Starting Chemo in February 2014?

Can, you’ve been through the mill recently. I’m so glad the scan was clear. You must have been so worried and its a shame it impacted on your holiday. I’ve been having a lot of back pain recently and my mind does go to the worst case scenario. I haven’t followed it up with the doctor because I kind of don’t want to know if its anything bad because I’m just starting to feel like myself again. It’s probably nothing anyway ?
I hope you get the next thyroid biopsy and results soon. What a lot of hassle you have been through with this. You and your poor family shouldn’t have had to go through all of that. Well done on the eyelashes though ?

Hayley sorry you’re still having troubles with your pregnancy. I hope you’re ok.

Love to you all

Hazel x

Hi hazel
So sorry you are worrying about your back. Like you say, it’s probably nothing but I understand your worry. I’m really stiff and achey from after effects of chemo so if you are too it could be linked to that. Worrying is so wearing and takes the shine off everything so try not to and I ll try to do the same ?
Let us know how you are Hayley. Worried after we spoke on Saturday
Xxx

Good to hear from you Caz, so glad your scan was ok, must have been such a relief after all the worrying. I suffer with sinusitis sometimes, can be a right pain. I find Tescos cold relief tablets are amazing (and are under a pound!)good luck with the biopsy results, I am keeping my fingers and toes crossed.
I am getting used to the Tamoxifen, but did find that when I started my second box ( which was made by a different manufacturer ) a lot of aches and pains resumed. I have since mamaged to source my original brand made by RelonChem and would like to continue with these. I know the Pharmasist will argue the ingredients are the same therefore there should be no difference between manufacturers but I disagree. Anyway back in work-phased return, had a wonderful holiday with little pumpk. Its his first day of school today!
Thinking about you all xxx Hayley big hug xx

Bigpumpkin, it’s RelonChem I’ve been taking too. I’m one month in and not had many problems at all. Some stiffness in my joints and only the occasional flush so I will be sticking with this brand if I can. I’m trying drinking tonic water for the joints (I’ve read the quinine helps) but I’ve only had it the last couple of days so too early to tell if its any good.

Alice, you’re putting me to shame with your exercise! I try to get out for a walk every day but that’s it. I really need to get my act together because it’s proven to reduce the risk of recurrence substantially. I think I just need to get through treatment first (or is that just another excuse…). Well done on the wig. I’m getting lots of new hair but still not confident to go out without mine yet.

Kess I’m glad you’re recovering well. Take it easy because I’m sure work will still be waiting when you’re ready to return ?

Love to you all,

Hxx

Haze, Im trying out the tonic water too. But what with trying to remember the cod liver oil, glucosamine and most important the Tamoxifen, Im finding it tricky to fit it all in lol. I found it really difficult to find a chemist that had the RelonChem in stock. I must have rang about 20 before striking lucky. There seems to be some sort of problem here at the moment but hopefully you wont have a problem getting them xx I was given Wockhart from my last prescription but the joint pain was definitely worse. I feel a lot better after just one night of the other make. Actually its time to take another one- mustn’t forget, so I will say goodnight girls, take care xxx

Kess, I take my Tamoxifen at 6pm. I was taking it before bed but found it really hard too fall asleep so changed it to 6. I’m still having broken sleep but not as bad as before.

Jaffacakes, that’s sad about your daughter having image issues. I didn’t worry too much either when I was at school but kids nowadays are under so much pressure to fit in. It’s such a shame.

Sue I’m so glad your daughter is going on her holiday. It will no doubt be hard at times while she is away but it will be good for her to get a break. I hope you are doing ok. It’s been a very tough time for you and I’m sending you a HUGE hug.

Lots of love to you all and Hayley, please let us know how you’re doing.

Hello lovely ladies how are you all ?
Sorry I havnt posted for a while, I have been thinking about you all and hope everyone is doing well.

Good on you Jaffacakes for starting classes, I still havnt got that exercise regime underway yet, although I do walk the long route home from work each day to make sure I have some exercise !!

Sue I found that going back to work was the best thing I could have done. The thought of a heavy workload, busy environment and new protocols was scary, but to be honest nothing had changed and after the first half hour it was like I’d never been away lol . Its good to get back to a sense of normality.

Kess good luck with the rads, hope everything is going good.

Are you any further towards having your biopsy Caz ? Hope you at least have a date to work towards !

How is that little girl Hayley ? I hope that everything is going well for you all.

Hope you are enjoying your new car Hazel, are you getting ready to vote tomorrow ?

Hope you had a lovely Holiday Jilly ? We go on Oct 3rd and Im counting down the days.

I had my appointment with my Oncologist this afternoon and was a little startled to learn that if I was a NHS patient she would be discharging me (is it a Wales thing again ? Or the norm ? Im not sure , I seem to remember thinking that everyone was having a good follow up service. Anyway I will see her again in 6 months when she will check my oestrogen levels, but will see the surgeon in January for a mammogram. For the timebeing at least I am going to try to put this behind me and look forward to our Holiday.

Love to everyone xxxx

So sorry, baby girl fiannah is not well xxx

Sorry to hear your baby girl is poorly Hayley. Hope she gets bigger and stronger soon. Thinking of you.

Ps love to all of the February girls too x

Hi Alice,

Still got 12 sessions and 4 boosts to go. 13 done though and they’ve gone fast so that’s good. Skin is holding up fine so far. I’m still wearing my wig though I’ve got good coverage of my own hair. I’m going to get it trimmed this week because it’s a bit fluffy round my ears! I’ll think about ditching my wig after that. My wig is fantastic and has really helped me get through the baldness. Even the chemo nurses initially didn’t realise it was a wig!!! They just thought my hair was taking longer to fall out! You’re right that it’s been a mild autumn so maybe that will encourage me to go out without it.

