Starting Chemo in December.2012

Good day lovely ladies, thanks for the warm welcome, waiting for BC nurse to confirm PICC line and chemo for tomorrow. Thanks for the link Cybele, looks a handy bit of kit.Was sorry to hear your nausea demon woke up,salt supposedly bad for demons so maybe your on the right track…not sure how they feel about diazepam or marmite sprouts…
Sue what rotten news but as everyone has said hang in there and focus on Treatable, we are all with you hugsxxx
Sarah seems there are a few of us crackers that are on the merry-go-round for the second time, for me it was 1993. Hope it all goes well on the 27th for you and looking forward to you letting us know how your doing.

I’m on day 7 of my first cycle and really glad side effects have been minimal so far, certainly less than I expected. Early constipation, intermittent fuzzy head and now a dry mouth and spots of all things!
Can’t say I’ve noticed any difference in taste of food/drink so appetite been good and will forsee imminent weight gain and looking like humpty dumpy soon.
I seem to have developed OCD and am going through liquid soap, hand sanitizer, antibacterial cleaner and disinfectant wipes like nothing silly (madness!!)
Wig and boobie appointment tomorrow at hospital. Bit paranoid about picking something up where lots of poorly people are, but if I hold my breath near anyone who coughs/sneezes and run to the oncology ward (who am I kidding…run?), then smother myself in Purell, I may just escape some lurgies #paranoia.com.
Big hug to everyone out there X

Hello everyone have to share this as tried crying screaming etc. Have been trying to contact someone since 9am this morning and after what seems like a thousand phone calls with either wrong number been given to me or just no reply and them hanging up I have just heard having bloods tomorrows PICC line and first chemo this Thursday, feel very sick already. Thank goodness husband will be with me dragging me kicking and screaming no doubt oh my god. I will of course tell them I am taking diazepam hope they allow it!! so sorry for the rant had to share with someone.
so glad shellebelle you are not feeling too bad long may it continue.
hugs and good luck to us all.

Hi everyone and thanks s.walker678 for your very sweet reply - really kind. I have just returned from my first Onc appointment - really nice chap and reassuringly upbeat. Only fly in the ointment is a tiny ‘cyst’ on my liver the CT radiographer wants me to have looked at again this time by MRI. He says he and the rad were pretty certain it was just a cyst but under the BC circs it’s best to be sure - WHY does something always have to make you come away from appointments slightly uneasy when everything else went so well? Anyway, my first chemo goes in on 31st Dec - hows that for a great New Years Eve?! Anyone else going to have a rip-roarer like me? I can see this pesky ailment is going to play havoc with my social life damn it (and yes I know this is the calm before the storm so please just indulge me for a moment) x

Alpal

will be with you on 31st unless anything changes Fiday (results day)

Wendy x x

hi alpal & Wendy, i am having my first chemo on the 31st to, so happy new year to us lol x

Hi

Lets compare what little potion are we all having. Mine is TC or TCY 6 cycles if nodes not clear or 4 if clear. I am assuming 6 as tumour quite big

Wendy

Alpal, Wendy56 and lolly123, I’m due my 2nd chemo (if bloods ok) on New Year’s Eve so will think of you and no doubt we will all be wide awake gone midnight anyway, on the steroid high, to welcome in 2013.

Cathie C, hang in there! The fear and anticipation is often worse than the dreaded deed itself. You are stronger than you know and just when you think you can’t…you will.

hi
i have 22mm grade 3 clear margins lymp nodes clear , i am having 6 x fec followed by rads and hormone tables (not sure what they are called ) picc line in on the 27th . so get xmas out of the way first
lolly

Re steroids-I slept like a log when on steroids despite taking last one late-'bout 6p.m. Beginning to think they gave me a placebo!

Hi Ladies, Sounds like we’re all having a rip roaring time - not. Am 4 days into TC chapter one, not had a problem with sickness other that first thing in the morning. Mouth is really dry feel like been chewing on cotton wool so is making my throat soar - read somewhere sucking ice cubes made with gin helps - think that sounds like a plan. Only other problem is constipation starting senakot before the anti sickness pills a good idea.
Sorry to hear some of you starting on new years eve think thats just unfair.
Debs

Marie, I took my steroids early on a morning with anti sickness drugs, so actually slept quite well other than the first night, which I think was just me being scared of what might happen rather than anything else, but I was warned I might be hyper whilst taking them and a few have reported baking cup cakes at 3am…bless
Wendy46, I’m Grade 3, 30mm IDC with DCIS surrounding to at least 60mm, Initial WLE failed to get clear margins, SNB positive. Had MX and ANC, 3/14 nodes involved in total. Having 3 x AC and 3 x Docetaxel, rads then 5 year hormone, probably tamoxifen.

I’m having 6 x FEC with a little Herceptin chucked in somewhere along the line and buckets loads of anti sickness drugs or so i’ve just been told but he might as well have been talking mandarin (thank goodness my husband is an Oxbridge Graduate and took in every word)

‘Here’s one I prepared earlier…’

Today’s post on chemonights.blogspot.co.uk

Debutante1965 I had constipation at first and agree about taking Senakot early - will start day 1 next time instead of leaving it until day 4 again! My anti sickness drugs worked well and like you didnt suffer. I also have the dry mouth, like Ive been licking a towel, and support your thoughts on iced gin wholeheartedly - cheers!
Cybele Unfortunately the link didn’t work for me to read your blog so I will try later when on laptop as it could just be my mobile.
Alpal sometimes ignorance is bliss so let your husband take it all in and you concentrate on treating yourself to something special for after your first chemo as a reward because you’re worth it.
Have a good day everyone. I am going to see about my wig and prosthetic this afternoon - never thought they would be on my Christmas list before!

Morning Ladies,

Still feeling a bit sh*t today but so far not as bad as yesterday. But don’t want to wake the nausea demon so, sshhhhh.

Cathie - I will be in the chemo suite with you on Thursday having part b of the gemocidalcarbuncle. Just gemocide this time, no more carbuncle until after Christmas.

Hi to all you you new girls having new year chemo. Sarah - cold cap does work - make sure it fits tightly or you will get baldy bits - read back through this thread for various tips.

Alpal - all appiontments seem to have a sting in the tail. Cancer docs don’t seem to be very good at being little rays of sunshine. Hmmm.

Debs - are the ice cubes pure gin? is there room for diazepam?

I need to complain about my eyelashes - they grew back lovely after the FEC-T but now they are falling out after one blast of GemCarbo. Not fair. Having no eyelashes is insult to injury.

I HATE CHEMO.

Hi Ladies and new ladies
i am sorry to some of you are really struggling with the sickness and things at the moment.
I am off to do my first Chemo tomorrow is there any thing i should do today to help with tomorrow? I will be doing the cold cap!!! if i can bear it.
Also have any of you been told to drink water that has only been boiled then cooled?
Try and have a good day everyone

Sharon Xx

Sharon hope tomorrow goes ok for you at leas you will one down and counting my our wa to the last but probably won’t be as bad as you think. My thoughts are if it’s not having some effect on your body then it’s not going to be zapping those cells.
Off for my snb shortly one more hurdle overcome

Wendy x x

Day 20 today. Feel really good. Really annoyed that my happiness will be short lived due to chemo 2. On the plus side, got my pet wig today. If I can work out how to share a pic I will.
Good luck to all those getting chemo over next few weeks and hope we all get through Christmas with some laughter!
