Oh Lynzi - you made me laugh - my experience of going to the loo during treatment sounds just the same - all the bits and pieces and disconnected cold cap with dangling bit - all except mine didn’t beep until I got back. Angel18, yes you just take everything with you.
Re: scalp - mine is just tender over the top too - not at the sides or back - interesting!.
If anyone needs a laugh have a read of this thread:
Article in Sunday Times Replacing Chemo with Vitamin C injec
I am at my desk laughing out loud can’t possibly tell anyone why!!
Would like to echo the water ! i am trying to keep up to 3 litres a day as mouth is dry find taking little sips helps and chewing gum!!!
Also juicing, i have ajuice for all eventualities ; fatigue, sore mouth , flu you name it i juice it!!!
Still on the brocolli every morning thoughX
Angel - know how you feel, my 2 girls are starting to rehearse for the Urdd Eisteddfod in June, and there a full day prelims to get through first and i have always gone!!!Hoping it won’t fall on a low week!X
Well done jules for getting transferred to your local hospital, Christies is mine (who knows our paths may have crossed already), it’s only five miles or so from home. It certainly helps having treatment close, although getting there in rush hour traffic is a nightmare!
I’ve also had what I call ‘pink around the gills’ look - but thought it was wind burn as hubby persists in dragging me out for air lol.
Sitting here chuckling to myself as somehow talk of wind brings soc to mind. Can’t think why that would be lol.
Dawnrise, yes please, share your cold cap picture! I’ve meant to ask you, but chemo brain stepped up and I’ve forgot - what sort of boat are you living on? I have a friend who lives on a narrow boat but dreams of a Dutch barge! I guess if it coming from Portugal then it is not a narrow boat…
Lynzi, there are over 100 000 pieces of hair on your head. Even if a lot, say a 1000 falls out now, you will still have 99% of your hair!
Angel, all through the 3 weeks I did not feel bad enough to have to say that I wouldn’t be able to do something. I’ve slept for Denmark and Hungary first 3 days, but I was on Emend and I believe it is a known side effect. That said, Emend made sure I was not quizzy at all - AT ALL. First week rather fuzzy around the edges, with a FANTASTIC appetite, no constipation (I ate dried plums and apricots). Second week the fuzzyness continued, and on Saturday and Sunday I felt quite low - not in my mood, more like low in my body. And now I am me! If seriously balding!
Jules, I am a fellow smoker. I feel guilty smoking too, but still do it. Never once was I too ill for it! I don’t know if I should be sad or happy about that…
I am nesting today! I know it is / was a bad idea, but took out ALL my paperwork, old school books, generic junk that I put away with ‘I will need that at some point, I am sure’, to ‘organize it’. So far I’ve managed to cover the floor of the study with junk - the easy part. Now I am loosing steam and interest … Might stay this way until tomorrow… Hehehehehe!
Hi all, finding this thread very supportive and helpful. I am on day 10, feeling remarkable well and my hair is still intact! Just feel extremely tired at times. Cant stop eating but find I am waking up about 3 am and cant get back to sleep for hour or so, anyone else experiencing this!? Next treatment is 6th feb…bring it on, figure my hair will be growing back for the summer. Good luck and best wishes to you all. Louise xx

i’ve been out to the shop earlier and wasn’t happy with the wind blowing my hair all over the place, kept thinking it was gonna fly off my head lol
with my chemo i found the first 3 days to be ok, not great with sleep. the 4th day it all went downhill from there, that was when i finished the steroids so was very emotial over the next few days. full of aches and pains from the injection, so agitated and anxious with terrible restless legs. day 5 was the worst for me. it gradually got better from there. i developed an ear inefection on day 7 which has only just cleared in the last few days after 3 lots of antibiotics and an appointment with my ENT specialist.
i think it was about day 11 when i started to wake up without a headache. it always cleared but took me about an hour to come round in a morning. day 12 was the start of hairloss, just from LG and yesterday - day 15 was the start of hairloss from my head. other than that i now feel like me, just normal if not slightly more tired than normal.
