That sounds perfect. I also love walking, anywhere in the woids and we are blessed with several on our doirstep. Still getting our walking boots on at the weekend but im puffing like an old man! Feeling very unfit. My breathing is definitely been effected. Hopefully my previous levels of unfitness will return afterwards
Iām also up for this @rosegarden1 - thanks for agreeing to be the focal point. I think I have PMd you my number but no idea if I have done so correctly as the private message function on here is a bit strange!
My impression from references ppl have made is that there are a fair few in the midlands so maybe Mids would be easy for most geographically speaking (Iām in the North West, Cheshire). I could be wildly wrong of course, + that rules out seaside which is a nice idea too.
@rosegarden1 snap, my halfway point is 19.11 too. I had a phone call with my actual oncologist today & feel marginally better about what is to come. There is a blog on macmillan about toxic positivity & itās a bloody good read if youāve not seen it.
Where is 19.11 as a midway point?
I meant 19th November @luckyduck1 . That bit was in reference to @rosegarden1 saying that would be her halfway point thro chemo, mine too xx
Ahhhh, i thought it was a code for a map point for a midway meetup destination
I need some sleep! Not much last night, steroids and pre chemo anxiety.
No4 done, first Docetaxel, no issues, wait for side effects to kick in now.
All 20 chairs were full today and they were held up waiting for meds. Appointment was 11.45 and i didnt get in a chair and pre cold cap on till 14.25
Home at 17.45
Long day
Thanks Sunshine and Lucky Duck. Got your private message and mobile number and will start setting up our whatsapp group tomorrow.
Everyone- if you would like to join, please message me and I can add you to the group list.
We will use the whatsapp group to arrange a post- treatment Summer meet-up/gettogether and keep in touch beyond treatment.
Glad Lucky Duck that your treatment cycle start went ok today - long day indeed. And Sunshine, fingers crossed for bloods being ok, so we can start next cycle on time.
Looking forward to relaxing a bit the next days before next week.
Take care everyone,
Rose
Blood tests this morning to see if I can have my first paclitaxel on Thursdayā¦hoping my liver has recovered!
In other news, I think Iām going to put my Christmas tree up today. Iām in need of cheer
Morning Sept starters. Hope you get the sign off for paclitaxol Sharlou. I had my first one yesterday. Not sure if its the antihistamine infusion they gave me first or the fact I never sleep well the night before hospital, but I slept very well last night and feel okay today. Waiting for side effects - although the registrar I saw on Friday said dont expect too many to appear after 1st weekā¦more likely to get pins and needles and bone ache after a few sessionsā¦lets see. I got a bit cocky on EC then it kicked my arse on round 3.
Donāt think itās inevitable that youāll get hideous side effects with Paclitaxel. Iām having my 11th of 12 today and apart from minor irritations - spots (dealt with), nose (dealt with), diarrhoea (dealt with) - Iāve been completely unaffected by it. Iāve been scared of catching something through my lowered immune system so Iāve more or less been in purdah for nearly three months but Iām looking forward to freedom after next week.
Thanks @magl and @nellyh - Iām pretty apprehensive! Am I the only one having taxol fortnightly? I just want the first one over with so I have an idea of what to expect
Morning everyone,
Sharlou keeping fingers crossed for your bloods/liver results so you can start with the paclitaxol cycle.
Good idea reg Christmas tree. started to think about Advent calendars and Christmas decorations tooā¦
Love to all,
Rose
PS: and Sunshine and Unicorns thank you for the hint about the Macmillan toxic positivity thread yesterday. Will have a read today
For everyone who is starting on Docetaxel- my first 9 days on cycle 2 TC were bad but feeling improved since then and week 3 has been a good one so far. Here is hope this is a patternā¦
Hi Sharlou
Ive not seen many on the fortnightly but I read oncologists favouring that way more and more so you may well have a more forward thinking unit? Who knows in all this. It seems tough fortnightly but even with delays you could be through it faster so fingers crossed ā¦sooner done the better for me (ādoneā she saysā¦haā¦ pre radio, targeted ameclacib. AI. Bone stuff!!!) and yes definitely the tree!!!
Thanks @magl ā¦ i was a poor EC patient so this brings me hope!!!
Glad you are getting towards the end of this bit!!
Definitely planning my xmas tree early too. We need a photo! Good luck with bloods
I keep saying Iāll be ādoneā in December, I think Iām in denial about radio and anti-hormones, Iāve been so focused on just getting chemo over with!
Dreading radio actually, itās at a different hospital which is a three hour round trip
For the next year while Iām on Trastuzumab (Herceptin) Iāll get echocardiograms every three months to check on my heart. First one next Monday. Did I forget to say I think the NHS is fantastic? Well Iām saying it now.
A three hour trip is bad. Every now and then I think Iāve had enough of this and Iām going to say No to the next lot of treatment but itās all extra insurance I end up agreeing to. I really hope once youāre on Paclitaxel things improve for you.
Beautiful Sharlou! Looks fantastic. Hmmm might have to go in the loft sooner than planned. I am a Christmas addict so have to restrain myself most years!! Been invited to a Christmas market this Thursdayā¦ hoping to make it and that will switch on the feels for sure!!
Have a lovely evening chilling next to the tree xx
When is your last chemo and when will the radiotherapy start.
My last chemo is 23rd of December. Iām praying that that stays on track. I was told radiotherapy will start be a month after that and for me itās at the same hospital which is great as itās literally round the corner from where I work at so Iām hoping to make it fit in around me, before or after work. I need to get back in to work by mid February. They have been very kind in letting me go back onto full sick pay in January under this proviso.
