the key is to find colours that suit you - for me it’s strong Royal colours like purples, red, green, blue, (not yellow though) and navy is better for me than black on my top half. Pastels and beiges wash me out. Best way is to wear no makeup and stand in front of a mirror with a variety of your clothes and in natural light, hold one up under your chin. You should see quickly what colour suits and what doesn’t. I love orange, but when I do that, it’s a definite omg no!!

Then find styles that suit body shape. There are many no no’s for me!!! Lol

i am not a follower of fashion, far from it and you can’t be being a size 20/22  but I know what works and what doesn’t! That’s it then, I’m going to be a personal shopper in debenhams lols

Good morning windy Willows,

Horrible day here, wet and windy, but not cold.  Read the papers and done the crossword, albeit with some help from himself.

You look lovely in red Helena.  I love red, purple, blue and green, can’t wear pink, yellow or orange.  It’s funny, I never used to know what suited me when I was younger, and because I was quite shy (hard to believe now) even though I was slim I used to dress in baggy dull colours so I didn’t stand out.  Now I’m confident I love clothes and dress in bold bright colours.

Thumping head today, two lots of painkillers not made any difference.  Spending yesterday with my friends three grandchildren probably didn’t help.  Eldest and youngest are real poppets but the middle one has ADHA and is quite “challenging” to put it politely.  I wore my hair down yesterday for a change and he was fascinated by my curls, started off by stroking them, ended up by pulling them (several times, and very hard)  I nearly ended up by thumping him but managed to keep a fixed grin on my face while mummy and nanny kept gently removing his hands from my head.  Give my a dog any day.

Help!!

I am sure at least one of you will be able to answer my question.

I have loads of pots where the potting compost is need desperate need of replacing, some of it has not been changed for a couple of years only topped up, is this a good time of the year to do it or should I wait a couple more weeks?

Go you Helena, yes, you’re right, I think as we get older we care less what others think about us and feel more comfortable about who we are.  I wasted so many of my young years feeling inferior, worrying what people thought about me.  I now think of all the wonderful friends I’ve got,  and think if all these amazing, clever, funny, and interesting  people like me and actually seek out my company I must be ok.  That’s the one compensation of getting old.  Ive also learnt that even those that appear confident often aren’t.  That line from Desiderata is so true, “If you compare yourself to others or you will become vain or bitter, for there will always be greater and lesser persons than yourself”. Right, that’s enough philosophising for one day, doesn’t suit me, rude dittys are more my style.  Time to chuck the chicken in the oven xx

Helena, if it were me I’d do the pots while you think of it, otherwise time will go by and it won’t happen for another year. Or that’s what happens to me anyway. You can usually tip the plant out, prune back the roots to a smaller football then fill round the bottom and sides with new compost and some slow release fertiliser, and a new mulch for the top. Or repot into a bigger pot.

Years ago I had a session with a colour consultant, they sit you in a chair and drape different colours round your neck to see how they suit your colouring. I still have the swatch of colours I’m meant to take shopping. I’m apparently Spring, which is bright clear colours. And jewellery should be gold, not silver. I don’t always stick to it, but mostly I do because they’re the colours I like best, royal blue, turquoise, jade green, bright pink. It was amazing to see how different colours round your neck make you look completely different.

There are some shops which always do the right colours for me, i love going into East for the colours. But their shapes are completely wrong somehow, I always look like a sack in their clothes. And anyway, I’m a natural scruff, always in jeans and long jumpers and boots.

