@bluehourd
That’s amazing that you have now finished chemo too . Hope you don’t find the radiotherapy too bad! I’m sure those 3 weeks will go fast once you get into the routine of going
Hi I was just reading through the posts from people who started chemotherapy in November and noticed your diagnosis and treatment are very similar to mine. I was diagnosed August 2024 with IDC triple positive grade 2 and currently have 2 more abraxane chemotherapy sessions left. I’ve been cold capping with good results so far. I wondered how you were doing. I didn’t realise there were so many variables with diagnosis and treatments and how varied experiences were.
Day 9 of round 4 of tchp and im so fatigued, legs are tired nd just feel crap was hoping to pick up a bit better but seem to be feeling just same. Feeling so drianed from it all and have 2 more to go xx
@shannon27 I’m day 10 now since my 4th and last cycle and I’m very similiar … I decided to hover upstairs today with my cordless lighter Hoover and I honestly thought I was going to have to phone for an ambulance My heart was pounding … I had to spend the rest of the day resting I think at this stage . The chemo has built up in our systems … the cumulative effect .
I should add that I get a tight chest after every cycle of chemo … it’s been worse since this last one . I did get checked over … I’ve found myself wishing I’d had a dose reduction last time .
@shelbylou81 and @bluehourd woohoo!! Well done on smashing that last cycle ladies !! We are all getting there !!
Welcome @stevie-puggle to the group you never dreamed you’d want to be part of ! We are however all collectively here to hold your hand as you navigate the shark infested waters of chemo
. How have you found paclitaxel ? I had a mastectomy without a reconstruction in September and had my last cycle of abraxane (nab paclitaxel) 10 days ago … it’s slaughtered me !
Hi all, hope you are all coping as well as can be. I had CT scan on Thursday re the pain around my side- still no results so I’m super stressed about it.
I had first Docetaxel on Friday. I was fine for first 48hrs but now have incredibly intense bone/joint pain and pain in chest that comes and goes. I was told to expect pain but I hadn’t imagined it would be so strong- I burst into tears earlier, completely overwhelmed with it. How long do you ladies find the pain hangs around for? X
Hi arty1, I’ve been ok on the Paclitaxel starting to feel the fatigue now though. I’ve got my last one on Thursday ( number 12) I’ve had mouth ulcers on and off.
I then go onto EC 4 x treatments over 8 weeks. They’ve given me an insight of how that may be and said it can be harsher than the Paclitaxel so I’ll just have to see how that goes It goes ok . X
I am sorry you are struggling and also still waiting for your scan results. I had nearly a week of shocking bone pain with my first round of Docetaxel. Then it cleared. They reduced my dose slightly for the second round and that was easier. I was told to take my temperature and if it was ok to take painkillers. I have my third this week if all is ok. It’s been harder to bounce back this time. Feeling quite tired now. Take care and good luck with the results.
Hi @stevie-puggle, I just read your post. I had three EC. I would say, ask for anti sickness med. I am a baby when it comes to being sick. I dreaded the EC. Thankfully I didn’t vomit at all. I did feel nauseous but I requested a load of anti sickness to make sure I could stay on top of it. Apart from that I felt tired the first few days after each cycle and a bit woozy (like I didn’t have my own head- if that makes sense). I’ve just started the Docetaxel and am finding the pain quite difficult
The whole thing is just pants isn’t it?! I feel like I don’t know who or what I am anymore. I feel so unhealthy and scared all the time!
I hope you get on ok x
Hi @flojo , thank you
I knew that it was supposed to hurt but I didn’t think it would be so intense for some reason. Did your pain last a week each time? My chest gets very tight too and I’m trying to relax. I hope you are doing ok. It’s just horrible x
I agree with @sam3. Make sure you take the anti sickness pills. The first EC made me very tired but the second two were ok apart from a little bit of tiredness. Easier than Docetaxel! But we are all different I guess. X
The first time yes. This time just a slight pain for a few days. The first time I felt like I had been trampled by a herd of cows! Mind you this time I had terrible constipation!! I get some tightness across my chest and taking the dogs out has been a struggle in terms of getting out of breath. I am feeling better this week. X
Yes, t you have just reminded me I need to take laxative! The chest tightness can be quite scary I find. I know what you mean re breathlessness. It takes very little for me to get breathless. I know I’m not moving enough either, I’m not exercising at all. I feel like moving a little might ease some of this pain, I’m not sure. My appetite seems to have increased from how it was on EC- another reason I need to at least try to exercise! Xo
Yes i had pain in my chest this time round i was thinking my heart was starting to get affected by it but its finally eased off now. That was a good 5 days of chest tightness, i took some paracetamol after checking my temperature to help with the pain. But yeah im not sure if she will reduce it for my next one. She said she is happy with the amount ive gad that if she reduced it she woukdnt be concerned
Hope your starting to feel better now xx
It’s all quite tough but we will get to the end. Not sure how much of ‘me’ will be left by then!! X
Hi all. I’ve been on and off lurking since starting treatment on 1 November. I’m not so good at keeping up with message forums so have hesitated to get involved. I’m getting more and more exhausted so can’t promise to be a any good now but really wanted to ask a question. I hope that’s ok.
For background I was diagnosed TNBC in September. Have done 4 X carbo and pembro, 12 X paclitaxel and just done first of 4 X EC. I’m shattered.
I’m coming down with a cold. Sore throat blocked nose and a mild cough. No temperature. I’ve never really worked out who to call for what. Should I call my helpline? My Macmillan nurse? The chemo ward? Or do I just brave it out?
Feeling quite vulnerable today. Which is how I know I’m ill!
Hi mumsy, call the cancer triage line, they will tell you if you need to follow up.
Hi sam3, if you can do go and take yourself for a walk. I find this pain gets worse if you don’t move, and I definitely feel much better after a bit of a walk.
Thank you, I do feel like moving about helps distract from it a bit. I took string painkillers lastnight but they didn’t help X
I hear you- I hope we can claw back as much of our old selves as possible
Checking in. Well done to further finishers and I hope the side effects are as kind as possible.
I’ve had cycle 2 of EC and am on day 7. Having cold capped and kept it through 12 paclitaxel my hair is now shedding worse than our elderly retriever’s coat in spring. I had expected it but it is saddening.
