Hi xylogal - do they just do an MRI of your boobs then? I had visions of a full body scan ?

It was just my boobs. Led face down with my boobs hanging through a hole.

I was warned about the noise etc, but had some opera through my headphones and actually dozed off!

I tell thee, none of this has been glamorous at all so far, but hanging my lady lumps through a hole in a bed is a clear winner…

Hi Emma, that’s good news (though I know might not feel like it!) - not too much waiting time between now and then. You’ll be fine. ECG is standard to record your baseline heart pattern I think. I had an MRI early on before surgery to check the size and position of the tumour, and check the other boob (clear, thankfully). If you have a breast care nurse or helpline you can always phone then to ask why, but I imagine it just all gives them more info.

On hair, i was planning to get my son (17) to do it with his clippers when the time comes (looks like it might be this weekend at the current shedding rate). I think the bigger risk with a razor would be cutting yourself and risk of infection…but biggest risk with clippers is probably looking like a badly shorn sheep. I’ll report back once the deed is done x

Hi everyone, hope you are all feeling better.  It seems that day 14-16 is the day we all started to moult.  My mop is thinning badly ,it’s only a matter of time before “serene” ( the wig) makes her debut.

If anyone has a PICC line i can recommend a shower sleeve ,from Boots, very useful for keeping your arm dry. It’s £5.

Have a a good weekend xx

Hi Fiona, my first one is Wednesday 21st had my Echo cardiograph this morning all went well. Looking forward to the weekend with my girls last one as my normal self going to try getting out and about as much as possible. Hope you have some nice plans yourself. Hope all goes well for you next week keep in touch big hugs Katrina xx

Emma S…you make me laugh.  I love your line about lady lumps!!!

I’ve felt almost normal today apart from feeling like I’ve got a big demon sitting on my shoulder reminding me I’m in chemo when I started to forget.

Hope everyone is well.

Kazzer I used a colour free, perfume free, parabens free organic shampoo and conditioner throughout chemo. Seemed expensive for small bottle but as I only washed my hair once aa week it lasted the 6 months! Since then I’ve been on herbal essence naked range - again few additives.

Morning all, I’m now on day 3 of a banging headache, has anyone else suffered with this and managed to get rid of it?

All this talk of washing hair. I’m trying to hold out one more day before next wash but might have to crack as it feels gross.

Mild headache for me Jayne but nothing painkillers won’t take away. Hope you manage to shift it. I do feel weary though with aching shoulders and very lack lustre (although whether I’ve had much lustre at all since diagnosis is open for debate). My nurse said the tiredness would most likely hit this weekend as entering low-immunity zone but not sure if I’m just imagining it because she said it or if it’s real. Suspect today I will be taking it easy.

Hope everyone else is doing okay. x

Hi Jayney I had that ‘axe in the top of the head’ feeling for 10 days after 1st chemo & nothing shifted it except for co-codamol. I was able to drink a lot more water with chemo 2, as wasn’t being sick, & didn’t have it 2nd time round. Hope u get rid. BBx

Thanks Carole. Might invest in some dry shampoo to keep me going for another day. :smileyhappy:

Hi everyone. Nikki’s ok at the moment but was during the day yesterday until the evening when the nausea came on. I’ve suggested taking her meds at a different time maybe x

Hi ladies,

You all seem so positive going through this - and it gives me strength for what I’m about to go through too, thank you xx

One question - Does anyone know how long after chemo does the radiotherapy start - and when will I start taking the Tamoxifen?

Em xx

Decided to treat myself to a small beer this evening. Tastes foul so think I’m going to give up. :smileysad:

Peggycat, I’ve got a glass of red which tastes lovely.  I met a lady in hospital when we had our ops and we’ve kept in touch.  She said she went off wine completely but discovered it was only the first glass that didn’t taste nice…the second one was lovely.  I so admired her determination!!!

Thanks Emma. In that case I will persevere. x

Emma, in the interests of scientific research, I thought I’d check out your friend’s experiments and can say that yes, wine is definitely an improvement. First few sips of first glass I wasn’t sure about but second glass tastes normal. Small glasses only tonight as it’s been quite a while since my last tipple and I don’t want to overdo it but it’s lovely to be able to do something normal on a Saturday evening. x

Delighted to hear it!  I thoroughly enjoyed the normality too.  Almost felt naughty doing it!  Xx

Does anyone else have a port a cath and hate it as much as I do mine?  It’s not sore, just uncomfortable, and pulls oddly when I lie down.  I’m sure there is nothing wrong with it.  It’s just a foreign body and I suppose it will feel odd.  I also hate seeing the lump under the skin.  I think I will start a countdown to when it comes out!!!
