That’s fab news Lou - well done ?. I’m feeling much better today thanks Anna. Just think all the rubbish news had really got to me. Had a chat with a lady at work yesterday who is nearly 5 years past BC - she said that she doesn’t worry about getting hit by a bus each time she goes out so why would she worry about it coming back. I’ve been for a run this morning which makes me feel better too?. Take care everyone xx
New chapter Lou!
Good all having radiotherapy today x
Great to read all the;posts - Lou well done you! new job, and near your fam, that sounds so good, all set for rads - it will zoom along now… Am crazy busy at work right now, and crashing out on the sofa most evenings, soooo tired. I agree Nutty, the news is truly awful right now. I am looking the other way when it is too horrible to hear. Have lost a stone though, the fiendish diet is actually working and I’m back in my jeans. Am definitely beach body ready (ha ha) and plan to wear a tiny yellow string bikini just like the girl in the advert. Good luck to you gals having rads. Love Anna XXX
Hi girls - can I ask have anyone periods returned yet? Mine have returned with a very long one! (Over two weeks) And very heavy. I’m pleased they have returned but I hope they don’t stay like this. In hair news - mine is definitely growing fast ?. I’ve dyed it for a second time now . Have a good weekend xx
Morning Beams, good to read the posts. How’s everyone getting on with tamoxifen? I am trying glucosamine supplements, GP said they would help with joint stiffness, which is stopping me from exercising, no fun. What about the night overheating? Isn’t it awful??? My goodness you could fry an egg on my tummy around 4 am. I’m not moaning really, I am jolly grateful to be on it, but I do feel that my body has been swapped for someone else’s! My hair is growing now, dead straight, sticks up like a cockatiel, but long enough now to clip back a bit, like a toddler. Isn’t the weather gorgeous? I wish I was going to plant out French beans rather than marking essays … love to you all, and special wishes to the gals having rads. On ward and upward! Anna.
Hi Anna I’m on letrozole and for the first few months I had joint pain I was advised to take cod liver oil capsules very no aches now. Just a bit stiff if I’ve been sitting down for a while. Not sure if it’s the same for tamoxifen but I red on here that some people found changing the brand of letrozole helped something to do with how the coating is mixed.
Hope everyone is well. Char x
Thanks for the tip Char, I went straight to Boots and bought some cod liver oil caps today, and already I feel better (!). Have a nice evening everyone. Love Anna
Hello my lovelies, long time no see.
Just checking in and see recent posts about Tamoxifen. I started taking it at night time as everything I read indicated it was easier to sleep through the side-effects. However, the night time leg aches and sweats were not exactly working for me.
I thought I’d try it in the morning, and it has been much better since. I take it about 9am each day, and I must say, 3 months in, the leg aches are very rare and the night time temperature issues much much better. I am getting hot flushes in the day time, but not all the time, and they are quite easy to manage.
I have not exercised properly for ages. How is everyone managing to get motivated? I’d love to start losing all the chemo (cake, chips and coca cola) weight!
x
WELL DONE PAM!! You got there. What a long haul. Love Anna.
Evening Ladies, hope you are all doing well.
Glad to hear you are finished Pam. Keep applying the cream you can try putting it in the fridge for more of a cooling affect.
Paul I’m on the same as you. I started on accord which was from the hospital really struggled to get it from the pharmacy’s here so now I take cipla its okay.
Seeing my oncologist Wednesday just to check how I’m doing. All is going well.
Enjoy your evening. Char xx
Hi girls - just wanted to say well done Pam - you got there. It’s nice to hear life is slowly getting back to normal again?. I’ve had to have my eyebrows threaded for the first time since September. They were looking a unruly. My hair is growing , but still not fast enough for my liking - I’m very impatient. I’m back running again and my new boobs seem to be okay with this - it was something I really missed . Take care everyone xx
Hi everyone, yay Pam, congrats on finishing and being on the right train!! I think it’s just Lou still going now, then that’s us Sunbeams all ready for summer!!
I’m feeling quite good, running, spinning and all that jazz, but boy do I get absolute KNACKERED very quickly, hot sweats still on the hour, no difference what time I take the Tamoxifen, but I just keep thinking it will be worth it!!
I’ve dyed my hair, back to blonde, it’s still very short, about 1 and a half inches, but looks ok’ish’, lots of compliments, but people are hardly going to say that looks crap Sam lol,
I’m off to Portugal on Saturday, can’t wait, sun, sea and sangria, happy days!!
Lots of love too you all, it’s been a ride and a half eh, I’m so glad we had each other, right I’m off to bed, lightweights or what eh!! Xxx Sam ???
Hey beamers!
I’m still going with rads…finish 9th June, not long!
I read a previous thread about periods, I came on last weekend, had my last one during 3rd Chemo. I’ve started tamoxifen now so think that stops everything??
Go back to work 11th June but just 2 days a week and then start my new job in September. Be nice to focus on t move etc…rather than cancer. Sometimes I get a little panicked still when go to bed, but I think I’m actually bored of worrying and have been finding it much easier to stop negative thoughts
My son is doing his GCSEs at minute, although he doesn’t seem worried (very laid back) and we celebrated his 16th birthday at the weekend
Love to all
Lou xxx
Cheers Den
How have people who Havnt exercised during treatment started? I’m feel so fat and sluggish…having cancer should have sent me on a health kick I’m sure, but instead I reached for the cake its all nearly finished, which is great, but im not loving my reflection!
Cheers PaulS! I love swimming, but Havnt been as previously had picc line, be finishing rads soon, they’ve told me not to swim yet so as soon as I can, I’ll get on it. I can walk the dog further and faster, shell love that! Just done an online shop and ordered plenty of veg, n herbal teas to replace the red wine
Day one tomorrow!! My nurse said a protein breakfast helps to stop cravings for naughty things (mainly sugar with me) so eggs, nuts and avocados will be my new snack…
Xxx
Hello Lovely Sunbeams!!! Yes Lou that sounds like a great start to getting fit again, it’s best to go slow but regular, I hated swimming, but have to do it because of my bursitis, caused by years of running, so I’ve been doing a total of 2 hours in the pool then about a 6km power walk 3 times a week, I’m waiting for cortisone injections in my hips, 3rd time, then hopefully can get back running, I also do spinning classes, I kid you not its an amazing way to burn calories!!! Just 2 a week will get you fitter and losing the funfat!!
I’m off to Portugal tomorrow with husband, feel nervous leaving daughter here but her boyfriend and other mates are staying for the week, just weird not having her with us!! I love and hate them getting older??,
I’m looking forward to the air on in the room, could do with that at home lol!!
Have a lovely bank holiday my friends and take care but mostly enjoy every bloody day!! Xxx Sam
Nice one Den ?. Hope all beamers are doing great. It’s been quiet on here , but think that’s a good sign of normal life returning for all of us ?. Take care everyone xx
