Progesterone, assorted other hormones and fluffy cake

Afternoon fluffies and a belated happy Easter

weve had a lovely quiet 4 days here in west Wales and we’ve not had a drop of rain. It’s not been warm but I can live with it just being dry. The traffic around here is crazy at this time of year - there’s a reason why 4 million tourists visit Pembrokeshire each year, but they all have to come via Carmarthen and it creates a bit of a bottle neck!! We ‘slipped out’ for a spot of shopping on Friday- big mistake as we spent an hour trying get the mile and half home. We ended up eating our lunch in the car in the queues! So we’ve just pottered around the house for the rest of the weekend and to be honest I have been glad for the rest and the peace and quiet.

back to the happy house tomorrow but at least I’m ticking the weeks off now.

Dizzy, I hope all goes well for your OH tomorrow. It’ll be good to get it done and as you say, Im sure it’s just a precaution. I’ll be thinking about you both and as always we will all be with you in your back pocket for support.

Time for a cuppa now and possibly possibly finish off the last of the Easter egg before we both start cutting down on the rubbish food from tomorrow. There is only so long you can comfort eat for lol ?

house in the country on now from South Wales. Let’s see what they can get for their budget

catch the rest you lovely ladies later xxx

Hello Helena
Funny how you should mention plastic boxes …my life seems to consist of putting things in plastic boxes too …tapestry stuff does get messy if u don’t keep it tidy …just been looking on e bay for more tapestry canvas ideas as I’m on my last one now.
Why, oh why did we buy a house so near McDonalds …it’s just too easy to pop in and get it …I’ve had two lots this weekend but blame it on grandson who is staying !!
Xxx

So tell me something.

I made a double Sunday lunch yesterday so that we had enough for today without me having to cook. I was fine.  Very little pain and managed ok.

heated it and dished it up this evening and good god I’m having terrible stabbing pains now. Honestly taking my breath away. When will this ever end? How can something so innocuous cause so much pain?

Answers on a postcard please or a stuck down envelope. (Showing my age) ?

Beth I thought I’d send a virtual postcard! I found the stabbing pains started about 3 or 4 months after radiotherapy (if yours are at site of lump?). The BCN told me it was nerve damage repairing. It does seem to have past finally other than the odd twinge and seems to have improved as my poor boob has slowly deflated!! Unfortunately what really helps me is a well fitting non-wired bra. I have to squeeze my good boob in (what is the equivalent of a muffin top for boobs?!),so that the poorly one is supported. My days of doing a Charlie Dimmock in the garden are long gone! Having written all the above, I think this maybe the 2nd time you’ve had this, so hope it’s soon calmed down and you can enjoy your roast.
Dizzy I hope all goes well with your hubby. A walk through bluebells sounds lovely. I couldn’t bring myself to touch the slugs, just flick them off with a plant tag - bloomin things!
You sound very organised Helena. I half finished a tapestry when my daughter was small. Years later I found all my threads had gone to make friendship bracelets for her friends - they were much nicer than my bodged attempts at sewing!
So what are the rest of you up to? Did your case make it Lesley and Ann I hope you caught up with Line of Duty! Xx

Beth, I guess there’s no logic to it, good days and bad days maybe happen for no reason sometimes. I get stabbing pains sometimes, they take my breath away for a few seconds and then they’re gone, so if what you have is the same but for a long time then that must be horrible. As Janey said, I think mine are definitely nerve pains, it’s almost like an electric shock. Mine just seem to be random, not connected to whether I’ve done anything strenuous. Hope it’s settled down for you now anyway. Maybe when you get some physiotherapy for the lymphoedema that will help.

Janey, I don’t know if it’s any use to you, but I have a partial prosthetic that I’ve never used, but can’t give back to the NHS. If you found it fitted, It would fill the cup on the poorly side and let you wear the right size cup for the good side. And it’s partly adjustable. Anyway, if you want to try it I can put it in the post, and if it’s no good you can bin it.

I’ve missed my Broadchurch fix, we have last week’s recorded because we were away, so we’ll catch up on both episodes tomorrow. In the meantime I’m working hard on finishing off the chocolates ready to get back to the sort of diet tomorrow.

Helena, I’m with you, McDonalds aren’t really my thing, I’d rather have an Indian takeaway, or proper English chip shop chips.

Sorry to hear about the pains, Beth, its most likely the healing process with nerve endings firing off & the tissue knitting together. I remember having similar pains & I only had minor surgery.
Well, we had a very mundane Monday, did the washing & ironing, cleaned the windows inside & out then myself & OH tried to replace the bath taps - one of those jobs you wish you hadn’t started ? so over to the plumber tomorrow…!
Yes, Janey, we got caught up with ‘line of duty’ & the devious Huntley. BTW, in Dr Who, was it a picture of John Sim’s character as a boy on the desk next to River Song at the end?
night night fluffies
ann xxx

Dizzy that would be great, as I’m not sure how I’d get on with one. I’m one maybe two cups smaller, although at this rate by the end of the week even smaller!
Back to work today but only a 3 day week, as a long weekend coming up for my surprise birthday trip. Hoping there will be time for TV analysis by the work kettle!
Ann we thought we saw a flash of John Sim at the end of the trailer - hope it wasn’t a photo, as he was great. Mind you I liked the current master/mistress in Green Wing, still one of my favourite comedies.
I hope all fluffy ones have good days today. Xxx

Morning everyone, Dizzy hope all goes well for your hubby today xx
Janey I’ve just finished watching green wing on now box sets I love it. Xxx
Beth I too still get the odd stabbing pains, nothing like a painful reminder as if we need it xxx
Back to work today so putting my big girl pants on and getting on with it xxx
Much love to everyone and I’ll catch up later have a good day xxx

The OH’s gastroscopy has come back clear, which is a relief. It was so nice not to be the patient today, I’m happy to take a supporting role from now on. Though I hope both of us are done with medical scares for a while!

