Morning well I feel ill again.
Twinky how’s your tummy and yours jane.
Mine started yesterday so much for my reduced chemo?
Took an immodium cos just can’t face hospital again. No temp yet. I’m trying to drink and eat but I’ve no appetite Its always the monday after for me. Just want to feel well am so sick of hearing my moany voice. Wish the onc hadn’t told me if I had done 4 I had given it a good go. Cos I’ve done 4 now, maybe I can say no more.
Anyway my wonderful sister has taken the kids to school so am off back to bed to try and get some sleep.

Hello everyone - haven’t been on for awhile as just trying to get myself thru everything - horrible SEs etc. But … I had my 4th and final AC dose last Friday - yippee!! Just got to get thru the next few weeks of awfulness and should be on the road to recovery. Now to think about having a reconstruction!
Sorry to hear some of you have been having a rough time. Over the weekend I had bad stomach and can’t even blame alcohol as nothing has passed my lips - boo! Thought at one stage I might have to ring the hospital but I came right. I am hoping that dose 4 will be easier on me even though it takes longer to recover - dose 3 was defo the worst!
I am planning to take at least 6 weeks off before going back to work - the chemo nurse said you will need at least a month after the last cycle but I think I’ll take another few weeks just to build myself up and actually start feeling normal again! What do you all think?
Hope everyone has a good week and good luck to those being juiced this week!

Well that was a very unpleasant night but the immodium worked & I’ve had a couple of hours sleep. Need to get myself off to the hospital very shortly as I see my Onc today. Just gingerly trying some tea & toast.
Hugs Fran sorry you are suffering too. Hope you’re feeling better soon.
Jan - yes good idea to take a break before going back to work. Your body needs all the help it can get to recover!
Better go jump in the shower.
Twinky x
Good morning,
Fran sorry to hear you are having tough time too. I had overnight stay in hospital last week, not nice.
Good to hear that is your final one done Jan! Take it easy and hope all side effects are tiny ones.
Docs appt for me this morning. Then a restful day, that seems my norm just now. Oh to get back to normal. Yesterday was tough, I was supposed to be doing the London marathon. Had to watch it on the telly instead. Boo. Am in for next year though so that is my aim. Bring it on.
Some names seem to be missing from the thread. I really hope everyone is okay.
It can’t decide whether to rain or not here. Off and on since I got up. Best get a groove on and get in the shower.
Ann xx
To everyone
Thanks you for your kind thoughts and messages.
I am finally home after 6 days in hospital , What a fanastic job those nurses do , can not fault them
Back home in my own bed and many hours sleep - no snoring or chatting or machines buzzing or being woken up at 2 and 5 for your temp.
my blood count very low and immune system could not with infection as well .
Delayed my chemo for one week allow my body to get better
So at home in bed on my lap top
Love Rosie xx
Hope you all doing well with treatment and no bad side effects
Hi all,
Just got back from acupuncture and meditation and feeling good, even got ironing done!
I had a bad couple of days last week as cold from chemo 2 came back with a cough added. Felt very unwell and now on 7 days antibiotics as a precaution. Fine now anyway and enjoying the good days… Got a busy week on with seeing friends.
Twinky you made me laugh about the gas attack. I had that with the second one, I was an environmental hazard with the methane…
Rosie - glad you are getting better and happy to be home.
Velma, Debster, and everyone else re: diet. I am like you had a good diet anyway as used to live in Spain and we eat mediterranean style. However, due to the “you never know” element of this disease, have cut down to minimal the dairy (just for me not the kids) and upped the vegetarian and fish. Also cut down on the red meat. I also now buy as much as poss organic and joined a veg box scheme. We are paraben free cosmetic wise and use eco products in the house. Have experimented with tofu but can’t find a recipe to get it to taste nice - anyone any ideas? Also had some sushi the other day (cooked fish not raw) and it was lovely - good to get some seaweed. Haven’t really drunk any alcohol as felt so nauseous anyway.
Ann - like you will be on the Herceptin, possibly starting week after next. SEs are flu-like symptoms, nausea and diarrhoea but when I spoke to the nurse today she said they are usually mild. I am a bit concerned about the possible heart problems as my mother died of a heart attack, so will be asking my Onc for a bit more information about that, although I think it is rare.
Has anyone else had a look at the Chemocare website, it is quite interesting to look up your drug treatment and check side effects.
Jan - congratulations on finishing! Are you having radiotherapy? - let us know how you get on.
Good on Robin Gibb - seems to be getting better! (Just watching midday news!)
Hope everyone is ok and anyone having treatment this week have minimal SEs.
X
Sorry Twinky missed your last post when I wrote mine. Hope you feel better soon and your stomach is alright x
Hi lovelies,
So sorry that some of you are feeling rough, sending you big hugs x I forget that we’re all on diff drugs and experiencing completely differing SE’s.
Thanks for all your info re food etc I’ve read most people with cancer have a high acidity rate that it is better long term to have an alkeline diet so mainly eat fruit and veg.
I’ve had a fab day today, went back to work part day after having the last two weeks off with my last FEC, the distraction was great and forgot the C word for most of the day.
Have a great eve all with a fab nights sleep.

