Thanks Nell. I’ve been all up and down today, one minute convinced it’ll be a breeze - especially after my BC nurse said I might be out on Wednesday! - the next in a blue funk (as the jolly boarding-school girls I used to read about in my long-ago youth would have said - anyone else remember the Chalet School series?)
hi Susanne,
You have probably already gone into hospital, but in case you haven’t don’t worry about being in a ‘blue funk’, its normal, and if you have any you could take a Chalet book in with you to 'while ’ away the time. I do remember them, but I used to read Malory towers books, again boarding school stuff!! Have moved on a bit since then though.
Hi Lulu hope your ok for tomorrow too, only one more day! Yeh! Hi Piper hope you are recovering well, and You too Sandra, got it over with now eh…On to the next step, which is recovery!!
Will be thinking of you, when you feel able, come back and chat to the rest of us. Good vibes coming your way >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Hi girls,
Hope your ops have gone really well! Lulu good luck for today! All have a good recovery.
Helenx
Thanks Nell for those good vibes, hey Susanne and Lulu how are you both doing ? Don’t know how some of you can have this op and be in and out within a day, I was floored by the anaesthetic, right enough I didn’t go down til 1.30pm and expected to be up and aboutfar too quickly…oooh I’m just too impatient. Had a fine old time in hosp,op monday drains out and home Thursday. I’m fine for a bit then am just absolutely knackered, and it’s not like I’m doing anything ! I suppose it just all takes it out of us in different ways and we all take different times to recover from it all. Trying very hard not to think about the results that are due at 4.20pm precisely next Wed …best concentrate on doing my exercises and sleeping at the mo.
Big gentle hugs to all
Sandra x
Hi Sandra,
Had my op on 18/03. Thought everything was going well, but
yesterday under my arm has swollen up and felt unwell again. Went
to see my nurse at Doctors Surgery, who said all healed well, but
I had probably been doing too much. (had been trying dresses on for my friends wedding, but after not going out for more than a week
was going crazy indoors. She has prescribed some stronger painkillers, but I havn’t been out of bed all day today and have
been sick tonight, felt totally out of it and couldn’t keep my
eyes open.
Your lucky getting results so quick, my results are 2 weeks after
op date. Getting mine on 05/03.
I have sent you a message to you inbox as well. I was in hospital
for same time as you. Was glad to come home, but it is very hard
not to do anything around the house.
Glad to see your out anyway and first part is over. Let me know
how you get on with results and treatment x
Hi Marble
I know how you feel about the ‘wait’…it’s one of the worst parts isn’t it? I get my results next Friday…that will make it 4 weeks from my op. The positive thing about that is, is that …well don’t know if I can think of a positive thing…Oh yeah…it means that they aren’t in any hurry to get started with treatment…so a plus then!!! Will think about you on Thursday…think a few of us are getting results next week! Hey ho!