Janey, if you send me a PM with an address, I’ll post it to you, either work or home, whichever you prefer.

Well, we have a lovely sunny morning here so once the offspring have left I’ll be in the garden again, and possibly the allotment, I’m ignoring the ironing mountain while the sun’s out.

Janey, that is fantastic news, it must have been torture waiting for the genetic result, even more so because it would have had an effect on your whole family. Just thinking about your daughter also being affected is horrifying. And the potential future issues for you as well. You’ve been so brave and patient through all this, I don’t know how you’ve done it.

I’m so doing a happy dance for you, I really think we need to be ringing the old rads bell as well!

And now, Janey, where did I miss the potential heart attack?? Or were you keeping that particular worry all to yourself? Anyway, I’m so happy for you on all fronts, hope there’s going to be a glass of something to celebrate tonight.

Thank you! I like the idea of a celebratory dance and bell ringing again!!
I think I’m getting my threads crossed and posted elsewhere about heart test. I had a funny turn at work and when I mentioned to my GP last week she got all serious and gave me an ECG and sent off bloods, as apparently they can test for signs of a heart attack. I was and remain convinced it was stress of work and genetics worry. Even more so having reacted so strongly to good news today.
Helena they do say gardening is good for the soul. I’ve just picked the last of the purple sprouting brocolli and seed for next year has just germinated - I’m seeing the emotional in everything!
Clair, did the big pants help?
Hugs xx

Janey my lovely you have made my day,
I even got a bit teary reading your fantastic news I’m so pleased for you. Xxxxxxxx
And I’m very glad your heart is ok too xxx
Today was a better day being at work definitely helps keep my mind a tiny bit saner and after talking to a friend who’s wife had also had bc several years ago he said the same thing happened to her getting a cyst on her ovary too and everything was fine when she’d had it removed, funny old world.
I also had good news on the money side of things, I’ll still get full pay sick pay for a further 45 days then it’ll go to half pay I’m so relieved as I was panicking about how we were going to manage without my wage.
Janey your totally right you lot are fantastic friends tons of love xxxxx

Dizzy I’m so glad hubby’s results were all good too xxxx

Thank you so much. You are a lovely bunch and Clair what a huge relief about your pay. Xx

Dizzy and janey

such good news for you both. I am absolutely delighted and relieved all round. ???. I love seeing good news on here!!!

Clair, I. So glad you’ve had good news about your pay too. I totally understand the financial worries - my hubby has 5 weeks left in work and I have 6!! Think we’ll be on bread and dripping after that lol. One hell of a way to lose weight!!

so my day started off well on the food front. Healthy breakfast and lunch which was great. HOWEVER I made the mistake of going to Tesco after work and wandered up the reduced Easter egg aisle. BIG MISTAKE!! Two half price choc eggs in the basket and hubby and I have opened and eaten them tonight. Chocolate overload lol

anyways, this pic is very appropriate after today!! Xxx

WOwsers. …lots of good news and happiness on here today! Janey, I diagnosed the potential heart attack as a stress response didn’t I now lol mind, better to trust the medics and their tests than some lay person with tea leaves lolol absolutely blimping fantastic about your results after such a long and stressful wait.
Great news for Dizzy and Beth too! I go off fir a few days and come back to lots of positive stuff. Has Rubycat had results yet ?

Sorry read back properly…Beth didn’t have good news…she had stabbing pains. Oops not quite the right response from me there with congratulatory words. Lol Beth the stabby pains only stopped for me about 2 months ago, and that wpukd make it 10 months after surgery. I think also you have been more sensitive and susceptible to nerve pain , so don’t fret…time will heal.

Hello fluffies
Well Janey …good news so u can now relax and enjoy this lovely sunshine.
Rubycat
I love your pics and always tune in to see what u have posted every day.
Hello everyone
Hope you are all well and not too stressed out with results and worries .
Hugs xxxc

Hello all, haven’t we got some lovely weather? I hope Lesley has this sunshine in East Anglia. But my garden is so dry, we’ve just gone over to a water meter so I’m seeing pound signs in front of my eyes as I turn the hose on.

Rubycat, I love the ironing mountain picture.! I don’t know how you always find the perfect illustrations for everything.

Catch up with everyone later, I’m off for a shower now, having hauled compost and bark around, I look like I’ve rolled in it. Carolyn, you have the right idea, directing operations from a deckchair sounds very appealing.

Hello fluffy friends Ive had a mixed day of good and sad news. I’ve been excused from jury duty and I’m hoping it’s permanently do that’s my great news.
Sadly my friend who was recently diagnosed with stomach cancer after having been clear of ovarian cancer for 11 years was told today there is nothing more that can be done as the tumor has intertwined with her blood vessels and her bladder any surgery they were thinking of is now just to high risk and the only option is to continue with the chemo
I’m gutted for her and the family as they are so lovely.
I also had a message from my drs surgery saying I need a tamoxifen review and to make an appointment to see the Dr, nurse and have a blood test, Has anyone else had to do this?
It’s beautiful weather so we were out all afternoon on the bikes at school lovely
Dizzy have you got water butt’s?
Right I’m off for a soak in the tub catch up later love Clair xxx
