Starting chemo in February 2012

Hi Loz,

Really hope you soon feel much better. I haven’t had a sore mouth yet but for the first few days after the chemo I did have the foul taste in my mouth and really struggled to drink enough. I drank lots of pineapple juice and orange squash. I found it helped to have lots of small, manageable drinks with lots of ice in, plus I drank through a straw. I also cleaned my teeth lots to try and get rid of the taste but I guess that’s difficult with a sore mouth.

Not sure if I’ve said anything helpful but hope things improve for you soon.

Take care!
Love Rach xx

Hi everyone,

Sorry not been on for ages…been without internet for the last week or so…sounds like a few of you have been having a rough time…so sorry to hear that and I hope the SE’s pass quickly for you  xxx

I’ve been ok really - bit more tired in my 3rd week strangelely as I thought that was meant to be my good week?! Anyway had my second juicing yesterday…eventually…no PICC pain and can move my arm ok but the chemo nurse suspected a possible DVT as I’ve developed a thrombosis on the end and fleubitis! My body is rejecting it big time so I had to have an arm ultrasound. Thankfully no evidence of DVT but was in hosp all day! I’ve also got to have a CT scan as I’ve got some reactive lymph nodes that have been biopsied twice with no evidence of malignancy but onc still worried as to why glands are up…? Possibly just a reaction to the onslaught over the last few months.

If you’re like me I hadn’t been near a hospital for anything major before this happened so it’s been through a lot lately…

Feeling travel sick/hungover after 2nd juicing, not actually sick this time but can’t eat much and bad hot/cold sweats = NO SLEEP LOL!! Steriod have a lot to answer for! Just done neulasta jab today, no aches yet but I bet they come on later = NO SLEEP LOL!! grrr…

Hugs to all xxx

Hi all

Hollygypsy- love what your daughter said about your hair coming back.

Ann- I found the second juicing effected me differently to the first one too.

Knoxybabes- sorry to hear your PICC line is causing you so much pain.

Velma- I have days when I could eat for England!

Fran- sorry to hear about your job. I hope things improve with your OH.

Lon- my nails are growing quickly too. I thought chemo would make them stop growing?!

Gill- I had to laugh at your description of your lady garden lol

Loz- I feel for you. It’s horrible when you feel so bad. Fingers crossed you’ll soon feel like your normal self.

Purple42- great news about Bob!

Pianoorchid- hope you get some sleep tonight.

I’m feeling fine but it’s my 3rd juicing next week which I’m not looking forward to, as I don’t know how it’ll effect me. Still I’ll be halfway through and finished with the FEC part of the treatment
Hope you all have a good weekend
Hugs and prayers Chris xx

Morning all,

Sounds like we are all going through It at the moment, hopefully things will improve soon. I have been totally floored with my second lot, must admit feel worse this time round, day 4 for me now, and still no sign of my body removing itself from my bed! Felt sick from the word go and still feel nauseaus, as this is my big phobia I am finding it very hard to handle. Headaches and servere lack of sleep…

It is hard to lift yourself with S.E.'s isn’t it, but have a whole weekend with my wonderful Husdand and Daughter and thats fab!!.

Sorry I am totally hopeless at individual names but send you all hugs.

I am sure I will soon be fridge raiding again, I also have a chocolate addicition, it’s cadburys mini eggs for me, can’t get enough of them, did my online shop and ordered 33 packs by mistake!! very tempted not to change back down to 3!!!.

Love Sarah xx

Good morning ladies,

Loz, hope you feel better soon.

Fran, how are things now? Hope you manage to have a lovely weekend with the family.

Knoxybabes, sorry to hear you ended up in hospital but glad everything is okay now and hope you had a fab night in with the girlies

Chris, really hope your third juicing goes okay. I am so nervous now after this time around.

Sarah, hope you feel well enough to enjoy the weekend! I vote for leaving the number of mini eggs to 33 lol.

I am feeling much better than I was. The first 3 days were horrible, so different to the last one. Even now I am not as good as last time but the nausea is settling. That was with new additional meds too.

I had to go for the shave yesterday. I got up in the morning and it looked like someone had been having fun with a pair of scissors and clippers during the night! Had a wee wobble beforehand but it actually looks okay. So glad my mum and dad were with me.