Hi Everyone, and thanks for your good wishes. I finally escaped this morning - once the drain was removed. Anaesthetic was MUCH better than before, no nausea or dizziness, was awake within a couple of hours and almost making sense (which anyone who knows me would tell you is an improvement on normal!)
Not too uncomfortable, did my exercises religiously. Also as soon as I was able to safely do so I took to toddling up and down the main hospital corridor - first on hubby’s arm, later by myself. Helped ward off going stir crazy, and also helped with breathing and circulation. The nurse said I was to be careful and not do too much for forty-six weeks - well, it might have been four-to-six weeks, but I prefer my version.
So, first step (hopefully) completed - will find out next Wednesday if they cleared the margins safely. Then it’s on to Rads at Royal Shrewsbury with Dr.Agrawal. Guess I should be graduating to the Treatment forum now!
Hi all I had lumpectomy with sentinel node biopsy and 4 axillary glands removed on 17th Feb.Have been doing fine but today have stabbing.nervy pain below site of lumpectomy which is not relieved by cocdamol and brufen.Anyone had this feeling?
Hi Susanne
Great to see you recovering well…Seems like there will be a few getting their results next week!!So its a case of watch this space!!
Helen x
hi susanne - I’m being treated at RSH too - well op at PRH as it was quicker and I saw dr Agra last week - starting chemo this week…whre are you from then? mary x
Hi Mary - I live in Telford, so PRH was nearly on my doorstep. Was in Ward 12, and with Mr.Usman for the op - all the staff were lovely, even the agency staff. Had a great barrell of a male agency nurse to take out my drain this morning, and he was so gentle I never even felt it - when he said it was out, I thought it was a trick to relax me so he could take it out!
I used to live in Shawbirch so was nearly on the doorstep too but we’re now out the other side of shrewsbury nr welshpool…mr hinton was my surgeon and he was lovely…mary x
I’ve seen him previously - I have a duct ectasia in my right breast. Ironic that’s always been the troublesome side, and now it’s my left side that’s thrown up the trouble! I was also seen by his wife on one occasion - I was cheeky and asked one of the nurses if it was just a coincidence that she had the same name. We seem to be pretty lucky compared to some areas, to judge from the stories I’ve seen on here - PRH seems to be pretty much on the ball.
I’m so looking forward to sleeping in my own bed tonight. The op site is really quite comfortable, except my other arm keeps sticking to the back of the dressing! I already had one good three-hour doze. Just the thought of not being woken at six to have my blood pressure checked is sheer bliss!
*sigh* the long wait for my results is beginning to get me down - don’t go until 25th, which will be four weeks after op. Trying to put a positive spin on this - they would probably already have my path results, and if it was trubbble they’d have called me in sooner… wouldn’t they?
Scars are healing up nicely, though the one in my arm-pit has gone a bit hard. Should I be bothered about this? Still can’t lift my arm above shoulder height, which is a bit annoying - I know people on here have talked about cording, but does it get better?
The decorators have finally finished and gone. It’s lovely to have the house back to ourselves, although in a way it was quite nice to have the distraction. Carpets next week, new suite the following week, then it goes on the market. Fingers crossed, Devon by Xmas!
Hi
Just been reading the threads on this post and noticed that some of you are being treated at PRH Telford.
I was diagnosed with BC on Weds. I am hoping for some reassurance as inititally I was told the results from fine needle aspiration were fine and not BC (2 weeks ago)but was called back on Weds and had mammo, ultrasound and another biopsy.Altho the mammo and ultrasound are not clear it is extremely probable i have BC and the biopsy results are just a formality apparantly.Presumably they are pretty sure now from the initall fine needle aspitration cells they have.
I have to wait two weeks for the full report and results of second biopsy as consultant Mr Hinton is on holiday next week. All a bit frustrating as I just want to get on with it now. He has intimated that a lumpectomy will be the best course of action.
I’m 37 with two young children and very scared.

Hi Freddie - do you live local to Telford? Mr.Hinton has an excellent reputation - one of the best in the country, apparently, so you are in good hands. And the nurses on Ward 12 (which is where all the “BC ladies” seem to go) are lovely - they really seemed to regard it as a personal challenge to make sure we were all as comfortable as possible. And in the evening, you can see wild rabbits out of the window, hip-hopping across the grass!
freddie - I had my op at PRH!! Now having chemo at Shrewsbury - I’m out nr welshpool…was it mr hinton you saw? mary x
hi susanne - how are you doing?? mary x
Hi
Yes it was Mr Hinton I saw- I’ve heard he is excellent so that is quite heartening to know
I live in Telford too!

I seem to have lost this thread.
Results yesterday, all clear and 5 lymph nodes clear!!
Radiotherapy and hormone treatment to be sorted out with oncologist next Thursday. Incidentally my results were going to be given to me next Thursday originally. Asked receptionist any chance for a week earlier and “no chance” given. Asked BCN and “yes! of course we can squeeze you in.”
Asked for path report from BCN yesterday and she asked why I wanted it!?! Errrr…because it’s about me. She said she’ll send it but not to look on the internet to interpret the results.
Just waiting for it to be sent so I can get straight onto the internet and look at the results. Honestly, am I not allowed or something?? lol
Susanne and Sandra is everything ok so far?
Nell, looking at other threads I gather you’re having a bit of a difficult time at the moment. All good wishes x
