Standing outside the dark, dark woods.

Ali, brilliant time saver!
having a lie in this morning. Just couldn’t get up. LLol have a good Sunday, see you in the JM later. Making Christmas cake today so bringing in some samples
kay x

Morning Kay, sshhhh…I’m still in bed too. I’ve got the curtains open so I can look out at the beautiful, frosty rooftops while snuggled under the quilt. Hubby’s brought me a cuppa and we’re reading the papers/playing on iPad . Lovely. Before BC I’d have been feeling guilty about wasting a couple of hours, now I’m thinking ‘this is nice, I’m happy’. Off to buy our Christmas tree later, they generally give out sherry and mince pies too. In the past I’ve declined on calorie grounds but today I’ll join in
Then, pop tree in cold garage for a couple of weeks and bake some mince pies, or maybe some cheese and onion tartlets…or maybe both!
Tuppence I’ve threatened to buy a SheWee for holidays in France (the open hole loos at smaller rest areas on the motorway, I’m very grateful they’re there on a long journey but ooh, bit whiffy…thought if I could stand up and keep my nose a bit further away from the hole it might be better!) husband suggests funnel and jug…

nannabarb - phew! glad there was SOMEONE I didn’t offend with my Ugg(ly) comment. I was fairly ambivalent towards them until someone at work told me how much they were and that THEY WEREN’T EVEN WATERPROOF and would be RUINED in snow!! I thought “you may as well wear those zip up “fogey slippers” then if you want snuggly comfort that’s completely impractical as a shoe - and they’d be a lot cheaper!!”

I’ll stick to my leather boots: ankle, knee length or walking, depending on the occassion/outfit. All 5 pairs TOGETHER (brown and black versions of both ankle and knee length!) AND my slippers cost less than colleague’s Ugg boots! But each to their own!

I’ve baked some mince pies. They’re in the Lost Plottery Shed over in Benchland if anyone wants one. They have home-made mincemeat in, made with a rather LARGE dash of brandy! Hic! My ironing was MUCH more fun this morning with coffee and mince pies ‘to keep me going’.

Hi Woodies, just come in to say hello. Iv been waiting aprehensively over in Dec Chemo - awaiting the name’s of my Chemo hill. Will really need the Woods bar very soon. But know and feel comforted Im not alone. My lovely son cam from Gilford Uni yesterday to see me on my b - day. Had tea at a nice local restaurant.

hi GIJane
You use a Sheewee and just scoot everything to one side whilst standing up - brilliant invention for a quick pee in the woods without baring all - sorry ladies if I offend - just waiting for snow so I can write my name!!

Think I have gone a little bit la la on the wine in the JM, better go sleep it off back in the old villas! hic oooops who put that log there!

Nothing to apologise for Pargayan, it’s happened to all of us. The logs always get in the way when you are trying to catch Positive Thinking Fairy - she can be elusive!
what a lovely day Caroline
back to my turquoise tent, trying to catch a sleep fairy on the way
kay x

I hpe you caught a sleep fairy - mine deserted me, so she should have been flying around… watched Strictly Results at 4am… THEN went to sleep!

The lovely frost has gone - rain again…
Jests going this morning, so we’ll have the tent back to ourselves (and Soddit)

off to w.o.r.k…
have a good day in the JM… and have one for me!

love Jane

Pargayan did I read that correctly? You can write your name in the snow with wee using a shewee??? Wow… I gotta get one…
Found a huge bottle of Baileys in the cupboard under the stairs…out of date dec 2011. Bloomin typical!

Ali H, just shows the difference chemo makes, without chemo I would have thought, oh well see what it tastes like if I had found a big bottle of Baileys. Am more wary now. Lol
GI Jayne, sleep fairies were elusive but managed to find one about 2am.
need to set up up sleep fairy traps, thinking of baiting them wih Amaretto and thorntons chocolate, or has anyone got any better ideas?
went to London yesterday and managed a glass of Prosecco and an enormous fruit cocktail before seeing Viva Forever. Was a lovely day.
fec 3 for me tomorrow. Estée you in the JM tomorrow night. Retiring to my tent early tonight with a Baileys latte, on second thoughts Ali, pass the bottle, I’ll give it a try…
kay x

Hello ladies…how is everyone…lovely day in the Nwest…says in a whisper…NO RAIN…the sun has made an appearance…long may it last…Katy…try baiting your trap with sticky bottom lemon cake…fairies either like it or stick to it can’t remember which but other ladies have had success…should try it myself…sleep fairy escaped at the magical 4o’clock this morning…awake for 2 hours!!!..then caught a passing fairy for another 2 hours…hey ho…will try again tonight for a full 6…as Craig would say from Strictly…“what a disaaster dahling”…

Lol Kay, was the out of date Baileys ok? The alcohol would be fine, it’s whatever makes it creamy I wouldn’t risk. Ah well, the kitchen will smell lovely when I pour it down the sink. What’s Viva Forever please? Glad you enjoyed it, hope FEC 3 is kind to you (in that it does it’s job without being too nasty!)
Applestreet, do you think the sleep fairies are moonlighting as Christmas elves and not available for their main job? And as for the weird dream fairy…puhleeeese, stop picking on me! Ive spent the night trying to buy mushrooms whilst cleaning the wooden fretwork on my sisters medieval mid terrace castle (yup, made sense at the time!)

