needahug…thanks for that,i did drink quite a bit of water during chemo but probably could do with drinking more, will definately give it a go especially leading up to it.My oncologist told me around day 8-10 i would feel at my lowest so that probably explains your symptoms.xx
Morning ladies.
I’m beginning to feel like a freak as I’m still feeling good. (sorry)! Only real se at the mo is this continuing feeling of tiredness and lack of energy, I feel as though my brain is on go slow. I had 24 hours of bone ache following the Neulasta injection but that’s about it.
The worst thing was yesterday our boiler decided to give up on us - brrrr. Thank heavens for the British Gas man who prioritised us, diagnosed a faulty circuit board and came first thing this morning to fit it. Feels so good now to be both clean and warm!
The best thing that happened yesterday was our new tv was delivered! Think we must be the last peeps to go flat screen lol. Didn’t realise though how hungry I would feel watching Heston and then The Baker Boys - think the size of the food was just too tempting:). Sitting here even now with stomach grumbling…
Well, back to topic, It’s day 8 for me today,so am very conscious I’m heading into my high risk of infection week. 2nd FEC is due on the 6th Feb and I really can’t wait as I want this over ASAP.
Group hug everyone,
Sue x
Morning Ladies!
Now 2 days after 2nd chemo. So far so good I think. We had a phonecall yesterday from some friends we haven’t seen for several months and they ended up coming round for dinner. I cooked a lasagne in between laying down for a bit. Didn’t feel sick at all! Just felt like I had a bad hangover. Phew.
I’ve been have a couple of bouts of vertigo recently. Not caused by chemo and that’s causing me more distress than the chemo. Been referred urgently to ENT to try and get that sorted.
I seemed to get very anxious this time round. Not helped because I had to go on my own as OH had to go to a funeral. And I’ve felt ever so gittery and shaky for a few days, but think I’m calmer today. Will go out later.
But we had a lovely evening with our friends last night and they didn’t go till 1 am! So slept well.
I had a huge ulcer on the tip of my tongue which has finally calmed down today. The mouthwash I was given at unit helped that.
I have a picture of me in cold cap. Anyone want to see it? Shocking!
Got my PICC line appointment for a few days before next cycle. Not looking forward to that. Don’t like the idea of a long tube going up my veins ending near my heart.
Some of you are so good at writing and so funny. You write so naturally.
Oh - cold cap seems to be working. Am definitely shedding some, but not in clumps. I think I need to avoid wearing dark clothes though as my shoulders are covered. A friend is coming to trim my hair next week and for lunch.
It might not sound like it, but I’m actually ever so happy and have a LOT to look forward to. OH goes to Portugal next week to take possession of our new boat/home. It’s great for him as whilst I get through this he will have a project to distract him. It should arrive here at the end of Feb. Sooo excited.
Sorry I haven’t done any personal messages again. But somebody asked about going to daughter’s competition on day 19 I think. I should have thought you would be absolutely fine.
Bye for now.
Dawn XXX
hi Dawn that was me asking bout my daughters gymnastic display…thanks xx
yeah fingers crossed Julianna. having a lot more coming out today. think the wash will be the big test but like i say a hell of a lot still seems firmly attached, i can tug and it doesn’t come away…although i should probably stop that hehe
xx
Clair - I think we are the same day. Did you have juice on 13th same as me? Marina was on same day and she used cold cap so be interesting to see how the hair shedding goes. My scalp is tender and hair only coming out when running my fingers through it.
Anne xx
needahug - i agree with the comment about drinking alot of water. keeping yourself hydrated really does help. i drank alot on the day and took a 1.5ltr bottle of water with me so had to visit the loo quite frequently.
plus i had way over a litre of saline along with chemo so i was well and truly hydrated and i do believe it all helped.
xx
Just want to echo what needahug says angel18, I too downed so much water I felt as though I would drown - 3 litres plus tea/coffee etc. I’m still aiming for 2 litres per day right through treatment - but 3 litres in the 48hrs either dide of juice. So far no nausea and no headaches. May not help, but certainly won’t harm.
The only other addition to my usual pretty healthy diet is I eat a teaspoonful of Manuka honey 12+. My Onc said I could eat things like that that were food - but not to take anything else as it could affect treatment.
I also had oily fish each day - think I had salmon four times in five days lol.

Hi Anne, yes I was also Friday the 13th. I had FEC - what about you? I had the cold cap but they didn’t wet my hair and it wasn’t on very long so reading other posts I am worried now that it might not work.
Clare x
scotianne - your hair loss sounds the same as mine. i’m on day 16 today and head is very tender on top and like you my hair is only coming out when i run my fingers through it. dreading washing it but gonna bite the bullet and do it today xx
Lynzi - stop that right now or I’ll put you in the naughty corner - or make you do 100 lines ‘I must not tug my poor old hair!’
Sue x
Yep FEC as well. Didn’t try cold cap. I colour my hair every 6 weeks as I’m very gray so if I couldn’t have my roots touched up I would shave it off anyway. Would rather be bald than have inch long regrowth lol.
Is your next juice next Friday same as me?
Anne xx
ooooh that’s me told!! thanks Sue hehe xx
Samos, you had me laugh. I can’t resist pulling it a little, it is really such a strange feeling. Well I say feeling as there no pain. I noticed it last night when plucking my eyebrows and it didn’t hurt, in fact there was nothing. Keeping an eye on LG lol.

morning ladies!!!
Day 2 and am ravenous…woke in the night looking like I had a session on a sunbed??? anyone else had this?
Unfortunately I am a smoker and am waiting to feel unwell as this may help in giving up…it is so hard and I feel guilty smoking.
Its good to see all your posts re hair loss and the different SE’s we are all having, it just goes to show this journey will be different for us all
Had a call from my BCN this morning telling me after my next juicing at the Christie I will be transferred to my local hospital (bolton) for the remainder of my treatment. This is a big weight off as LO is still too young to be home alone.
Hope you are all being good to yourselves
p.s. STOP PULLING YOUR HAIR ALL OF YOU LOL X X
I will definately be upping my quota on water…is it okay to go to the toilet whilst having chemo tho cos the nurses told me not to move my arm!Obviously bit early for any tenderness with my hair/scalp,but is there anything that you can do to make it feel better??
x
wowzers just had a lot of hair come out of my head from me running my fingers through my hair. i wish we could share pictures on here. xx
angel18 - i was fine going to the loo. i had the cold cap on too but they just disconnect that whilst you’re away. my chemo drip was even beeping at one point and stopped as it needed plugging in but it wasn’t a problem…if you’ve got to go you’ve got to go ; ) xx
TOP TIP!
I had a terrible time on my first cycle with constipation and then the opposite when overdoing prune juice.
This time I took Docusate Sodium, 2 the evening of the treatment and then 2 two times a day. Everything absolutely normal. Phew. Will continue taking for a couple of days whilst taking anti sickness tablets.
I too look like I’ve been on a sunbed! Face and neck a bit red.
Just washed my hair and lots came out, but still plenty there. Shaved my legs as getting desperate. Hopefully it won’t grow back! Everything else intact still.

Hi Anne, yes I’m next Friday too. I dye my hair every 6 weeks too, no idea how grey I am as have been dyeing it for years.
