When my neighbours had the builders in summer before last, I was amazed at the music they had from their trannie. All golden oldies, and the builders weren’t all that old.
Stella, I could go for some Motown as well. I can see I’m going to be blubbing nostalgically into my wine!
Can we have some Bon Jovi & Meatloaf please for some rocking in the biker jackets, “It’s my life” as one suggestion to all the negative cr*p in the papers about BC?!
Sorry to hear about you having to join me & CM re: further surgery Marygrace and commiz about BF’s lack of support.
I know that you know what support you’ve got here - most of us may be too far away for face-2-face support but we’re all standing right with you - ALL THE WAY.
Hi all, thanks for the kind messages. I think it is hard for anyone else to understand quite what it’s like when it isn’ their lives that are being taken apart. Also the sleepless nights and shock of it all set in sometimes so I probably am ridiculously emotional.
Anyway, I am here to dance and wave my hands in the air. We need a heap of handbags in the middle of the clearing to dance around.
Whiskey in the jar sounds great as long as it is the song not the spirit (can’t even bear the smell as my Dad used to give me a nip of whiskey in a hot toddy for colds and it makes my stomach turn now. Much like cider does after some bad teenage party experiences and bitter lemon after a long travel sick journey on a school coach tripfrom the NE to London. Funny how music, smells, tastes all evoke memories. I wonder what the abiding memories of this bizarre few months will be for us all?! xx
I’ve had a lovely sentimental time this evening searching for some of the songs I mentioned–looks as though other people remember some of them as well, because I found a fair number of ancient recordings on youtube. Another glass or two and I’ll climb on a table and start singing them…
Mary, I won’t be a party pooper and mention the smell that will probably stay with me to the end of my days now! I’m not sure I’ll ever want to see another gingernut again, let alone eat one.
Tell you what, we need to gather round and sing Sisters, the one from the Bing Crosby film.
Sisters, sisters,
never were there such devoted sisters.
Never had to have a chaperone, no sir
I’m here to keep my eye on her.
Caring, sharing, every little thing that we are wearing.
When a certain gentleman arrived from Rome,
she wore the dress and I stayed home.
All kinds of weather, we stick together.
The same in the rain and sun.
Two different faces, but in tight places
we think and we act like one.
Those who’ve seen us,
know that not a thing can come between us.
Many men have tried to split us up, but no one can.
Lord help the mister who comes between me and my sister.
And lord help the sister who comes between me and my man.
[Sniffs, hugs everyone and pours another glass of cava]
That’s lovely Cheryl. Brings a tear to the eye (sniffs)
I think if I drink the cava I will definitely be sobbing in the toilets tonight. So I’m going to crank up Gloria Gaynor I will survive (or maybe Sisters doing it for themselves) and strut my stuff on the dancefloor xx
By the time most of this lot are just getting going, I’ll probably be curled up in the corner sound asleep. I didn’t get much sleep at all last night, but I’m surprised how awake I am at the moment. Now given real cava rather than the virtual kind, it might be different, I suppose.
I will survive! I will survive! [Waves purple boa in the air. with red dress, natch.]
Funny isn’t it. I thought I’d sleep last night post results but didn’t. Now I’m shattered after a day or strong emotions and ferrying kids between (their) social engagements but will probably be buzzing come midnight and unable to sleep again. The achey underarm doesn’t help.
On the other hand waving a purple boa above the head could be another Breast Angels physio exercise (together with merkin knitting). Do we have to dance in formation or opposite each other doing the same steps like my BFF and I used to do in our disco diva days?! xx
Well, I,m def ready to party! Point blank refused to cook and sent hubby for fish suppers— he was pleased- not nearly £30.00 for six of us lol
He’s been helping me clean and wash clothes all day. I’m not sure yet how this chemo’s going to affect me but thanks to on here at least I wont get any big shocks!
Think I’ll have a Bacardi and Coke or what about a Moscow Mule if we’re going 60’s-70’s ? Love allthe above music!
Well, as I still can’t face vino I’ve had to settle for a hot choccy with Cointreau in it!
Now on the subject of dancing round handbags or line dancing, not my strong point but will give it a go! I fail miserably at any form of exercise where I have to follow the instructor - they go left I go right if you get my drift? Add a hefty slug of Cointreau into the equation and A&E beckons!
I’m hoping the weather is going to behave it’s self tonite as it was darned inconsiderate last night in keeping me awake by flapping the tent & the bl&&dy local church bells kept ringing every hour…now why do they do this other than to remind the poor sleepless amongst us that we aren’t asleep??
Woohoo BonJovi on :)))))
XXHXX
PS its a good job I’ve got spell check - lots of squiggly red lines under my typing!!
