Struggling to drink today, tea and water taste awful. I’ve had 3 coffees which is 3 more than normal and had a few caffeine shakes this afternoon. Trying to get some water ? down now!

I’m really struggling with drink - trying to find something that tastes halfway decent.
Otter - like you am definitely missing the vino ?, prosecco ?, decent cocktails ??
Am open to suggestions - water tastes blah, have gone off tea & coffee, squash is ok, can’t seem to drink fruit juice as it hurts my mouth …

Just to let you all know my onc is either switching me back to fec or swapping me to Abraxane for my last chemo on Thursday, he said I’d had a severe reaction to the 2nd t, so currently one very happy shi ???my rads planning went well today, I’m tattooed up and ready for daily Sunbed sessions starting mid feb, I’ve called machine Miami C Zapa. Some of Oct thread have been thinking of names for theirs too. You brilliant Nov ladies are just behind us so you’ll have to start thinking of names for your rads machines too soon ???

Now’s there’s a thought - prosecco into my port!! Have been given suggestions of ginger beer or water with either lemon, lime or cucumber slices. Have tried flat coke ?

I was naughty and googled reactions to t and that’s why after reading them I decided there was no way I was risking the 3rd one, no no no, so gave my onc a big hug again and told him again that I love him, he said I know, he’s a wonderful wonderful man ???shi xx
Shi it sounds as if you have a very understanding oncologist. There are 3 where I go & it’s a bit pot luck, 2 are absolutely fine whilst the 3rd … ? and yep I’ve seen him twice so I have my ?for next time!!

Lesley hope you aren’t feeling too tired? I have definitely noticed I am more tired on T at this stage than FEC and noticed great big bags under my eyes the other day. But apart from tiredness hope this week might be ok. Still have lots of hot flushes and my hands seem to have gone red and itchy,
Strangely I have been able to drink coffee on T (couldn’t go near it on FEC) but hated water for most of last week. Ended up on sharp juices like pomegranate or cranberry and fever tree tonic water. I also found that I could drink a small amount of water if I alternated sips with a salted nut - the salt seemed to change the taste of the water in my mouth.
I had to change nail varnish last week and noticed that the nail beds looked bruised under the nail as well as being sensitive but the nails themselves were ok for now.

Oh ladies I hope you find something that tastes nice to drink soon. I haven’t even started T yet and I’m already off tap water and tea. Heaven help me once the T kicks in.
Also as I gave up cold capping on my last FEC the rest of my hair is now starting to fall out, too be expected. Can you ladies who aren’t cold capping let me know if you have lost all your hair or if there are patches still holding on for dear life.

I went for a buzz 1 just before FEC 2 and then shaved it all off after FEC 2 cos it was going patchy. I haven’t shaved it for about 2 weeks now and it’s holding its own … not exactly growing but not patchy anymore. Still got lashes and brows … for the time being!
Heading to Sainsbury’s shortly to scour the shelves for drinks!
Day 6 for me and still feel ok - the soles of my feet are tingling but no other major aches or pains.
My temp spiked last night - ended up taking it every 30 mins for about 4 hrs then dropped back - all good this am. But for a while there I had visions of me heading into casa nhs 
I’ve got a healer coming from Harmony this afternoon - very mixed emotions about it!

Morning everyone, so much to catch up on!
I am going to out myself now as someone who gave up alcohol completely about ten years ago. I was getting terrible migraines and thought my love of G&T/wine may not be helping. I was horrified to discover that I was right! I hope you’ll still talk to me now you know?
Anyway, I miss the social and relaxing effects of alcohol a lot which has meant two things. First, I am often to be found inhaling from other people’s glasses to get that brilliant smell, especially red wine and secondly, I have tried most non-alcoholic substitutes. I hate to report, there is no substitute I have found that really is equivalent in taste or enjoyment. However, I do like Seedlip with tonic water a lot. It is a strong taste though and distinctive, so I am not sure how it would do during chemo. I couldn’t manage it at the moment, but then I am day 5 post-EC, so on the steroid crash and nauseous.
Remember though: prosecco days will be back my friends - getting nearer and nearer!
Shi, I am so happy and relieved you had such a good outcome from your consultation, especially after the horrid reaction and the apprehension of what followed. A plan to complete. What a plan! I am sending all the love, good vibes and high fives for the next dose and ticking off all six sessions in glittery, emoji-strewn Shi style.
Anadan, fabulous news about being all set for the next dose - being derailed is wretched. And your daughter is a genius who made me laugh outloud.
Elorac, I didn’t cold cap, but like Otter, I have never lost all my hair. A lovely friend who is also a hairdresser came to the house and took my fine hair v. short i.e. a cm to my head when it began to come out in clumps towards the end of cycle 1. She was certain it would all be gone within a week, but it never went and I think it is even growing a bit. I have a charming gap midway through my left eyebrow and they are both thinning, but I am fair, so have never been used to having brows I didn’t have to fake in some way. Eyelashes not doing too bad, but I am moving onto Paclitaxel next and I think that will be when they are challenged.
Lesley, the temperature spike must have been horrible, especially in the middle of the night. Is it all settled this morning? And how was the healer?

Thank you for the hair advice, I have a no. 3 at the moment which has been growing but now also jumping ship. Will get OH to give me a lower grade and we will see what happens.?
Annakarenina I too suffer from migraines, but not too badly, and I too am aware that alcohol can effect them, but I have found that prosecco is fine and also the more expensive the wine the more likely no effect .???
Today is a visit from the DN for PICC flush and bloods taken, tomorrow off to see the onc and Thursday first T

Lesley, hope your temps behaving today darling, my temp on t1 and t2 swung wildly between 35.6 and 37.3 for both cycles. Thanks annakarenina it is a massive relief to either be going back to fec for last one or going on the Abraxane, mishy18 got moved to Abraxane when she had reaction to t and hot if fine with that for her final 2. Hello lovely ladies, I’m from the December thread. Just thought I’d say hello & suggest the high juice squash with sparkling water. I really struggled with finding a drink, nothing tastes right but sparkling water with squash seems to be ok!! Xx

I have been off alcohol since diagnosis and been drinking fizzy water. I think it helps clear the fuzzy mouth and if out socialising having soda water and lime. Rock and roll lifestyle ha!
Hi everyone i have my last chemo Thursday TCHP as I’m Er and her2 positive Invasive ductal carcinoma 3cm Tumour 1 affected lymph node

I’ve seen my oncologist today and my heart results weren’t that good after having Herceptin I’m hoping I can still have the 18 injections after chemo but is there any1 else who’s had the same problem and been offered any other drug to help keep the cancer away?
I’m so worried I’m 34 and don’t want my life to end anytime soon I want to watch my 15yr old daughter grow up!

Did your once tell you you might not be able to have herceptin???
I don’t know of any alternatives sorry but my heart got checked before chemo and then again before I started herceptin. My onc said my heart was something like 67% which I thought was strange as I’m 39 and relatively fit and active. She said no one gets 100% so maybe you’ll still be ok for herceptin???

Hi no she hasn’t said it’s stopping but she did say she’s needs to check again in 6wks probably me thinking the worse! No heart is 100% as she said to me…ye I’ve had Herceptin and pejerta ( think that’s how you spell it lol xx
