Hi ladies , just had second blast know it’s crazy but am so tired a bit breathless like got a cough prob fatigue I know as still only four weeks finishing chemo but still scares you … I also rush around helping my daughter while I’m off of work so I’m at hers by 8.20 everyday to help with baby / nursery run childcare while she works … Guess I’ll have to slow down a bit ?.. Di I feel for you really I do we all just want to stay on track to get to finish line xxx
Hi ladies. Can’t sleep so I was reading all your messages. Good luck for all as each one of us is going through the mill right now.
I had my 8th rad on Friday, so 7 more to go. A funny thing happened after my 6th, I came home around 1, then had a bite to eat and sat down then all of a sudden I felt like I’d been drugged with a sleeping pill. It was so quick I got really panicky as I was alone. So I lay down on the bed and woke up 5 hours later feeling like crap, all evening I got worried that this was the beginning of the dramatic fatigue they talk about. God it felt so awful. But luckily it did settle down so now I’ve had Saturday to chilax I’m feeling much better. The hospital said it would be like this so keep very hydrated as that really helps. Lots and lots of water, boring as it is it’s meant to help clear out your system and get rid of all those toxins which are being released by the rads. Makes sense I suppose. My skin was to hot withe the Aquasis cream so now I’m only using the aloe Vera with one drop of lavender aromatherapy. My skin feels ok although it looks tanned and the nipple area has gone really dark.
Hi all, 4 in the morning seems to be my favourite time! I only have 2 more rads to go. Can’t wait to finish on Tuesday. I will not miss the 4 hour round trip either! Been tired and itchy over the last week but not too bad otherwise. My poor boob is as pink as pink can be… No wonder our symbol is a pink ribbon!!! ? hope all goes well for you all this week. Take care. Dawn xx
Awake since 4:30am with such itchy skin and stumbled on this thread which has made me feel so much better as whilst reading has taken my mind off of the itching for a bit so thanks for that X. Although it’s not nice to read the different problems people have its nice to know I’m not going mad when I tell the radiographers after 2/3 sessions I’m sore and my skin is getting pinker and their reply it shouldn’t be yet is so not true after reading others posts this morning.
Day 7 of 19 today and I can only hope the delays are not too long as I mostly seem to be sitting with lots of men at my appointment times who are going through the same treatment as each other and have their own waiting room thread going! I,ll just have to carry on with my pretend snoozing trick.
Hope everyone has a good week and if you don’t mind I would love to carry on reading your posts and any tips on soothing the itching would be great…I’ve tried to put on a non sls cream but this just seemed to aggravate it more!
Morning ladies
Week 2 of rads for me and although last week was ok was glad to not have the 4 hour plus round trip over the weekend … Not had too much problem as yet hope not speaking too soon , slapping on double base gel 3/4 times a day and trying to drink lots as you all say it helps just tired but am only 4 weeks from chemo do nay be still that as well … Dawn pleased you are almost at the end and Reikian over half way … Best wishes to you all for this week and keep us informed of progress xxxx
Okey they can give you steroid cream for the itchy rash it helps a bit.The Oncologist gave me it at my first review but if you ask radiologists they should be able to sort it out for your .Everyones skin reacts differently so there is no such thing as "normal " really.I had the full Monty itchy rash bright ,red boob, broken skin, followed by infection BUT all cleared up within 2 weeks of finishing.
?Last one today!!! ?OMG I cannot wait to spend the day in my pj’s tomorrow! Not having to get dressed and be a person will be amazing!! Miserable cow that I am, not having to speak to anyone about anything, watch daytime telly and drink tea all day… Bliss ?
I got steroid cream and diprobase when I started and it does help with the itching and yes I too was pink and sore from the 1st one. I also got the " it’s too early for that" talk. But as I said its my boob and I know how it feels!!
Hope you all have a good week, think of me in my pj’s tomorrow and look forward to your own pj day. ???

So not been on this for a bit as in addition to bonkers kidney problem post chemo, I also managed to get a detached retina ?. Kidney and eyes improving and have done 16/20 rads. Skin coping, but I am so tired its untrue. Feel like I’m playing hospital bingo at moment, been through oncology, renal, a &e, eye clinics and been told today am getting ref to haematology! Am neutropenic and 8 weeks post chemo…thats not good. End of rads and all this medical crap cannot come quick enough for me.
Thanks ladies, yup can relate to birthday as its mine today! Hubby and folks been amazing, been zapped today, but friends over tomorrow for tea, then hubby taking me away for night. My folks have sorted pre Xmas break in York for when rads are done. This year has sucked, but also been a reminder of how loved and supported I am. 3 more blasts then cancer crap done!
Evening ladies … Happy birthday to both Reikian and vic although belated … Hope you treated yourself Reikian and vic hope you have a lovely break and celebrate coming to the end of this crisp … Yay the finish line well done ??xx
Had my last radiotherapy treatment this evening and have been celebrating with a nice bottle of Chateauneuf du Pape. Me and my boob seem to have survived the three week/15 zaps treatment pretty well, aside from an infection in the scar tissue that confused the issue, after the first two sessions. I assumed it was because of the radiotherapy but apparently not.
I got this cellulitis infection a few months after the WLE. Had flu-like symptoms from it, which I again wrongly assumed was a reaction to the rads. I am now wondering whether a second-hand tube of Aloe Vera Jelly was to blame, or the fact I couldn’t resist going swimming. A course of double penicillin seemed to cure it and then it was on with the rads again.
Anyway, all’s well that ends well. Should I get a follow-up mammogram, does anybody know? (Had high grade DCIS). If so, when?
Hi ladies . Happy belated birthday vic and I am pleased for you Reikian you see your son to boost your spirits… And congratulations nella all done ??I had number 10 Friday and so far so good only tired but had a bit of a week and to end my 5 month old grandson was rushed in yo hospital Friday with broncolitis all very worrying so we have his 4 year old sister and although we see them everyday on top of all the worry feel shattered… Hope you all have s good week ahead xxx
Hi everyone , happy belated birthday wishes to Vic & ReiKiran
So glad a lot of you are nearly done .
I’ve had a problem with seroma fluid then an abscess which is now being packed 3 times a week
Spoken to a lovely radiotherapy lady & we’ve got a plan to start rads 29th Dec , by then hopefully my skin will be ready to be zapped & the best bit I get to go on holiday the week before
They say that you can get symptoms after finishing rads, but as usual, I didn’t think it would happen to me. Well it is! A week after rads finished, my breast is finally reacting… it is all red and sore and I have marks like spots as well. The nipple has gone dark red and is very sore… hard to wear a bra even. My question is, how can I tell if I have another infection in the scar tissue or whether it is a delayed reaction to the rads? I will ring nurses on Monday, but in the meantime, am looking for a. relief (I’m trying Ibuprofen) and b. ideas to ease the pain. (I feel like putting something cold on it…)
