Does anyone else find the prosthesis a little warm and uncomfortable in this heat or just me?
It’s my first summer with one. Thanks for any suggestions.

I haven’t bothered wearing mine. I’m happy to be flat and cool. No-one really notices I’m flat on one side and if they do and have a problem with it, that’s on them not me. x

I use knitting ed knickers which are made of natural fibres and are light. You can get one free at https://knittedknockersuk.com/
So you can try them to see if they are right for you.

I tried that once and my hubby although he only meant it as a joke told his sister I was to lazy that morning to put my boob on.
I do know he was only joking but it hurt and made me feel too self conscious to do it again . I know I’m probably being too sensitive and hopefully in time I’ll get over myself and be ok with it.

Awww @cattyg like you say, he didn’t mean any harm by it, and he probably feels terrible about it. Our sensitivity runs high during this difficult time and what we might have been able to take on the chin pre cancer can radically change can’t it?
I hope you can find something more comfortable and also that you can work on feeling comfortable to go au naturel again in the future.

This is my first summer too. I had the Mastectomy in march so its all very new to me still. I still haven’t found the right bra/prostheses combination for me which isn’t helping, although I’m going to book in for a fitting at my hospital soon.
I received the knitted knockers from the lovely ladies and although they feel comfortable, I do have to watch what I’m wearing as they can look a little lumpy sometimes.
Yesterday I didn’t wear a bra because I was so uncomfortable the day before with sweating due to the heat but then my husband said we needed to nip out and straight away I said I needed to get changed so I could put a bra on, he said he hadn’t even noticed I wasn’t wearing one 
. Mind you after being together for 42 years he doesn’t notice too much lol. Anyway, I was brave and went out without a bra and it felt good, to be honest I think I feel worse wearing one due to the rising and the prothesis slowly making its way out . The only worry I have is I don’t want my good boob to sag even more than it already does. I also would only go braless with a baggy top.
I really hope you find a way through this hot weather but I would say when your at home take your bra off, it will start to give you confidence x

M&S and Amazon do prosthetic covers so that lovely silicon is not against your sin. Other places probably sell them , but I am thinking about speed of getting them for this hot spell. They are easily washed. M&S used to do them in packs of 3 beige. Now they are one white, one , black and one beige - very annoying. Well it is to me as I rarely wear black or white undies.
As I am big busted (D cup), so I don’t really like to go without during the day, especially as I like wearing shift dresses in this weather. I have been popping in and out of the garden too. I am wearing my Primark prosthetic. £6, various sizes, right or left. It’s not the best of shapes, but it’s certainly cooler to wear.
There is a bright side to all of this. I delight in telling my friends that I do not have rivers of sweat running down between my boobs at night! Every cloud!

Every day that goes by leaves me thinking that I really want the other one off. I’d rather be fully flat. I am actually considering asking the question, but I guess the answer will be ‘yes if you go private’. x

I must admit that had crossed my mind too. When it all happens you don’t really get time to think it all through 100%

Just did a bit of googling and technically the NHS could do it under the Aesthetics banner. It might be something that would need strong advocacy but they could possibly agree to it. I am going to give it a few months and see how I feel. I might ask the question at my next appointment.

I have been doing the same. Wearing full shirts with lots of gathers works pretty well. I had 2 infections within my incision due to heat in that area so no more!

Yes, I am also considering having the other breast off and if I find another lump etc I wouldn’t hesitate, especially with this being a recurrence.
Like you, I do wonder if the NHS would do the operation so it would be interesting to find out. Maybe it’s a bit early for us to make that decision and hopefully we find a way to work around our new body.

My surgeon on one of my check ups asked if I was OK and if I had any change of mind about implants or going flat. I said I was fine but got the impression she would have helped if I had asked. Hope you get an equally sympathetic surgeon Sue.

Hi there, I don’t use the NHS boob. I found it heavy. I bought sponge/foam washable one from M and S. I have 4. Primark also do them. Much better in my opinion. Good luck x

I’m not in this situation so haven’t tried any but was worried at one point that I might be so overprepared by doing a bit of research . Have you tried Wewearboost.com ? Not the cheapest but breathable and you can swim in them which is why I was so interested . Hope you find something more comfortable for this heat xx

Snap, it’s unbearable to wear so I leave it off wherever possible, depending on what I’m wearing and where I’m going. I try and wear loose clothing that doesn’t cling so it’s hard to see I’m flat on one side.
