Thats good to think about life in thirds. I have had my share of rough and ok days this cycle. Yesterday i had a good day. We went to a local wildlife park to see the new babies. They were so cute. The park was quiet after half term so i wasnt worrying about germs either so i didn’t need to mask. Heres a little cuteness
Hi @tan1988 i am so sorry I haven’t replied earlier, I thought I had lol.
Ah i have had a sore mouth, managed to get that feeling better and then this morning i had a dicky stomach. Chemo really does like to mix up the surprise side effects.
I have bloods tomorrow, my PICC line insertion on Thursday and then my 2nd EC infusion on Friday.
It does feel like my emotions are starting to settle and its the next infusion. I guess my husband is at least prepared for the rush of irritability, temper and tears this time lol
How are you doing? The IBC club is definitely an exclusive one xx
I have that exact same feeling in my stomach!! But I seem to be a bottomless pit, can’t stop snacking!! I also have really bad tinnitus today and jaw pain, maybe just from the jag. Shouldn’t have googled it cos now I’m scared It’s going to be this way forever.
Thanks for the reassurance re the port that’s actually helped me a lot. Don’t know why I’ve been letting such a tiny part of it worry me for a few days.
Hope you had a lovely day 🩷
@tigress42 I love this ![]()
Helloooo lovely boob squad!
Ive had a weird few days … not pain and nausea like #1. This one had its own collection of curveballs #2 has literally wiped me out. A wee dander to the shop needed a 3hr recovery nap plus bed by 9am. I got 1/2 way round Homebargains today and had to go to the car, thought i was gonna pass out … home 4hr nap!!!
On top of epic fatigue and tiredness my tummy arse combo is in crisis. Not hungry but eat because you’re supposed to … quantity become 4x more in tummy and skips past any kind of digestion and out it pops, whistles or splats! Grim. Preferred over pain and 3days in hospital. I may lose weight in this shit storm (sic) after all … every cloud.![]()
My wee balding scrappy scalp is bloody killing me. I wear a very very thin covering for bed to stop rubbing but OMG during the night … knitting needles. Trying something new tonight before i get shaved at the end of the week … dampened my hair and covered it in baby oil, then gave my scalp a wee massage. It was lush. Ill let you know the craic if it helps the pain, itch, tingle scalp dilema.
Anybody getting weird trembly eyeballs?? Like a constant vibrate. May just be me …
Night all

Morning!
Woken up at 4am with a pounding headache again… thinking it hunger but I have no appetite, and my hair is starting to tingle. So I’m going to use your tip @lumpybyebye with a baby oil massage. Sorry to hear you are having a rough ride of it for cycle #2, but you are one day closer to climbing out the chemo hole again ![]()
Off to make some toast… might even treat myself to an avocado
too if it’s ripe! Got a hankering for avo on toast the other day so sent the husband out on a shopping trip- but they are always rock hard when you buy them
so been staring at it them for a few days!
@lumpybyebye the friend that shaved my head for me said to use baby oil as a treatment or hair oil sorry should have said that ![]()
My eyeballs have felt heavy this time I thought it was to do with how much I had napped
but perhaps it is a side effect!
@tigress42 hope you enjoyed your toast - I can’t stand avocado wish I did because it’s so good for you!
I had a much better sleep and it was so lovely not having hair to move out the way
I’m actually loving it - might keep it short!
@loupy …nope, they are still hard as rocks and looking at me. I absolutely love avocados, can eat them in their own with a teaspoon
just not quite the right time of year to be hankering after them!
I’ve turned into a spotty teenager, on my face and in my hair ![]()
Been having a look in some other forums about order hair may be lost, my head is definitely feeling like I had a ‘face-lift’ style pony tail in all night ![]()
Thats interesting to know, thanks for posting. My pubes are on there way out. My head has started shedding around my ears. I am cold capping and the cap doesnt cover there so i guess thats to be expected.
I am having EC round 2 tomorrow. Lets see what that brings. The last couple ofdays i have had sore eyes. Sometimes dry and sometimes watery. Anyone else had that?
Yep, I’ve had the dry , irritated and really watery eyes! Not the worst side effect, but quite annoying!
Quite a few ladies on the LGFB makeup workshop I went on said that they had sore and watery eyes ![]()
This weird shaky, almost hungry all the time but nothing quenching the hunger is doing my head in today! I keep picking at different types of food flavours to try and find out what will stop it lol
Day 6 and back at the office today, feels nice to be almost “normal” just wish my body felt normal too.
Are you drinking enough water? We often mistake thirst for hunger and drinking plenty of water is the best top tip when going through chemo. We need even more than usual to clear crap out of our system, in the same way we need extra fluids when fighting a cold or any infection.
It a top tip in the dr Liz o book - 2-3 litres a day
X
Yep drinking lots also, currently on 1,200ml drunk, I have weed so much!!!
Although I know Monday I didn’t drink enough, I just felt tired I kept forgetting, so really felt that yesterday. I know now the Monday after chemo I need all meals ready and water on hand ready to go as energy is so low.
Such a learning curve this madness!
This is all such a learning curve! I’ve had achy eyes but mine are always watering so I’m used to that!
Interesting about the hair loss, only noticed loss from my head at the moment, to be honest I am loving the no hair - especially when it’s raining!
it’s so easy not having to worry about getting wet!
I think cycle 1&2 is all about learning good and bad days, I know now to expect to feel rubbish day 8 and then overnight feel well! Although I do think water and how much I drink has a lot to play - I wonder if you already drunk 2-3 litres you need to up it?
Sending love to all ![]()
I’m exactly the same! Keep opening the fridge and kitchen cupboards trying to see what it is I’m craving! My appetite has probably doubled right now x
After much indecision I finally bought the Suzzipads (starting chemo in about 3 weeks.) They arrived today, and I’m a little daunted by them!!
How’ve you been getting on with them,?
A few questions for those who have used them…
Instructions say to only use for 30 mins at a time, which surprised me. Is that what you’ve been doing? Do you take them off when you walk to loo?
Do you put ice pack in gloves/ socks before freezing them? . Instructions say you do for gloves but unclear for socks.
I know the neuropathy risks are mostly for Docetaxel or Paclitaxol, but have people been using cold packs with EC too? Think maybe can protect nails?
And any other tips for them…?
Thanks in advance x
@snooky I don’t eat meat and now starting to think do I need a Big Mac in my hands! lol
I also brought spare ice packs. You could just use extra ice blocks - a far cheaper option.
Just stuff them all into a good cool bag and you’ll be good to go. I think the staff have an internal groan when they’ve got me! I get them to lift the bag out of the trolley to the table- it’s bloody heavy and I have to not lift heavy things - post op and picc line!
Trolley was just a cheap collapsible trolley we already had knocking around. M and S sell cheap zippable cool bags in their food halls.
I follow the same timings as for cold capping - half an hour before, throughout the infusions and 1 hour if only paclitaxel and 1.5 hours if a double whammy week with herceptin too. Do be sure to keep your normal socks on, you don’t want frostbite! I often take my feet out for a couple of minutes if my feet start to feel too cold.
Definitely take socks off when standing up! They could easily pop on you!
