Good luck @sunshineandunicorns xx
Hi @nicnac17 @sunshineandunicorns
I would check with your team or a BCN nurse 0808 800 6000 about plucking or waxing. I was told not to do either or wet shave as it can cause damage to the skin which in turn can cause infection which could trigger temperature.
I invested in the electric shaver for legs and underarms, once they were gone with chemo I put them away but itās surprising how quickly they return and have continued with the electric because of cuts and lymphoedema. For my face I use the JML electric face and eyebrow Skincare Tools and Accessories | JML they donāt get as close but you are doing less damage to your skin.
Again double check with a medical professional.
@ake Iām also HER2+ and -the others. Think weāre on similar cycle treatments.
I found the first cycle was squits for 3 weeks and the second cycle was a bit the opposite. I ended up with a couple of piles too and because of that had to go to A&E once, the first week after my first cycle, not as dramatic as you (bless you), I was home after a few hours.
I hope youāre feeling better and your next cycles are a bit easier. Iāve been told by my aunt (whoās a retired palliative nurse with bc herself at the moment and mid treatment, sheās knows so much) Iām/weāre on a particularly brutal cocktail so be kind to yourself, weāre being really battered about.
Is yours triple postive then? Sorry, i think that means you get everythingā¦its no fun is it? The good thing is the HER2+ seems to be very reaponsive to Herceptin/Phesgo so it has all got a purpose even if if is making us sick! Iāve got round 2 tomorrow, Iām doing alright, feeling positive mostly. Hair is hanging on in there despite some shedding. Will be in for a long day -8 or more hours I think but we will see. Good luck and thanks, it is nice to meet someone on a similar regime. Go gently with you too.
Not triple positive, just HER2+.
My hair is hanging in there, I have treatment 3 tomorrow/Wednesday and have somehow managed to hold onto about 40-50% of it.
They may have stopped me cold capping last cycle cos I had a bad reaction (not to cold capping) and they said it wouldnāt be possible to continue as I was. My oncologist has said she doesnāt understand that as the cold capping is completely unrelated so sheās said to get them to call and explain to her before they refuse (potentially) tomorrow.
I wonder what will happen, Iām terrified of tomorrow (really donāt want another reaction, it was horrific) but they are reducing my docetaxel by 25% and monitoring/administering it slower so hopefully I donāt have a reaction. Steroids as usual waking me at 3am so Iāll be knackered regardless (ugh).
*Confirmed cold capping stopped. Because they were to take longer administering the meds they said it would mean having the cap on longer than usual and thatās not healthy. Oh well, I tried.
Had another reaction to docetaxel so looks like I wonāt be having that in future, not as scary as last time (thanks goodness). Dry cough and the air in front of me felt really warm, very weird reaction.
@sez hope all goes to plan today for you.
@ake how are you after your second cycle. Hopefully you are doing okay. I have my second one on Tuesday next week and already feeling nervous about the side effects.
Iām not cold capping and my hair is already starting to shed. Will be shaving it off as soon as it gets too much
Morning all, hope youāre all doing ok.
Iāve got my blood tests this morning to see if I can have chemo tomorrow, hopefully my liver has righted itself
Still got a touch of cystitis, hoping that wonāt cause any delays, I want that round 3 ticked off!
Good luck today.
@galdiolus ive got my 2nd one on Tuesday too. Dreading feeling so sick again !
Hope everything goes smoothly for those having treatments / waiting results xx
@epic1 did they give you anti sickness to take home? I was given three days worth and that helped me.
I am trying to focus on the positive that after Tuesday I am 1/3 through and only 4 left to go (hopefully)
Let me know how it goes for you on Tuesday x
Iām beginning to feel a bit of a fraud being on here. I had my 4th lot yesterday and I have nothing to report. Iām ER positive and HER2+ and Iām having the usual treatment - Chemo (Paclitaxel) weekly for 12 weeks and Trastuzumab injections 3-weekly for a year. But miraculously I havenāt suffered any hideous side effects apart from chemo rash thatās getting better and hair shedding that isnāt catastrophic yet.
You probably donāt want to hear this so I think Iāll drop out for now unless/until I suffer a sudden dramatic decline.
Iām similar to you. I donāt take my anti sickness tablets as caused pain or diarreah and I donāt feel sick. I just get some before chemo by iv. I do have a mouth ulcer though. My neuts were very low last week so just hope they are OK for Friday. Iām seeing my onc next Friday as had lots of questions about what happens after my op. His letter didnāt mention Kadcyla but if I donāt get a complete response I move to that. Itās for HER2. I asked about it anyway regardless of response as sounds like itās better than Phesgo by 5%. I also asked as Letrozole failed me what I will take instead etc. I see my surgeon on the 23rd and I have a CT on the 11th November to check the lung nodules (scary). I have a covid jab on Friday after chemo hopefully. It was going to be chemo on Thursday when I booked the jab. I am also considering a second opinion.
Donāt be daft, no oneās judging. Youāre just as valid as everyone else. I havenāt had chemo rash but all my hairs gone. Iām lovingly known as peanut now! Iāve had more issues with my two ops and a precondition shoulder injury. Iāve just done round 2 (3 weeks apart) and steroids still on till tomorrow then Iāll be a zombie peanut. Sickness but no need to take the tablets theyāve sent me home with.
Acid reflux is back as in first week so I shall manage with diet and not eat what burned my throat last time (Iām writing it down I am that person).
Weāre all different Magl so donāt feel a fraud. X
Aw @magl thereās no need to drop out! We can celebrate the good here as well as bewail the bad
@nicnac17 that is music to My ears, to hear of someone else like me I have also been writing everything down every day
Like you I had the awful acid but I was prescribed Omeprozole which must as I didnāt want it has really helped. Although two weeks in and my throat and mouth are still suffering
positive responses are good too the forums for everyone so dip in and out as you feel you need too everyone gets each other through itās good you share your story too magl Shi xx
Linda follow your teams guidance on the Covid jab Shi xx
Just to add to my tale of (relatively) robust health Iāve been on Letrozole and Adcal since May, ie four months, with not a single ill effect.
Iām going to the hairdresser this afternoon to get some advice about my hair. While Iām in town I plan to stock up on toffees.
