no snow, he’s barely seen a flake in his 4 winters up there, too close to the sea!
Hope everyone has a peaceful Sunday x

Sounds like a magical evening JC!
Just ??very windy and torrential rain for me - not quite as romantic!
Looking forward to a week of normality!!

Carole how are you doing?

Must be quite a few going into chemo 3 this coming week … half way ladies … quite a milestone!!

My 3rd is 21st. Christmas has been a bit different for me since my divorce … so I figured this year it was just going to be another version of different … the desire to crack on was stronger than that for turkey!!

Happy Sunday everyone!

???it is a lovely feeling to get 3rd one done ladies if you are on the 3x3, if anyone’s on 4x4 you’ll get there too ladies on earlier threads have done the 4x4’s it’s just taking them one at a time, hanging onto each other, making sure you still treat yourself and Lesley get some glitter lips, if nothing else it’s something nice and twinkly looking back at you in the mirror, not using everyday as it dries lips, just for extra bit of sparkle although that urban decay glitter gloss I got too that’s irredescent is lovely too. In a magazine a bc survivor has coloured her regrowth crop with a pink colour, looks amazing. Don’t forget to book you lgfb sessions ???:sparkles::sparkles:shi xx

Morning ladies,
Third fec for me on Wednesday, unless I get T early after MRI results???
Can’t believe it’s half way, better get Bon Jovi ready!!!
Poppy wheel glad you’ve decided on the chop and are much happier! As for the wondering what’s happening next, I am thinking of it as eating an elephant! One bite at a time. I know it’s huge but if I just keep taking a bite I’ll eat that big grey, pink toenailed whopper!!!
Lesley third fec on the 21st means you should be all ready for Santa to give you a great big hug xxx. Since OH has been out if physical contact for three weeks I’m sending you a huge big Christmassy hug first xxx.
JC, love the thought of Albert Hall. That sounded amazing xxx.
I’m heading to the supermarket as the cupboards are bare :0( then getting ready for reindeer light switch on tonight but still to paint Santa and the reindeers eyes!! At the moment I have a heard of no ideas ( no eyed deers) ha ha ha!!! Or Ho ho ho xxx