Well the rain has finally stopped here, but it’s not going to be the nice afternoon I was hoping for. Time for the Sunday paper…

Well I’ve just gone mad with repotting. I’m lucky I have an old ramshackle greenhouse - more gaps than glass, so I’ve planted some gladis (not dame Edna ones!) and dahlias, to get a head start. I always think plants have 2 chances and need to be robust to withstand my slapdash gardening skills! Gardeners World and Gardeners Question Time my go to websites. The gladis are plum fuschia and lime green, so I figure should look amazing in a vase and will go with some of your colour ways!!! Xx

Hello ladies
I also love my garden as hubby does it …I don’t know a pansy from a petunia but I’m an expert at sitting with a cuppa and a bicky giving orders !!
Working in an office for 26 years with sombre colours …I’m now loud and proud to wear pinks and purples …black is now kept for funerals !!
Enjoy the rest of your day.

I know how to colour coordinate and not over do it.  This is me in my most causal outfit

Ha ha …Lesley …love it …I’ve been looking to see if there is a colour you have forgotten but I think you have covered every possible shade !!
Xxx

Janey, those gladioli will really zing. I’m way behind you, but the allotment is my excuse…We’ve been busy there whenever it’s fine. I only have narrow borders except for the corner, so I can’t get too much in, and to widen the borders I’d have to make a new path, which isn’t likely to happen anytime soon. But when the allotment is sorted I’m going to do a bit of a redesign.

Carolyn, l think I’d supervise the gardening with coffee and bicky in hand if I could, but it wouldn’t get done. So l reckon you’ve got the right idea…

Lesley, love the picture!

Oh Clair that is an amazing photo!!! The pair of you look just brilliant!!! Love it, love it, love it!!!

Gorgeous  Clair, and I mean both of you.  You’d def win any glamorous grandma contest, you look far too young though.  I bet you didn’t want to leave him.  Your life will never be the same now that special little man is in it xx

So that’s my week of freedom over with then. Back to the hell hole tomorrow. ?

I can honestly say the thought of it is making me feel rather sick. Hubby has sat tonight and looked at finances  and I can give in my notice when ever I want to which is very comforting.

Will I sleep tonight? Probably not. There’s always tomorrow. Xxx

Thanks Ruby. Very wise words indeed. I’m struggling with this feeling of being defeated, or giving up. I’ve never shirked away from anything in my life and this doesn’t sit well, but none of us know what’s ahead and I don’t want to waste any of this precious 2nd chance I’ve been given on being miserable 10 hours a day.

There is only one thing I can do to take back control and that’s to leave work Xxx

Beth, that’s fantastic.  Giving up work is the best thing I ever did.  I used to love my job and never thought I’d be happy at home but the last few years at work were miserable and full of stress.  I too hate giving up on something, but sometimes you really have to stand back and weigh things up.  It’s amazing the economies you can make and it’s so worth.  Even having to clean the oven instead of buying a new one when it gets dirty is a small price to pay for the peace of mind lol.  I always thought I’d do some kind of charity work when I retired as having worked full time all my adult life I thought I’d get bored, it’s coming up 2 years now and have to say I find plenty to do.  You might even find that now you know you have the option to tell b****kchops where to go things might get be easier and he won’t be able to get to you so much xx

Thank you <3 xx Ruby your absolutely right wonderful words of wisdom xx
Beth listen to your inner self you know the best thing to do and I bet there is a wonderful new adventure just waiting for you xxxx
Much love to you all xxxxx

Ladies

I am signing off for the night, watching Good Karma and then I need to get stuff sorted for the morning, so I wish you all love and a good nights sleep, or the best you possibly can.

So…saw the surgeon at 9.30 this am for a review and full manual examination of both ‘sides’. There wasn’t a mammogram, didn’t think there would be anyway as it’s not been a year since surgery yet. She confirmed that there is nothing there of concern and both sides are fine, including lymph nodes. The hard areas I have been fretting about are scar tissue and exactly what and where she would expect them. So, that’s good news…now to await the mammogram and get myself in another stew lol

Clair, look at YOU, you look wonderful…with serene contentment on your face ! :smileyvery-happy:

TEST back Delly ! :smileyvery-happy: Ooooo your ‘test’ post has disappeared now,  I didn’t even know you could delete posts.