Ali, was it a “Best Before” or a “Use By” date on the Baileys? "Best before"s can safely be ignored as they are going to be phased out anyway, as long as the bottle is un-opened and has been kept somewhere sensible (ie not on the boiler?!) All it means is that they can’t guarantee the product will taste at it’s best after that date! "Use before"s should be followed, as the contents could be ‘off’ and might make you ill!

There’s probably enough alcohol and sugar in it to keep it safe! Maybe you could bait the sleep fairy traps with it if you don’t want to drink it?

Hiya Woodiesxxxx
Been awol for a week or so …hope The Posse and birds have behaved themselves.
Ta Ra Kate…will miss you just hope you’ve left a good stash of toblerones :))))) I really must have a look at a shewee, takes me ages to route myself out of bed at night to go for a pee have to psych myself up for ages which means the sleep fairy has ‘done one’ by the time I move grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!
Sooooooooo cold today…have made a yummy chicken tikka massalla for any takers in the JM?? :)))
Went for my Herceptin yesterday and the lovely sister gave me a hug and wished me a lovely Christmas…one moment I thought…'awe that’s lovely the next OMG does she know something I dont…sigh:))
Bagsy the comfy chair by the fire in the JM and a very large glass of red… See ya later
Love
KQ

Oooh JCJ what a little star you are!!! Yes, it says ‘best taste before 10 2011’, and it’s been in the cool dark under stairs cupboard for ages. Yippeee!!! Baileys anyone??

 if it tastes vile bin it. If not… enjoy! That could me my motto for life?

Hiya all…Kitty…I am like that…if the nurses were too nice to me I wondered if they knew something I didn’t…no thanks to Bailey’s…I must be one of the few people that don’t like it…will have large white whatever in the JM though…

I’ve just had to dash into the kitchen to check on my unopened bottle of Baileys that was purchased last December. Phew it says best before 09/13! Might have a go at the Bailey Lattes that I hear mentioned in here! If anyone fancies one I will leave the bottle behind the bar.
Going to try and motivate the fireflies tomorrow - we need them up in the branches of the trees to act as Christmas lights - I did toy with the idea of moving the telehandler from Benchland and put real lights up in the trees but decided against it. Sometimes I think we just need the natural elements that exist in the woods without the extreme fantastic virtual world that exists in Benchland.
I shall be snuggling down in my tent tonight - no work in NED tomorrow and need some real sleep so setting a sticky bottomed lemon cake trap outside my tent and hoping for a good result!!
Oh - and letter arrived from Stalagluft II today - appointment brought forward 6 weeks to see surgeon about getting reconstructed!! Now going on December 17th which is 3 days away from the date I had my mx in 2011.
♫♫"All I want for Christmas is a new boob back, a new boob back, a new boob back, All I want for Christmas is a new boob back and then I can wish you Merry Christmas!"♫♫

Lol, Ali, I have the weirdest dreams too. You are right they seem normal at the time!. Baileys was fine, pity you poured it away, in my dreams I am sure I could distill the alcohol out of it and mix it with fresh cream and coffee. JCJ Forgot about best before etc, good spot.
thanks Applestreet, I’ll see if I can persuade the Nigella fairy to bake a cake for me and use it to bait my trap.
ali you could be right about the fairies moonlighting, did you see any at your sisters castle?
FEC3 today, ok so far although nose running like a tap (lovely)
going to curl up in my lovely warm tent, quick pop to JM for thicken tikka and baileys latte first
phew, thank goodness for that Supertrouper! 2 bottled out of date would have been a tragedy!
i can’t cope with any sympathy without crying!

hugs to all
kay x

Kay I’ve not poured it away yet! Will try it first, lol. I had the running nose thing, and streaming eyes too… I think it was to balance out another orifice that refused point blank to let anything pass. Good job I like prunes, lol… Anyway that was ages ago now…oooh, months ago. Am doing my best to forget it all  life after chemo is lovely, and you’ll soon be there too Kay

Ooh if its ok Ali bring to the JM. I will test it as well to make sure (will wipe nose first)
looking forward to life after chemo, when I think back over last year did not expect this! But then I suppose none of us did.
sigh
off to JM later, see any partaking pumpkins then.