Good to hear from you Bigpumpkin and pleased you’re getting on well back at work. I hope to start back mid November. Having a couple of more weeks off after rads and then going on holiday for a week. I’ll need to keep out of the sun but just getting away will be great. I’ll start my phased return after that.
Re the oncologist, I’ll see mine again at the start of December and then I will be ‘discharged’ back into the care of the surgeon and the breast clinic. From there I will have a check up in February and then annually thereafter. I’d have liked six monthly for the first few check ups just for reassurance and may well ask for that.

Hope the rest of the Feb ladies are getting on well.

Lots of love, Hazel xxx

Ps LOVE my new car ? ?

It definitely is a slog Alice. 50 mile round trip every day just for a 10 minute appointment ? hopefully it works so it will be worth it.

That’s great you’re going away for a few days soon and have booked next years holiday. We had to cancel our flights to stay with friends in Australia this year too and I’m considering rebooking for Feb next year. I’m down to half pay now so not sure I can afford it though! Maybe I’ll just need to get my husband out working harder ?

Hello everyone,
Thinking of you Hayley, sending you all my very best wishes for your little one xx

Yikes Sue, Im dyeing my hair Sunday !! Lol, I will let you know how it turns out. I’ve never bought a box dye before, so its all new territory for me. At leastI have wig to fall back on lol !!

Im still enjoying work. Im sleeping a little better now that I’ve changed my time of taking Tamoxifen to mornings.

Hope you are all well
cath xx

My baby girl is being kept alive by machines ? xxx

Hayley sending you love and prayers that your baby girl pulls through.

Hayley I am so sorry that your little one is so poorly. I am thinking of you and your family xxx

Hi Alice, yes, I did colour my hair !! I used a Garnier Nutrisse colour . Its ok but I would have liked to go lighter but dont want to risk using ammonia just yet. All in all, my hair is no worse for wear and I will definitely continue to colour it xx ps sorry to hear you have a cold !! Are you going to have the flu jab ? The Doctors are chasing me down in work ( lol at least that’s how it seems !!) but I am definitely not getting the jab until after my Holidays !!

Hope all you lovely ladies are all well. Sorry to hear you have been poorly too Kess. Hope that your rads are underway now.

My Holiday is finally nearly here. We fly on Friday. I chose Insurewith Insurance at a reasonable £30 odd pounds. I will catch up with everyone when I get back, until then girls take care and lots of love.
Cath xx

Hope you have a brilliant holiday Cath. You deserve.

Today was a big day for me. I got a haircut ? First one since my head was shaved in February. Alice I would recommend it because mine’s was really fluffy round my ears too and now it looks neat. Short, but neat. I left my wig at home for the first time. It felt really strange having the wind on my head!

4 rads and 4 boosts still to go. Not had too many problems so far thankfully. Kess hope you’re feeling better and sorry your rads have been delayed.

Love to you all

Hazel x

Baby girl off the artificial heart but still on ventilator, thank you for all your kind words, it means a lot, start rads soon cuz lil one decided come so soon
Hope everyone is ok
Love and hugs

Hello lovely ladies. Thank you for asking after me, Sue. I hope you are all ok. Hope you are getting somewhere with your kidneys, Sue. It’s about time they sorted it out for you. Fingers crossed its easy to sort and you get some relief.
Love to you and your family Hayley. I thought I hadn’t heard from you for a while but didnt want to contact you as guessed you’d be tied up with hospital and looking after the rest of your lovely brood. Hope Fiannah is getting stronger.
I haven’t been on the forum for a while as sometimes its easier to pretend none of this has happened and just crack on with life, so sorry I haven’t been in touch. I have a friend who had BC a couple of years ago and she regularly contacts me to tell me bad news about other ladies or statistics and it scares me to death so I’ve been coping in general by metaphorically putting my fingers in my ears and go la la la this hasn’t happened to me! I also keep myself ridiculously busy which probably isn’t the best coping mechanism!
I’m still waiting for a repeat thyroid biopsy and had to have a chest x ray last week as Ive had a cough for about 8 weeks and asthma terrible. It was clear so they think they have maybe caused it with the rads, which is completely fine and a relief.
Its lovely to hear about hair growing and you brave ladies going wigless. I’m quite lucky in that I appear to have fewer greys now than before! However my hair looks sort of faded, like its been on too hot a wash lol.
I love having my eyebrows and eyelashes back… Those small things mean so much.
Lots of love to you all
Caz xxxxxxxxxxxx

Hi everyone,

Congratulations on the haircut Alice! I was ridiculously excited when I got mine a couple of weeks back ? my hair has come in really thickly (same as before) but very curly (not the same as before!). I’ve also got lots of grey but I’m not fussed about that and I will dye it eventually.

Sorry you’ve still not got resolution on your thyroid Caz. What a time you’ve had with that but glad everything else is getting back to normal.

I finally finished my rads marathon last week. My skin is really burned and peeling but I have hydrogel and dressings so it’s fine. There’s no pain thankfully. I also didn’t get the dreaded rads fatigue that so many people had warned me about so that was a plus. I have managed to pick up a cold so feeling a bit rubbish with that but I’m sure it will pass soon.

I’m off on holiday on 1st November so looking forward to the break but also nervous about leaving the country! My local hospital is only 5 mins away so I’ve gotten used to knowing it’s there ‘just in case’ and I feel a bit weird about going away. I get travel insurance through my bank but they declined extended cover because of my Cancer so I’m just taking my chances. I will have the European health insurance card if anything goes wrong which I hope it doesn’t!

How are you all doing? I hope life is treating you all kindly.

Lots of love,

Hazel xx
