Standing outside the dark, dark woods.

Been outside most of the evening with my fisherman’s nets trying to catch all the gremlins and sleep fairies that pass through.

Caught a number of items that might be of interest to other people.

  1. A clump of hairs that may (or may not be) useful as eyebrows or eyelashes - they are rather short and curly!
  2. A very unhappy looking gremlin that was clutching onto a rather large bag of ginger biscuits.
  3. A big bucket half filled with sand with an inscription on the outside that says “abandon dark thoughts all who stick their head in me”

any takers?

I’ll have the bucket and if you could throw in a sleep fairy too that would be great, thanks.
I have enough gremlins camped out in my tent at the moment so I’ll pass on that one thanks. Having short curly eyebrows doesn’t really appeal so I will very generously leave those for someone else;)
I do appreciate you being on patrol, those fairies are extremely hard to catch it seems.

SCACO, I’m sorry to say I think I saw the squirrel-murderer running off with something in his feline gob earlier this morning, hotly pursued by Supertrouper’s hound, Buggerit. Unfortunately both beasties were going at a much faster rate of knots than a mere Rushes inhabitant was capable of, but if I find an arm in front of my washing machine where dead squirrels are usually found, I’ll know who to give it back to. Sadly it’ll probably be turned inside out and full of teethmarks, but probably better than nothing…

I took my first step into Rads Rushes this morning. Despite my stressing that I needed to be able to work, so needed either first thing or last thing appts, I found that two-thirds of my appointments were slap bang in the middle of the day. I am already stressed out at rads stealing any chance of a summer holiday, so that was another coal on the fire but my tantrum-throwing skills have clearly been honed to razor-sharp precision, and the lovely Aussie blokey came back 10 minutes later with a revised schedule showing no regular appts after 10.00am. Can someone tell me why they couldn’t have done that in the first place if it was so flippin’ easy to fix?

My kneecaps are looking worried. I spent the day in a cotton camisole top with a shirt over the top (to disguise the distance between my nipples’ usual position on my chest and their current position around my waist) and I didn’t enjoy the day at all. Ho hum, leave your pride at the door along with your dignity.

Have to say the two lovely ladies at the rads suite were totally delightful, and the rads nurse who went through the questions beforehand was equally lovely. I did ask why they were using regular rads machines rather than Intensity Modulated Radiotherapy (IMRT) and got the reply that the planning for IMRT takes a load of time longer, though THE MACHINES THEY USE ARE ALL CAPABLE OF IT! To say I was shocked was an understatement, but of course I shouldn’t have been surprised…

I’m on patrol this evening. Very wired from a stimulating day at one of my two jobs today - 3 hours travelling in total, eurgh! - and starting to see the beautiful blue sky through the clouds and fug of chemo. Ably assisted by rather too much red wine than is supposed to be good for you. Depending on what report you read…

Night all, off to do a bit more browsing on BCC, but Tigger’s on the look-out for any squirrel-shaped gremlins, monsters and ghouls.

Supertrouper, I’m very impressed at the efficacy of your fishnet tights. Can I please have my bucket back? Anyone’s welcome to use it, but it’s a bit like a baby’s comfort blanket and I find I get very stressed if I don’t know where it is at any given point in time…

Ta muchly, and see if you can catch the OhGodIt’sGonnaKillMe ghoul, that one’s traipsing around and jumps on me while I’m asleep. Dreams are NOT pleasant.

CM I’ve given the OhGodItsGonnaKillMe ghoul a taste of my flame thrower and he was last seen scuttling off into the woods muttering darkly and holding his singed behind.
I have one of your buckets and have my head firmly inserted doing my best to ignore the Mx marshes which are fast looming upon me.
Now back to playing the duvet on duvet off game, oh how I love that one!

CM - you can have the bucket back. I don’t need it at the moment. I am a little concerned that my family actually prefer me wearing my wig! What am I supposed to think now?