Hi Ladies,
Not been good after my first Tax, had severe bone aches all over since the Friday night and because it was the weekend that it got worse i could not ring anyone for pain killers, worse pain than child birth!. developed a temp of 39.2 this morning so am now in hospital as have picked up an infection from somewhere, strange as I haven’t left the house since Wednesday. My count was down to 0.2. On antibiotic drips etc, Onc said I will probably be In for a couple of days. I haven’t posted before as really don’t want to scare any of you that are soon to go on Tax, I have just been unlucky and a lot of people no not experience that level of pain.
Sorry to hear some of you have also been struggling, this all seems to be going on for ever doesn’t it! Good news is my mum is bringing me in a cheese a sandwich tomorrow, really fancy one for some reason, also my husband brought me in my supply of mini eggs - still addicted.
Love to all

Hi Stitchyboy so sorry to hear you’ve been so rough. Will try not to let it worry me. My first Tax is next week. Picked up my steroids today to start the day before. Am hoping I find it better than the FEC which left me so nauseous. Hope that you’re feeling better soon
Big hugs
Twinky x
Hi Stitchyboy
So sorry you are feeling bad and now in hospital. I am amazed how many of us end up there at some stage during chemo - I have been OK so far so touch wood that will continue. Am already worried about TAX so don’t worry about scaring me. I have decided to anticipate the worst and then anything better will be a bonus.
Twinky - how did you sleep last night. I decided to take a sleeping pill as was really tired and couldn’t face another sleepless night. Also don’t want to risk getting an infection in my good week through lack of sleep. Feel much better today.
Debster - glad you enjoyed work - isn’t it fantastic when you can do something or have a conversation with someone that doesn’t revolve around cancer - sadly it doesn’t seem to happen very often. I went for lunch with a friend yesterday and although we did talk about me we chatted about loads of other stuff which was just normal!
Rosie - glad you are finally home and that you are able to give your body a chance to recover. Take it easy x
Ann - if you do the marathon next year we could all come and cheer you on
Janex
Morning Ladies!
Oncologist appt at 1pm then bloods after that - I’m really hoping my chemo is going to go ahead tomorrow as planned as I have been feeling quite rough since No. 3, I usually have one good week before my next session but No. 3 has been awful and still not recovered but don’t want to delay it as just want to get it over and done with!!
Sarah - really sorry to hear that you are in hospital, hope you are feeling loads better soon, sending big hugs. X
Rosie, glad to hear you are now at home and enjoying your own bed!!
Some of your are / have moved onto Tax now, I’m having all FEC so I suppose at least I know what to expect, really hope you are all coping ok and that side effects are minimal.
Went to work yesterday for a few hours and going again this morning, it would have been my mums 66th birthday today (she passed away suddenly in Nov) so trying to keep myself occupied otherwise I will end up lying in bed all day crying!
Take care everyone. Jo. X
Hi Stitchyboy.
I too have had my first tax and had bone and muscle pain but the onc gave me a supply of codeine before I started it - they should have given you some aswell!!! hope you feel better soon.
I would advise everyone about to start tax to start moisturiser there hands and feet now. I was advised udderly smooth - available on amazon. Also have supply of decent painkillers. Aching normally starts after you stop the steroids. Tax trots too but 90% of tax is excreted through faeces so let it out I say. Have found the tiredness much more severe than the FEC and my fingertips are sore - feel like I have trapped them all in a door. BUT for me tax is much preferable to the nausea of the fec - the little red bitch!!!
Afternoon all,
Day 12 after 1st dose of TAX
Feeling much better, managed some housework which has been severely neglected.
For me TAX has been much worse than FEC. Muscle aches have been worse at night, I was only told to take over the counter pain killers, but I’ll ask for something stronger at my next appointment. I too have odd fingertips, couldn’t peel an orange!! Dry mouth much worse than on FEC, rinsing with Diflam helped and it’s a lot better, but I know when it’s back to normal when tea tastes like tea.
Reading your comments re FEC I seem to have got off likely, but the TAX seems to be getting its revenge.

Afternoon Everyone
Woltsy - Sorry you are in hospital , it seems we are all in there between three and four sessions. But best place to be .Hope you are feeling better soon and home and in our bed
My second day at home just so tired and no energy , hoping in a couple of days to be back to my normal self ,
Everything a major task today even getting out of bed.Still achinbg as well and full of bruises due to all injections and blood being taken
Enjoy rest of day, Raining in nottingham now
Love Rosie xx
Hi Gang
Got loads of sleep last night so feeling well but just lazy! Popping out for a hot choc ( don’t drink coffee) later this afternoon but need to make Clare’s leek & potato soup first so I have something healthy for tonight.
Hugs to Jo missing her Mum & those of you in & out of hospital! For all my whining about bring on my own so much I have to say that one of the plus points is a lack of germs from others & physically I’ve been pretty good so far with no emergencies!
Saw my Onc yesterday. He’s very pleased with me so far as I’m not causing him any problems. I start Tax next week. Have moved my treatment day from Weds to Fri ( two extra days of feeling good ) as I need hubby to drive me as some of the tablets they give me will make me sleepy. He said my nausea will be less but I’ll ache! I spoke to him about my concern of losing feeling in my fingertips as I’m a musician. He said vitamin b6 can help but he could also drop my treatment dose & spread it over 4 instead of 3 to help the body cope better. He said we’ll just have to see how I go. Doesn’t affect everyone.
Better go do my healthy cooking as I just polished off a cooked breakfast as lunch!
Twinky x
Hi Rosie
Just to make things clear - I’m not in hospital thankfully - was commenting on Stitchyboy being there! So far I have been lucky with SEs and have managed to avoid and stays in hospital.
Hope that TAX doesn’t come and bite me!!!
Jane
