only just woken up after a very wide awake night. Went to bed at 1030, up again at 1115, did a jigsaw until 2am, toss and turned until about 4am and finally dropped off … woke at just before 10am.
I’ve not had this sleepnessless before, they did give me an extra 2mg of steroids just before treatment but thats the only difference.
I am now dreading the uplift from 6mg of steroids to 18mg of steroids for the Docetaxel!!! has anyone else been given their steroids for chemo 4 yet? I’ve got to start mine the day before treatment then the next 2 days. I expressed my surprise to the nurse and she said it was absolutely necessary, and they have seen people who didn’t comply become really poorly … as in ITU poorly!! She really scared me!!
So I’m thinking of taking up part time night work for the next 3 chemo sessions!!
My Christmas Day wont be until the 27th, when my boy comes home. He always spends Christmas with his dad. And hopefully I will be feeling a bit more human, although it will be day 7 so it’s anyone guess!!
Love and saturday hugs to you all.
Hope Milliemoo is ok and home
Carole - when are you having your next treatment - inbetween Christmas and New Year??
Morning Lesley, my sleep patterns have been all over the place this time too and with the weirdest dreams!!
I was also given the pre chemo steroids to start the day before chemo. I haven’t checked the strength of them just put them away so I didn’t mix them up with my meds for this cycle. I shall certainly make sure I taken them as instructed - I didn’t get the dire warning you did!!
At least by celebrating on the 27th you will have given yourself a couple more recovery days, rest up, take it easy, watch a slushy film or 2 xxx
??????
Chemo the ? that keeps on giving.
I asked the Oct thread about the steroids and Sue said she’d been given sleeping tabs by the Onc to counter it so I’m going to talk to mine about it when I see her next week. I’d prefer to go I pre-armed and not use them
Hi Lesley and nov thread, those switching to t, get Imodium in too. After this diet t, I was blocked up to start with then things went the other way, so up carbs a lot, I’ve had some Imodium on standby too. Used lots of sudocream and anosol and baby wipes to sooth botty. Drink loads and loads to keep hydrated too. Take a loratadine a day to help with pains and also Epsom salt baths. It’s ???swapping from fec to a new one, but it is doable, just keep vigilant on temp and any little thing, 3 t switches on Oct thread ended up in hospital, so please keep safe ladies, we are all getting there step by step and we will all get safely through this and keep those gold hot pants pulled high ladies and let’s twirl ???shi xx
Hi ladies
Just marzipaned and iced the Christmas cake. A few jobs to do tomorrow in prep of our 19 for lunch on Christmas day but lucky for me hubby always cooks Christmas dinner and it has been planned like a military operation.
My next treatment is 28th December so okay for Christmas and birthday (boxing day) but new year may be ? but not to worry.
Happy Christmas to you all have a wonderful time with friends and family when ever you celebrate it ??????
Hi Lesley, buddyfan ended up with a uti, ali and runnerbean were also in, think they got dehydrated with runny botty on the t. It’s on Oct thread about a week ago. I got thrush mouth again so luckily my onc had given me fluconzole to take as you go down quicker on the t. You should have 7 days of injections too and you start these on day 2. The positive is our whytefawn seems to have sailed through ok, it’s different for everyone. A lady I met in the onc clinic had sailed through fec and was sailing through t, you don’t know what you are going to be like till you are in it. But I’m like you, wanted to get as much ready to use just in case. We are all getting there and think of the shopping treat you should treat yourself to to celebrate finishing chemo. Have you booked your lgfb session yet? £200-£300 of freebies perfume and makeup ???shi xx
Thanks Shi, I’ll ask about mouth ulcers as well! My list is growing!
My Yule log might have to reinvent itself … too much air and it’s risen too much to roll … might just have to be chocolate fudge cake! Don’t suppose I’ll get many complaints! ?
Evening November ladies! Wishing you all a very merry Christmas, hope you all have lovely times with your families over the next few days.
Lesley, I am not on t only fec all the way but I have always had lorazepam to help me sleep in my goodie bag and they did recommend I take it. I’m a bit wary as it’s addictive so only take it when i’m taking steroids but apart from the first cycle it has worked and I have slept pretty well.
Hello everyone, a lot has happened since I last checked in. So sorry to hear that some of you are having a bumpy time. I am riding a few bumps too day 3 post-chemo cycle 3, but managing to emerge the otherside so far. Let’s make a Christmas pact to be gentle and kind to ourselves where ever we are in the journey.
I wanted to say too before the Christmas madness/retreat begins for us in earnest, a huge thank you. There is not much about this pesky process that I welcome, but the support, friendship, wisdom, kindness, humour and generosity of this thread and the community that makes it happen are transformative for me. Really, you have made more difference than you can know and I will always be grateful.
Soppy message ends here. Love being sent to all. Have a peaceful and restorative Christmas my friends. xx
Beautifully said Annakarenina, I completely agree. All the support from all you lovely ladies has pulled me thru this far and I know that together we’ll all come out the other side!!
Hope everyone is getting thru the SE and enjoying the festivities!
Merry Xmas eve lovely November ladies! Hope you all have a SE free Xmas and enjoy time with family and loved ones! As others have said, I cannot even begin to imagine what this journey would’ve been like without all you fabulous ladies providing love and laughs. Thank you so much ladies! We are strong ?? brave ladies and we will get through this. ??????
Happy Christmas Eve ???
Annakarenina thank you for your kind words, which we all echo.
Mouth ulcers are not fun nor is the lack of energy.
Wishing you all a very merry christmas, don’t forget to hang up your stockings !!!
Xxx ???????
Happy Boxing Day ladies - hope you all able to enjoy the beautiful sunshine
I have a question for Shi - when you started on the T when did your se’s start to kick in?
Just off to see my nephew who 's 10 today.
Have a beautiful day everyone
???????
Hi Jc, by day 2 for me on the t. The loratadine and Epsom salt baths made the pains doable, for me the problems with botty ring backed up for first few days then it going the other way has been the worst se, so it’s been bread at every meal and lots of potatoes so I’ve managed without the Imodium this first round. Temps been all over the place like a yo yo too. Been drinking loads of water to keep hydrated and clinging onto the Oct ?while ?:female_sign:On the roof ??when you up for your first t? I should have my second on Thursday. Think whytefawn and sue on Oct thread have sailed through it, so the se’s are different for all of us, we did have ali, runnerbean and buddyfan end up in hospital on t though, so just be vigilant on everything. Hope that helps a bit. ???shi xx
Hi JC. I have chemo on a Thursday and SE’s kicked in Saturday night for me. Had pains, hot hands and feet, hot flushes mainly at night. Heart rate was easily raised. Tho after a week I was feeling loads better. I’ve had 2 good weeks on T compared to just 1 on FEC.
I’m on the ? on Thursday with Shi for T no 2.
Just to give you a bit of hope. My hair has started to grow back! I’ve had 3 FEC and 1 T so far. My head feels like velvet with all the little hairs and you can see where it’s coming through the follicles. Don’t worry ladies who are bald at the moment it can grow back on T if you are moving over.
Have a great boxing day x
Thanks for the info Shi & Whytefawn. My 1st T should be on the 5th Jan. I was sorting my dates out and wondered about the se’s as the se’s on FEC were generally during the first 2 weeks with the last week being my good one. Who should I ask for the loratadine - it is in the clarytin I take for 10 days when I’m having my injections.
Whytefawn what did you dofor your flushes, raised temp and hot hands and feet.
So it’s lots of carbs, water etc
Thanks for the info and enjoy your afternoon xx