I managed to go to an auction last night too. It was for raising funds for CLAN, our cancer support service up here in Aberdeen. Was good to see everyone. My daughter was so happy to win the bid for a signed Olly Murrs CD. Don’t know if anyone watches Storage Wars but she was so wanting to shout yuuuuuuuuuup  lol. Had to be done with waving her number in the air and nodding.

Housework beckons this morning and I think a nice long walk with dog this avo.

Hope you all have a lovely day.

Morning all

3rd day of 2nd juice and can feel steroid SEs kicking in but hopefully not as bad as last time - must drink more water! Hardly any sleep - well 3 hours max on the trot when I’m used to 7 - not good so going to take a Zopiclone (sp?) tonight … and a Senna! Talk about rattling around!

Hair really shedding now so am contemplating getting the clippers out today or tomorrow - OH will do it - he’s mentioned trying a mohawk first - ha ha! At least I have wig to wear out and Buffs to wear inside.

Housework for me today and dog walk this afternoon and something nice for dinner!

Hope all are not suffering too much and if you are - do nothing but eat!

Hugs to all.

Hi Ladies

I was the very last to have chemo in Feb (29th) and an wondering when the old hair will start coming out? No sign so far ( although nose hair has gone). I’ve got loads of it. I remember the unpleasantness of having a shower & ending up wearing loads of hair when it started to come out last time around but can’t remember when it happened in the cycle so I’d be glad for any guidance!

Some good news!! Just been for an appointment with my breast surgeon (I am having surgery after my chemo). She thought I looked great and my tumour has shrunk after only one session of chemo. Always good to know that its working.

Thinking of everyone who is suffering and hope you feel better soon xx

Hi Lindyloo,

I also had rash on my back, back of neck and checks, was told by my nurse that it is normal, I used Doublebase Gel it really helped with the itching and did go down after a couple of days, also Sudocrem was recommended.

Hi Lovlies,

Thought I had really convinced myself that it didn’t matter and that I wouldn.t be effected emotionally but oh no… my hair started to come out at work yesterday in handfuls, I cried and cried. Feel a little better today, went on Annabandana and placed an order and hubby is going to use the clippers and shave it off tonight, think I’ll have the same as you Jan and ask for a mohican!

Given up on the eating as mouth now full of ulcers, oh well melted chocolate it is then

So sorry some of you are feeling rough after 2nd chemo, hope you feel better soon.

Wolsty- fab news from your surgeon hope you have done a little celebration dance

Have a great weekend all you lovelies
xxx

Wolsty - great news!!!

Gill - I got a rash all over my torso which after using Diprobase cleared up but then got juiced on Thursday so expecting it back!

Fab day here in Kent and just had lovely dog walk in the sun. Feeling a bit rough with steroid SEs but doesn’t seem to be as bad as last time - please!!! Lack of sleep, constipation and indigestion all bad so will take sleeping tab tonight and Senna!

Hope everyone are having nice weekends.

Gill, I have set sky box to record Five, it is repeated this week.

Twinky, I think I was about day 16 or 17 when I noticed hair coming out. Only went for the shave yesterday though. I had really thick hair.

Wolsty, fantastic news

Debster, I got difflam from chemo ward for my ulcers. Maybe worth a try?

Have had a lovely day. Out for a long walk with dog, in past mum and dads for a coffee break  then home and now feet up watching tv. Feeling not too bad, having quite a few hot flushes?

Morning all,
Well had a good day yesterday my children we taken out for a few hours , I got a rest and had same time with OH . All change for me on monday with him starting a new job, fingers crossed, this one works and he can stop moping and start working! I my not be the perfect cook or cleaner but so what I’m still here and I want to look after the kids.
So this round think I’m on day 6 2nd round! I feel this time I’ve got off lightly , just very tired and a sore throat that’s all so far…so tom I’m back on school runs and other stuff.
Today if its a nice day might take kids out!
How’s everyone else.
Rosie sorry about your hair mine is very thin but still with me!
Love to all
Xxx

Hi
Mine is thin but patchy - time to go

Big hug for you Rosie. Make it into an ocassion & have a glass of bubbly. You’ll be a lot more comfortable with it off and only little bits of hair being lost. I’ve not lost any of mine yet as I’m too early in my cycle but I know it’s coming.

Can I ask if anyone else is having to suffer a period during treatment?
