Hi Linda - at the RD&E - are you in Devon?
Yes but from Thursday I am having chemo at home but I have been there for the first 4 weeks.
At Exeter? How’s it been?
I’ve sent you a message.
On Facebook Messenger?
Hi friends! So I am joining the Oct. 2024. Not sure if I am posting right ect. I am going through 4 cycles of TC. I went through a very difficult time getting it all tested and diagnosised. I found it myself, in lymph node. I am 10 months out from chemo/rt for different cancer. So it was hard to hear. as all is. I am 64 with stage 3. Having you all here is calming but so sorry we are all here. Please reach out to me anytime. As I am full of questions and will problaly will be reaching out also. Together we are stronger. Much love.
Has anyone had hormone blocker added to chemo. My doctor is very all protocal. But I was asked to join a trial adding Hormone therapy to chemo but did not want to wait for trial as I have an aggresive type 111a. But one treatment in I am thinking of asking Doc. instead of waiting untill after chemo surgery and rt I figuire more fight in this anyone else done this and which type of hormone blocker ? I am hr+ Her2- postmenalpause. Thanks all.
Hi all. I am due to start 7 cycles of chemo. Had a double mastectomy at the end of May then full lymph node clearance on the left side in August. Yesterday I had my Portacath fitted under local anaesthetic, im a a bit sore but hoping that will settle over the next week. I then have an appointment with my oncologist to discuss my latest CT before starting my first cycle of chemo. The first 3 cycles will be EC followed by 4 cycles of Docetaxel all 21 days apart. Will also be having Zoladex for hormone and Phesgo for HER2. Feeling super nervous about the side-effects, hair loss, etc Good luck to all October starters.
@dessi
Hi Im just behind you on the Sept starters. I dont know alot about all this but just thought I’d share. I had a lot of tests and scans in my early diagnosis which added time to the start of my treatment. I was given Anastrozole to take daily as Im just post menopausal with hormone+ her2-
That was presecibed by the Breast cancer surgery team. When I first met my oncologist she discussed treatment and told me to stop the Anastrozole during chemo. Then to go back on it after. I cant remember her exact words but something to do with the effect on each other (chemo drugs/hormone drugs) I should have asked more as to my mind they should be doing the same? Certainly worth asking about… You’ll probably pay more attention to me!! Good luck with treamemt xx
I was told to stop Letrozole a week before starting chemo as I was already on Letrozole for 5 years 9 months.
Hello everyone.
I guess this is a club none of us hoped to join! But it’s good to know we’re in it together and I’m sure we’ll support each other through this next stage of our cancer journey.
I’m starting my chemo next week-6 cycles of EC-T, then radiotherapy and whatever drugs to follow. This comes after the mastectomy and axillary clearance I had on 5th August.
Mixed feelings right now-keen to get started but the side effects list really makes grim reading!
As it’s the first of our month, I want to send the warmest virtual hugs and best wishes to everyone on this thread.
Also, I’ve been wondering about whether to try the cold capping. Does anyone know whether it is worth doing, worth adding to the stress of chemo sessions. While I realise the experience and results will be individual, I’d really appreciate it if someone could give a first hand perspective. I have a wig fitting session booked for next Monday. I’m sure it’ll be fun, I could finally be that blond I always dreamed about! Anyway, just wondering what others think about the cold cap, yet another decision to make!
I’m going to give the cold cap a go, I think you can check on the website to see what the expected effectiveness is. I’m not sure I understood it correctly though, so I’m sorry not to be more help yet! I can let you know after Friday
Thanks Phoebe, that would be helpful. Hope Friday goes well for you. I start next Friday.
Good morning everyone and so pleased this thread is here so we can share experiences and tips to manage the next few months. My preassessment is on 11th, first cycle in 16th so will be following this forum very closely! Have been provided with a wig voucher and off to choose one on Thursday. Have spent a fortune on a variety of headwear too. The uncertainty as to the effects of the treatment is unnerving and mind chatter in the early hours is a challenge. Good luck to everyone starting their treatment this month xx
I did it on FEC-T and am now on Paclitaxel every week. No regrets but am expecting to lose some but doing well so far I’ve been told by the lady from Paxman who I saw yesterday to check the fitting of my cap as I start at home on Friday (I have had 4 so far). Just take paracetomol half an hour beforehand as the first 10 to 15 minutes are the worst and put a sanitary towel/panty liner on your forehead or a hairband if you can get 1 that doesn’t move as that is where it hurts.
Thank you. I was reading and heard the synergize of all may help kill the bad cells that could be left behind. but yes my surgeon says wait.
Hello,
I’m starting EC today and had PICC line in yesterday. 3 rounds of EC then 3 of Docitaxel. I’m very nervous about the side effects but I wish you all the best x
Oh I’m thinking of you!!! You’ve got this. I’m so nervous too, have barely slept all week. I just had my first zoladex injection this morning and picc this afternoon. Keep us posted when you feel like it, cheering you on x
Hello and I hope it all goes well for you. I am starting the same regime as you on 16th and would be very interested to hear how you get on. Mine will be delivered by a cannulae but maybe that’s how they do it at our hospital
