Good going Emma S. Bless him. I think they feel so helpless. There’ll be plenty for him to do later on when he can look after you at home.

Hi Bazza glad to head bullish feeling better and eating! I’ve got a picc line and it’s absolutely fine, I was anxious to have it fitted but didn’t hurt just a little local anethestic. I even forget I have it just have to remember to cover in the shower!
Im doing fine thanks no 3 on Thursday and the hair loss has settled down so all good so far!
Take care xx
Most of it Bazza, my hair is cut into my neck at the back and I’ve lost those short bits but I think that’s because the cap didn’t cover it. Quite a bit came out towards the end of first cycle when I brushed it but you really can’t notice. I’m on day 20 of second cycle and hardly lost any this time. I’m just taking each day at a time! X
Found a cure for the bad taste in my mouth last night - some bitter and 70% cocoa chocolate - worked for a while anyway!
Knackered after a trip into town with my daughter this morning and just booked for a wig consultation on Thursday. Sleep this afternoon me thinks!
Good luck to all about to embark on their 1st (or 2nd) cycle.
Hope you enjoy your Feel Good session EmmaD. My friend is attending one today as well - mines not until February!
Lauging at your sneeze story here Jojo. I am totally convinced that my chin hairs will cling on stubbornly throughout all this while all other hairs abandon ship although I’m hoping I’ll be as lucky as Shazza with the cold cap.
Went to my mid-way oncology appointment today and they had given me the wrong date as they wanted to see me three days before FEC2. Anyway, they seem pleased with how I’m doing so far and have prescribed something for the acid refulx next time. AND, I have lost a kilo in the last three weeks which is frankly quite astonishing considering the family size bags of Doritos I was putting away the few days after the steriods finished and the amount of lounging around I’ve been doing for the last eight weeks since surgery.
xx
I had a lovely time at the look good feel good session. The ladies are lovely and the goody bag is amazing. I’m delighted and have already had to beat my daughter (18) off it!!
If I were you I’d put that goodie bag under lock and key Emma D. x
Hello all…have my picc line fitted tomorrow, then start first dose of fec 100 on Thursday. Hope I will cope as well as all you seem to have done!! All the best to all of you Fiona xx
Morning ladies, got my first session this morning. How do you manage to keep so positive - any advice would be greatly appreciated as I’m felling very scared and tired this morning never slept too good last night.
Morning ladies (and Bazza)
I had my portacath, heart scan, bloods and CT done on Monday - all went well, nice to hear that my squidgy bits are okay. Was diagnosed with an enlarged heart and plaque in an artery in 2009 after months of tachycardia and panic attacks - oddly the doctor doing the scan said that it was no where near enlarged and he couldn’t see any plaque! It was a very long day - the cold cap went on eventually at 1pm, the first ten minutes were toe-curlingly interesting… If you can ride the first 10-15 minutes you can crack it. Lots of pre-meds, then the actual chemo, lots of saline - I knocked the needle out of my portacath - oooops… We left the hospital at nearly 8pm. A long long day. Felt sick last night on the train coming home smelling other people’s food. Headachy this morning. Will see what happens next. The eagle is mooching, but not landing…
Hope me you’re all okay, coping well…my love goes with you all xxx
Hi Kat and welcome. Good luck for today. It can be scary, but the staff are all lovely and will do their best to put you at ease. Let us know how you get on.
Well done Emma S. Sounds like you’be had a lot thrown at you over the last couple of days so take it easy and put hubby to work.
i’m brewing a bit of a cold and have a scratchy sore throat. Monitoring my temperature and so far all good. day 13 and still no hair loss. I’m expecting it to start this weekend if the cold cap hasn’t worked. Looking forward to my Anabandana delivery today though.
have a good day all
Emma D
Hi ladies, I’m a new girl having joined about 10 minutes ago. It’s been great reading through your messages. I had my first chemo session last Wednesday and herceptin on Thursday. Does anyone know If the disgusting taste in the mouth subsides before further treatment? Sorry to be negative girls, but it’s pretty grim xx
Hi everyone and welcome Kat and Note.
Emma S, sounds like a full on day for you yesterday but that you’ve handled it really well. Fingers crossed for your that your SEs will will few. Keep taking the tablets.
Note, in my experience the metalic taste does subside a little, I’m day 13 now and it’s not as bad as it was. Some things still don’t taste right though: beer and chocolate (how cruel).
Hope your cold doesn’t develop Emma D. Like you I’m sitting here wondering when the hair might start making a bid for freedom. Had some head tingles yesterday but they seem to have stopped now. Lady garden is a bit more sparse but still hanging on.
Hope everyone has a good day. Mr GP has signed me on to do a few hours of work a day from home for the next week which will put off going on statutory sick pay for a little while longer.
xx
Oh and good luck today Kat. x
Welcome Rosemary. I haven’t had and taste issues thankfully, but I will be having herceptin at some stage. I suppose having had the chemo and then herceptin you can’t really tell which is causing it.
In terms of the camaraderie in the infusion room, we had a lovely Dunkirk spirit going on and had some laughs about how glamorous we all looked with th cold caps…and applause as each person finished. It was rather special. I know that depends on who is in the room at the time, but it’s a nice idea to congratulate each other, and something I will make sure I do each time.
Emma D
Good luck Jojo. I’ll have my applause ready for you. At least now you know that you do come out the other side ok eventually. Xx
Does anyone fancy joining me in putting a picture on their profile? It would be lovely to put faces to names.
I’m fine with that
