We’ll done Lesley half way there ? take it easy and rest up ??
Well done Lesley, half way through…feels ‘good’
Glad you got on ok Lesley, rest up lovely ???bythesea please keep strong and positive, they have a whole range of things they can chuck at it, you are just having a bigger menu selection to go at ??otter the 3rd fec made me retreat to bed by 7pm the whole cycle, just go with how your body tells you. ???shi xx
Well done Lesley good to hear you’re home safely. Rest up now.
Otter, the hot flushes are a nightmare aren’t they? I thought they’d calmed down this cycle for me but the last few days they’ve started up again at night ?
???Otter that made me laugh, hope you haven’t got a houseful of guests on Xmas day! Luckily my mainly occur in the evening and at night but it is like the Hokey Cokey with the in, out, in, out as you’re right one minute I’m hot then I’m cold.
Hope me everyone has a good day planned. I’ve just been to Tesco this morning to get the last of my food shop. Will be making sausage rolls tomorrow, starting to feel a bit xmassey now ????
I’m playing the hokey cokey with you Meesh and Otter. I didn’t have flushes on 1 & 2 but I think they’ve come for Christmas!! ?
So today I have a bit of wrapping ? and some mince pies to make.
Wishing you all a good Friday xx
Morning November team, my post-chemo routine is now steroids, bath, anti-emetics and checking in on everyone here (not necessarily in that order).
Those hot flushes are a THING I am discovering. I suspect I am not suffering as much as poor Otter65 and Meesh but it hit me hard and unexpectedly. I thought I had escaped, but nope. First rule of chemo: never assume a new SE isn’t lurking around the corner. I really hope you begin to feel better Otter65 and Meesh. Personally, I don’t see any problem in cooking turkey (other Christmas meats are available) in swimwear and I reckon, in my case, it would keep interfering relatives out of my kitchen!
JC1262, so sorry you’re feeling rubbish. Definitely take time to retreat to bed and rest up. I am surprised by how much I want to retreat and be quiet/left alone after chemo, especially on days 4-7. Thinking of you and hoping each day you begin to feel a bit better.
Lesley62, hurrah for half-way markers. Well done you. I hope you are feeling okay this morning. Brilliant that the PICC made the time spent in chemoland shorter. Unfortunately, my port did the opposite for me! After a lot of faffing and rising anxiety on my part (and maybe the nurses’ parts too), we decided the wound is still not healed enough and there was too much swelling/bruising from insertion to use it this time round. That took about 45 minutes. Then it was back to the hot water in the sink and arm warmer for another 30 minutes or so to allow them to find a vein. Veins in arm were clearly off-duty and not coming out to play, so finding a damn one that worked was tricky. All in all, it was about 2 hours before I was hooked up and ready to go. None of which has helped my apprehension about using the port. One of my new year resolutions will have to be to stop being such a wuss and get on with it. I may need some of Shi’s pants to help me.
Off to do some gentle exercise now (steroids are on board but I doubt it will enhance my performance) and then finalise the Christmas supermarket delivery. Multiple lists may be needed to ensure I can secure all the necessaries with day 1 chemo brain.
Hope you all have a restorative and calm day my friends. xx
Lesley, glad you are home after all that, keep eye on your temp lovely and anymore bleeding ring them up. My trust says even if no raised temp if you feel unwell to ring them. Annakarenina ???the gold hotpants and twirling for all we are worth on the Oct ?is just a more way to try and get through the chemo, I’m a chemo whuss the girls on our train will confirm that, Mrs over cautious pants that’s me. I’ll be ok when go onto rads, it’s just the chemo bit that’s sent me proper ?????shi xx
Docetaxel.
Currently sitting in AE with a temperature ?.
Ps So grateful for the support from this group xx ?
Morning ladies
Looks like its been an eventful 24 hours!
My hot flushes are only at night while I sleep and I wake up all wet and sweaty so only OH aware of it too. Maybe cooking Christmas dinner in swimwear could be a new trend ??
Lesley, interesting to hear about your PICC mine was done in the morning of first treatment, so about 4 hours before use. Maybe I should consider myself very lucky that everything has been absolutely fine with it.
Milliiemoo hope everything is okay, thinking of you ??
Have a christmassy Friday off out to lunch with my cousin for an early birthday celebration, take care of yourselves x
Lesley, it does sound like our units operate along similar lines. I haven’t got a port or picc but went there for a rash after chemo 4, they prodded and poked at it, pulled faces and umm’ and aahh’d too then sent me away with antibiotics, antibiotic cream and antihistamines with no idea what they were treating! They have been brilliant with everything else.
im worried about them finding my veins when I go on Wednesday. There is one nurse, who’s brilliant and finds a vein on my forearm I can’t even see and nor can anyone else, she doesn’t even leave a mark either. She might not be working though and it’ll be chaos in there Wednesday too. I just hope I don’t get the potato digger!
Milliemoo, hope you’re ok, we’re all thinking of you!
Millemoo, hope you are going to be ok lovely, what day are you on? ??keep ?and let us know how you get on ??shi xx
Sending you hugs Milliemoo, hope you’ve been sorted by now and are back home ???
Annakarenina, I think my ? days are 5-8 where I’m best left alone, retreating to my ?.
Lesley, sounds you did the right thing this morning, frustrating as it seems. Take care of yourself, rest up & drink plenty
??? to all you lovely ladies
???
My chemo unit have a doctor there so you have to wait to see her. She was the one prodding and poking, the funny thing is I’ve got my free prescription card and haven’t used it yet as I just pick whatever I need up from chemo nurses! They said to call them first rather than go to gp.
Milliemoo hipe you are home and sorted!
Sweet dreams to everyone, plenty of rest required before the big day!! Don’t peak too soon
???
Hi nov ladies, just wanted to wish you a beautiful and peaceful and safe Christmas before everyone gets busy with family etc. You are amazing and love you ??shi xx
