Morning everyone. Good luck today Kat. I’ve got a blood test of my own today, I can feel the anxiety you all must feel x
Good luck today Jojo and Eje J. And Barry too. Thinking of you.
Emma D, I will have a look and see if I can find a decent photo of me to put up. xx
Hello ladies!
Re: hair!
I had my third EC on Monday and still have some hair! Probably lost about two thirds of it but still have some fringe and tufts at the back so when I wear a scarf or hat there is some hair showing and I don’t scream out cancer patient!! So I’m hanging onto it as long as it can but am prepared that I might lose the rest this time round.
Hugs to those not feeling good today. I don’t feel too bad just really exhausted, slept all morning then got up and had huge spag bol for lunch, chemo certainly doesn’t affect my appetite! Ready for an afternoon nap now!
Hazel xx
Hi everyone, had my first session this morning, and as predicted was not as bad as I expected, even managed to go for some lunch when we came out was nice to just sit back and relax. So far all good no SE, hopefully it will last. Thanks again for all your positive comments reay does help to know your are all there if I need someone to moan at lol. Hope everyone having treatment today is not feeling too bad xxx
Well done Kat. One to tick off the list. x
Well done all the ladies who have had treatment today, hope your SEs are minimal.
day 14 update, after having a banging head for a few days, I feel almost normal today and have done a full day at the office. Head hair still feels fully secure, just a random start hair falling every now and then, However, the lady garden so a different matter! I now have a love,y Brazilian - and it was free of charge!. (Sorry Barry)
i go on holiday on Saturday for a week and I am having a bit if a dilemma about what to do regarding my hair, do I leave it as it is and just risk it coming out in chunks whilst away, or get rid before I go, I am wondering whether I can keep it for another week eek!!!
lots of love to you all Jayne xx
Well done everyone, more and more of us have started the treatment now. Just felt a pang of jealousy when I saw some posts on the July thread and they are having their last sessions. Never mind, that will be us in due course, something to look forward too. If my sessions all run a s planed my last one will be on 22nd Jan. Day 13 for me and my main problem is tiredness/lack of energy. Didn’t get up till lunchtime and still had to go for a snooze at 5pm! Luckily there’s nothing I’ve got to do, my lovely hubby is doing all the cooking, so I can just rest. Got my wig yesterday and have been wearing it today for a bit of practice, think I like it but will take a bit of getting used to! Didn’t understand the pricing system at all, had to pay £66 to the hospital and £34 to the wig supplier . Presume this was less than buying direct but I’ve no idea. No hair loss for me yet, legs still like a gorilla, lady garden intact and I gave in and shaved under my arms yesterday as my BCN was checking my scar and I didn’t want to disgust her with hairy armpits (though I’m sure she’s seen some sights in her time!). I had hoped they would have fallen out by now! I suppose I just have to be patient! Hope everyone has a pleasant evening. Chris xx ps I’ll try and dig out a photo too Emma!
Hi lovely people
Back from my second chemo, had the magical (I hope!) Emend so just waiting to see what happens…chemo was about an hour later that last time so if my body clock works the same I will start to feel queasy in the next half hour…we’ll see.
Well done to those who’ve just had their first treatment…that is the worst bit over now (my oncologist yesterday said the dose is the same each time, SEs are not cumulative) , so hopefully things can only improve for the next cycles as you get used to managing them.
Chemo nurse did say AC, which I’m on, is less harsh than some other regimes, often given to over 60s ladies apparently…I felt like saying, 'I’m forty f’ing seven!!! So that might explain why the hair is taking its time to go if it’s a bit milder. Though the other nurse then piped up with, AC is known for making you sick though…which I knew, obvs!
Welcome to our new posters, and hope everyone else doing ok?
Big hugs xxx
Well done everyone on treatments today. One more tick in the box!!
i love the picture Caffy. The wig looks great and really suits you. Is it similar to your natural hair?
Emma D
Love your picture Chris and glad you have had lots of bed time today - if you can’t do it now when can you?
I’ve just changed my picture - not sure how sucessful it is. Husband is currently laughing at my technical incompetence. It’s also 3.5 years old and I have lots more hair in it than I currently do so not very representative of my current state.
Well done everyone for getting through another day.
xx
I’m reading all these posts on my phone so as well as Chris being sideways everyone is so tiny I can’t see what you look like! Need to get to a big screen (and find a photo of me to share…I did Google Odd Bod from
Carry on Screaming earlier as thought that would amuse you all given my earlier
Whoops! …comments, but knowing me would be unable to change it later and be permanently stuck with that as my profile picture!
Jojo - how you doing? Did you get the Emend? Sending you all my best lucky thoughts xxx
Morning all. day 14 on ‘hair watch’, and it’s still holding firm. All of it…everywhere. The suspense is killing me!
I hope all who had treatment yesterday are doing ok. Have a good day everyone.
Emma D
Well I’ve added my pic and like Chris I appear to be on my side, don’t know how to turn it round.
Anyway, I spoke too soon about my hair last night, and when I washed it lots came out in my hands, and there was quite a bit on my pillow this morning grrrr.
on count down now to number 2, I’m almost wishing time away so it hurrys up, not that I want to have it, but it’s ticking another one off. I am due to have my last one on 21st Jan if there are no delays, and I’ve even got to have one New Year’s Eve - what’s all that about!!!
Anyway have a good day everyone.

Day 2 of chemo 2 - not been sick which is a major advance on last time, so it seems the Emend is working. Did feel queasy last night though and woke at 5 this morning feeling v sick, but managed not to throw up and have had some cereal and my wide selection of meds so hoping it will settle a bit now.
Hope everyone else is doing ok today x
I couldn’t figure out the sideways picture either so took one on my phone the right way around.
Emend really is the wonder drug. Glad you’ve got it Ele. Sorry to hear about the hair Janey. Is that day 15 for you?
Yes, day 15 Emma, keep picking random hairs up from everywhere I’ve been, my hair is fine, but I have a lot of it, hoping it lasts the week ?
Day 14 of hair watch here and head still seems intact. Washed it very gingerly yesterday. Have just been to pick up my wig and felt quite vulnerable putting it on and taking it off but it survived. Just trying to enjoy every moment I have with it now. Lady garden clinging on but a lot more sparse. Strangely, I removed hair from under arms and legs on Sunday. The leg hair seems to be growing back patchily but the underarms not at all.
I think the wig will take some getting used to and I’m not sure I’ll wear it all the time but it will no doubt come in useful over a British winter perhaps under a hat. I am very grateful to the NHS for providing it - I got mine free. It does seem like the charging system varies massively between health authorities.
Glad you are suffering a bit less with the sickness this time Ele J - take it easy. xx
Bless you Suzy. I have always thought of myself as a bit of a coward really and never would have imagined I could face up to the things I’ve had to do over the last few months. I think the fact that we all seem to be managing to get through this with our sense of humour intact is a credit to everyone. x
“Hat with hair” ordered, should be picking it up next week which will just be when my hair starts falling again after my second session.
Went shopping with my daughter afterwards and found Marmite Chocolate. Looking forward to that later.
Feeling a bit more back to normal after my last session, strange how you forget how crap you feel after gradually getting better over the three weeks.
Lots of talk about end dates for chem on here. Mines not until mid February! the joys of having 8 sessions. Looks like I will have started before most of you and finish after.
