I absolutley love the colour. Xx
Now that has cheered me up. Might even get dressed now, x
16 year old said “I’ve got to be honest Mum, it looks like you’re wearing a wig”.
I’ll post a picture of me and Cher when she’s housebroken.

Hi Shaz
not going to do the cold cap as I sometimes get migraines and didn’t really want to risk that as well as everything else! So guess im going to have to tock the bald look! I’m having fec-t ( three fec and three t ) but reversed as I’m also on the ARTemis trial so have avastin for the first 4 cycles. Want to hit the bugger with everything possible! Will defo have to be chemo buddies!

Hi All,
Haven’t been on for a while so have spent a while reading all your posts. Had my first chemo on Fri 7th so am now day 12. I really didn’t feel well for the first week due to SEs. Completely wiped out, really sensitive teeth, sore mouth, acne (as bad as when I was a teenager - was even given same cream as my teenage daughter! and it has worked a treat), thrush, heartburn. Everyday seemed to bring something new. It has all settled down a lot now and the only thing is the taste changes. Has anyone else struggled with them? Everything tastes wierd! Most savoury food tastes bitter, I can’t drink tea or coffee and grilled or fried foods completely turn my stomach. My sense of smell seems to have gone into overdrive. Apart from the taste thing I’m feeling quite well. Although I know the effects are cummulative, I am feeling positive and beginning to think I can get through this. I think waiting for it to start was the worst bit so far.
Hi Supachick - I too am on the ARTemis trial and am having 3x docetaxel (Taxotere) + Avastin followed by 1 X FEC + Avastin then 2x FEC. I occasionally get migraines, just the visual aura type and really wanted to keep my hair so had the cold cap anyway, but I completely understand why you wouldn’t want to aggravate your migraines.
Good luck to everyone due for chemo before Christmas. Hope your SEs will be minimal.

Dear all.
Im just popping in from the April bunnies thread as despite finishing with surgery, 6xchemo and 25 rads, today I was back in the chemo unit with my friend who is newly diagnosed and starting on 21st December. I just wanted to tell you all that it will be over before you know it and you will have made some fab friends by the end of it. You will hold each others hands, laugh and cry together. The thought of chemo is often worse than the reality and one cycle is often different to another. Just because you werenauseous the first time does not mean you will be the next time. Keep strong ladies and remeber that laughter is the medicine of the soul.
P.s. you cannot overdose on domperidone in fact it’s good to front load with it and keep levels up. Granisetron is good for strong nausea but most importantly note down how you feel and for how long this will allow them to adjust your meds accordingly for next time.
Love vanns x
Hi, 1st time on here, starting chemo on fri and I’m frightened to say the least…Glen x
Hi Glen, sorry you need to be here. It’s sh*t, but we will do it together. What sort of poison you having? x
Oh - if that is your first post there will prob be a delay whilst the moderators check whether you are a nutter. I will look back later for you, x
OMG the Movicol finally worked.
That’s it - I have shared my bowel movements on line. The transformation of my life is complete. I am cancer. Why can’t I say something intelligent about yoghurt?
x
Picked a wig and got a boobie to try out for Christmas yesterday. Was acutely aware of people coughing and sneezing at the hospital so very glad to be straight in for both appointments. Wig looks very natural and not too dissimilar to my own hairstyle so very happy. Just hope scalp will tolerate wearing it.
Correction to earlier post about chemo drugs I am having - just spotted mistake. It is 3 x EC (not AC) and 3 x Docetaxel.
Gonna spend time working on my family tree while my bloods take a dip. Thankfully I am no social bunny so staying in won’t drive me scatty.
Cressida I know you can’t hear it, but know there was a big round of applause when your post was read. There is nothing more satisfying than a vacated bowel when you have suffered it’s stubborn refusal to stick to the norm x x
Good morning all!
I’m never sure if I actually manage to press the right button, as I never see my posts or get ay replies
nevermind - just to say I find all your posts and comments not only a tremendous strength, but more recently I am actually bedinning to laugh (out loud) as we begin to find some humour amongst the dark stuff. (although I’ve not got my head around all the jargon!)
DX in October - Grade 3 blah blah blah… Mastectomy, FEC T. Second one on the 27th. SE like a 5 day hangover from hell!!! Dont think I drank enough water though…
I have a young family and it’s tough but I feel that I can get through this and thanks for the reality check! if there’s one good thing to come out of it…
