Hello all
I haven’t posted for some time as have been slowly getting back to some normality since mastectomy and reconstruction my op was in march
I have had a lump appear on my chest above reconstruction site and was referred for a ct scan for which I’m waiting the results but everything I have been told is that with no lymph node involvement there is not much chance of spread
But I have read a lot of other articles stating otherwise - has anyone had this experience? Of recurrence or spread with no lymph node involvement?
I hopeful it’s nothing but all I seem to do lately is worry xx

I developed metastatic cancer via vascular invasion, ie it had spread through blood not lymph. The secondary site was my liver. Grade 3 TNBC. Small breast tumour, no lymph node involved.

In 2018 I had WLE, 0/3 LN ER8+ PR0, HER2 low. Radiotherapy and hormone blocking for 2 years. 2023 progression to bones - wide spread. A year on targeted treatment and now looking at what next after progression- bone only.
I hope for you that it is not progression.

Hopefully yours is nothing but I understand it’s very worrying. Uncertainty is always the worst thing. Mine is in remission following immunotherapy and ablation.

Hi hevski75,
Of course your worried and every right tobe, i dont think the worry of cancer returning never really leaves us once diagnosed.
I too had grade 2 invasive lobular bc, with no lymph node involvement. 2x lumpecomies, rads and A1’s meds, im sorry to say, mine has spread to bones. Not 100% sure if by blood or nodes as was told invasive lobular is very sneaky in how it grows. Sometimes wish id gone down the mastecomy route but too late now.
I so hope and pray that this isnt the case for you as everyone’s case, body is so different.
Take care

Hi hevski75,
I dont mind you asking, discovered in december 2023, 2 years and 9months after first diagnoses. My mets are extensive, so im guessing ive had secondary breast cancer grade 4 for about 6mths to a year prior to december 2023.
Please let me know if you want to that is how you get on with your scan/results
Best wishes

Hi, just reading your posts as I’m going to make a GP appointment as I have a lump I’m not sure is new, or just part of the general lumpiness of last year’s radiotherapy. I also had no lymph node involvement, but recently have been getting pain in my thigh, even when lying down. GP thought it unlikely to be bone cancer as I only had low grade cancers. Can any of you tell me how you first found out it had spread to your bones? Thank you.

Hello sunlover100
Please ask for a MRI scan referral, any new lumps/bumps, on/off pain in any part of the body especially after having breast cancer even low grade should be investigated. This is the new proceedures that all gp’s should be aware of and following, please dont be side lined or think you are being a nuisance, because believe me you are not.
Push for tests
Sending hugs
Hi Purplerose, thank you for responding. Well, I contacted my breast care nurse who has booked me in for Friday for the breast lump which is great! She said they don’t investigate bone pain unless it’s severe as otherwise they’d be checking out everyone’s minor aches and pains (true). Got a GP appointment today (ours is great!) and the GP examined my leg and didn’t feel anything unusual, but given history referred me for blood tests, an x ray and an ultrasound. Result!

Hi purplerose, thank you for thinking of me, it is lovely knowing there is such a community here! Well I had my breast clinic appointment today, I had an examination and ultrasound, and happy to say they said that it all looked normal (well normal as in the expected nodular tissue post-radiotherapy). So all good! Just need to get the leg x-ray results now! Hope you’re doing ok. x

Morning sunlover100
Im doing okay, anxiety with up and coming ct scan results next week, its a ongoing scan every 3 months to see if progression or remained same, totally out of my control.
Im pleased for you that the ultra sound showed only nodule scar tissue on breast, im the same, it can be quiet tender at times, but i know what it is.
Wishing you a clear result on your leg x-ray and that some light can be thrown on the pain you are experincing.
Hugs to you
Oh bless you I can only imagine what you are going through each time this appt comes around
Really hope for the best results for you - sending positive vibes x
