Jencat, not sure if it is a SE but I’ve definitely been a bit more emotional (never really been a teary sort of person) mainly when people show kindness, especially when it’s unexpected! What a lovely gift from your friend and probably a lovely surprise. I’ve had lots of flowers since my diagnosis which I know is lovely but also a bit of a pain as sometimes I didn’t feel like doing anything with them!
Ruth, Cassie how’re you both doing? Hope you’re ok!
Karana what a brave thing going to do in front of all those people I got a little lump in my throat reading your post, I’m really pleased you are all taking charge of your hair thing it is such a massive thing as a woman to lose hair but taking control really puts you in a more positive place moving in with treatment x
Re the sickness thing the do say if you suffered with bad morning sickness during pregnancy your more predisposed to have it during chemo, my doctor told me that don’t suffer in silence there are lots of things they can give you to help xx
Hi jencat, so glad you are feeling a bit better this afternoon, it is hard for friends as they are watching this from the outside of the boxing arena while you are in there punching for all you are worth. They want to jump in and help with the punching but sometimes don’t know how to jump in and help you with the punching. On here we are all punching it with you and as friends learn when you need help with the punches they will join in too when you ask. Its hard as they know we are in this fight and love and support us through it, they don’t know the whole story of the train journey the way we find ourselves on, which is where all the amazing friends on this forum step in as the boxing tag team. Love and sparkles ???shi xx
Hi Jencat, glad you’re feeling a bit better this afternoon, we are all bound to have some days when we feel a little fed up. I’m glad we good help raise your spirits a little. I know I would’ve had a lot more down days without all of you on the forum to make me laugh!
Shi, I like the boxing analogy and the thought of all of us punching for what we’re worth, that made me chuckle! ?
Shi - wig gets a ? Feels a bit wierd and the mesh is a bit cheaper than the good wigs but hangs well and the hair feels pretty good too. Good as a cheer me up wig ?
Ruth, glad you liked your wig! I might look into getting a fun one too if my cold cap doesn’t work!
Chaffinch, that website you mentioned does some nice looking hats, can you send them back if you don’t like them? I find they look good on the models but when I try them on they don’t look so good on me! ?
Yes its tine Shi
But just a teaspokn of a morning on an empty tummy and a teaspoon st night before bed. However long it last it will hopefully do the trick. It shoild last 12 days if we get the measures right xx
?meesh, id be lost without you all too ?Ruth you can get one of those things to go on your head before you put your wing on its like tights but resembles a swimming cap and as you pull it on you’ll know what a bank robber felt like in the 70’s remember when they used to pull a pair of tights over their heads ???der this journey is full of dressing up party days… who knew???shi xx
Hi Ruth, Shi is right about the cap thing for the wig but my wig lady said don’t get the one like the tights, instead get the mesh one as it’s what the professionals use and doesn’t make your head so hot!
Hi Shi, I’m having my bloods done Monday ready for chemo 2 on Tuesday. I’m going to be having liver for dinner tomorrow and lots of veg to try and boost a bit for bloods on Monday (not sure if I’ll have any problems with low count but want to make sure). Have been reading the August thread and a few of them had No 2 delayed through low blood counts even though they felt fine and had no issues. So that’s got me a bit worried now, as none of us want to miss our chemo ?! I’m sure you’ll be fine as although they went on holiday they’re back now. Also read somewhere that someone used to have Guinness day before their bloods but I don’t like that, so liver will have to do ?
Ali, I didn’t have hiccups but did burp quite a bit after chemo 1 and I think others also suffered with that. Did you have the hiccups after chemo 1 or is this a new thing for chemo 2?
Hi Ali yes I get the hiccups all the time it is my warning sign that the nausea is about to get a lot worse! Woke up with them three times last night and ended up taking the DomP tablets at 5am but they are only really a stop gap as not so good as the others. A bit worried that today is the antinausea cliff as just have steroids left for tomorrow ? Guess I will call it in if I get worse again. The hungry ? Is helping a bit as I try to eat small bites of something every 3 hours.
I am also completely getting the sensory thing - smells, light, noises etc can’t go near the tv and have to keep asking people to slow down and just say or ask one thing when they are speaking to me!! I am still pretty bed bound but mainly because it is quiet and still up here!!! No reading either - too much. ?
Meesh, thanks about the mesh wig thing, I have one of those too, cheap as chips from dressing up shops. ???liver I know I’ve been on a steak a day but hey if they delay, they delay, I’d rather have a count that can take it Long haul again and not risk it with ones that could only withstand short haul. Ruth sweety so glad you like your wig and sorry you’ve been blllaahhh with se’s, hope the get better soon. Ali, please let me know when you started you life Mel it says for it to work 5-10 days? Dizzy my steroids were dexamethasone and again worked ok???shi xx
I found the don peridone awful Ruth, they were my extras! So i went to my gp and got Cyclizine. They were much better. I only actually too one. It made me have a great sleep too. I have them in case i need them as my ondensatron (or something like that) finish today. I get the hiccups after eating at the mo. I cant remember having them in cycle 1.
Hope you feel better soon Ruth.
Shi i started taking my honey the day after treatment in the hope that it will work to day 13 and get me through the low time. You dont have to wait though. You could take it now x
Love the wig comparing ladies!!! Bee looking online for hats it’s starting to get cold outside ?️ don’t think scarfs would be warm enough soon
Yes today noticed even more hair today ladies and I’m not done with treatment yet so there you go ladies light at the end of the tunnel I mean there’s not a lot there but few weeks back my head was shiny!!!
For those of you who have recently parted company with yours I can assure you it comes back slightly different colour! And like baby’s hair! Atm but I’m so relieved and chuffed that I have some with one treatment left to go
Really wigs I have chosen to go for something totally different to my own before as I have worn scarves throughout and saving wig wearing for post chemo outings ??
Hi Mishy, they keep telling me my hair will start to grow back before my treatment ends so it’s good to hear that that actually can happen. I’m on day 15 after first fec and my hair is shedding loads and I also have a couple of bald patches today. Just hope it holds out till Thursday when my wig is ready xx