since the first chemo i’ve ended up in hospital 3 times, gosh i felt so bad but the nurses assured me it’s all trial and error with your first one so it usually settles the next time around … fingers crossed.
next dose on Tuesday 31st assuming bloods are ok, can’t wait to get it out of the way and that’ll be 2 down 4 to go before Rads starts.
i seem to have developed a little red rash on my hand over the last few days. not far from where i had the IV put in for chemo. quite red and dry. has anyone else experienced this?
went out with with my close friends last night to Nandos (my favourite) and had a few glasses of wine after, not had such a good time in what feels like forever…i tell you what i bloody needed that wine. it was great to feel ‘normal’ again.
my best friend is getting married next year, i’m chief bridesmaid (what an honour, never been a bridesmaid before) and we’re off to the venue on Sat. she’s wanting to pay the deposit and i’m wanting to have a nosey around. i can’t wait
should have a few visits from family over the weekend also, my family live in Manchester whilst i’m in Huddersfield.
also going out for a curry with my OH tomorow night, after the big shop so lots to keep me occupied until next chemo.
Good grief, you lot can natter, only been away a day and pages to catch up on.
Summer, hi back to you too, thanks for thinking of me. I did not get option of cold cap as hosp no longer do it where I am.
I have finally gone for it and chopped/shaved-ish head hair off as was driving me mad falling out all over the place and waking me up in the night when it seemed to be all over my face!. Daughter was scared to look as I wore my cap to start with. Showed son and he said I look like I’ve been tortured. Thanks son! OH says I’ve got a nice head and it looks ok. It is patchy though so will be better when it all falls out.
Linzi I am also v naughty and have been pulling at my hair. I figured that if its coming away then it will fall out anyway and I’d rather be the one to make it fall out . OH was talking to someone he works with who has had chemo. She said a big lump of hair fell out while she was paying for something and fell onto the counter. How embarrassing must that have been? Now I’ve shaved it off I feel so much better, like I’ve gained a bit of control.
Angel, you will be absolutely fine for your daughter’s thing. I am day 17 and have felt good for about 10 days and before that was not bad. I think it’s just the first week when you feel a bit sh***y but saying that everyone is different, but I think you can plan on going.
Got bloods tomorrow then 2nd juice on Monday. Good luck anyone being juiced tomorrow.
Oh Linzi I had a rash while they were giving me chemo and they said I was having a local reaction and that the vein was not coping. Had to have the line put in a different vein. They gave me hydrocortizone cream for it, which I didn’t bother with as it had gone by the time I had got home. Might be worth you giving chemo dept a ring.
Anyway night night all X
Angel - i have been out and about as normal from day 6, from day 7 defo back to " normal" self!
Both little ones have virus now - both have fever but i am still well except for head cold so figure that’s a good sign - i have been with littlest one most ie in bed with her while her fever was worst and since big little one has gotten ill but not me!
well ladies - esp anne and clare - i am day 13 as well and NO hair loss at all - none from LG (although i keep checking!) and still no more than normal (although it seems not as much as normal) from head! big day 14 tomorrow and i am washing it in the morning as going into work so we’ll see! Clare - i also had dry hair with cold cap and have been going to ask bcn about it cause was worried - wondered if chemo nurse (as had chemo at home) made a mistake - intersting that yours was dry as well
I am surprised by how little side effects i’ve had - no mouth or skin issues, etc - really feel so well almost forget about chemo!!
I am so pleased about your boat DR - it is so good to have something so exciting to look forward to!
Take care everyone!
Marina xx
PS Glad i haven’t had a rant about smokers yet then ladies!! won’t hold it against you just may have to persude you to quit!! that is one positive so far - my BC DX has helped to persuade one of my 15 yr old form students that he should quit - helped him research and look into options before finished work for chemo hope he succeeds!!