Plus side to wearing a wig:-

  1. It always looks good
  2. No roots to touch up.
  3. Only need to shampoo every 12 days.
  4. Always looks good.
  5. Always looks good. (repeated for a reason)

I sat outside without the wig today because I became aware of a brown stripe down the middle of my head. Suntan on my parting??? Got to get rid of that!! LOL

Anyway girls - I have had way to much to drink tonight so going to crawl into my tent and get some sleep.

My thoughts are with you all - I hope you all sleep well. xxx

Supertrouper, same here on several of your points. I had sunburnt my parting a couple of times, and once the hair got shaved it took several days before I figured out what the dark stripe was all about!

Also have had an enjoyable evening with Bacchus. SOMEONE’S got to be his friend, and I’m a very friendly person…

Right sleep fairy get your butt here now, sense of humour has departed and I need sleep!

yep, sleep fairy has definately taken his butt elsewhere, hasn’t been seen in this house for several hours!

Nope they are not here either and now the birds have started singing!

Hope you all found your sleep fairies for part of last night.

Sorry I couldnt send you mine but the sore tongue gremlin was sitting in a corner of my tent and I was holding her tight to keep him at bay.

Now that I’m up I’ll do a rece round the tents and see if I can find a couple of fairies for those still in need of them.

Anyone just off their patrols, thanks for keeping guard last night you should go rest now.

One down, 19 to go. Better get our of my pit and get moving, appt at 8.50. At least I don’t have to spend lots of time washing my hair! (Question: how on earth do I wash myself properly and NOT get any shower cream on my left tit?!)

Either wash all over with something like simple soap or avoid the rads area and then wash that with simple soap at the end of the shower to make sure traces of anything else is washed away. You can also wash with aquaeous cream.

I found a new fairy/gremlin in the garden last night - one that removes all bones or turns them to jelly. Not much sleep, but you’re so relaxed you don’t care - just your bladder’s so relaxed you go to the loo every hour!!! ANyone want one? A present from the onc when sleeping tablets didn’t help St.Eroid’s gifts - diazepam-fairy!!! Have a good day if you can girls… I burnt the red-cabbage marmalade last night, and have 7lbs of damsons to jam today/tonight… results of scans on good side today…

Well the sleep fairy was most definately NOT in my tent last night, I was up till 4 am watching re-runs on GOLD then went to bed and listened to the radio, and I am not even tired at the moment, it will probably hit me later today grrrrrrrrrrrrr.
I’m starting the first of 8 rads boosters today and feel like I’m on the home stretch now as far as rads are concerned.
I must say though I’m impressed with it the area has just a pinky tinge to it, hopefully thats as bad as it will get, but I’m not holding my breath, it will probably get worse, but I’ll keep you updated ladies.
Right off to the hospital, back in a couple of hours and then I’ve decided to take my dog Bailey on patrol around the woods, I feel like giving some gremlins a blast in the bum with my trusty flamethrower.

Well I eventually got to sleep at 5am and then woke up again at 7.30 oh joy! And that was with temazepan, what a useless sleeping pill that is, I used to have Zopiclone but the GP changed it the last time I was there. Might just have well not have bothered taking it.
Being poisoned at 12 so I’ve got that to look forward to today, not going to be a good day I don’t think!

I found the tamazepam useless (Zopiclone much better but for some reason it doesn’t seem prescribable now!) Anyway, that’s why my ONC changed me to Diazepam which did help a little - if only that i was so relaxed I didn’t care whether I was asleep or not! Actually, I think I slept more than I think… might be worth an ask. Piriton (off the shelf) actually helped me last time too (on it’s own - not with the others!)

That’s interesting Jane and in a way I’m glad it’s not just me! Sadly Piriton does nothing for me, doesn’t even make me sleepy when I have it as part of the chemo. Think I will go back and ask for Zopiclone again. Be interesting to see whether they are happy to prescribe it.

Horses for courses- the Marsden gave me Zopiclone which I found useless- it can become addictive if used long term and will eventually cause the problem it was initally prescribed to cure. Usually only given for about 4 weeks or so.

I’m still marching about, flamethrower in hand, hunting gremlins bums. Had a yawn a while ago, so it looks like the sleep fairy could be about but as I’m working (allegedly) I’ll have to fight it till later.
I now also have a massive yearning for cake.
