Right then you lot. Am I the only goody two shoes here who has abstained from the demon alcohol? Glass of wine I hear you say or even two!!! Hmmm, now feeling v badly done to. Ice with the water anyone?
And shadders - a torture victim, well he’s spot on there isn’t he lol. I’m also hoping my head has a nice shape to it, small things cheer us up…
Jacqui - oh my i think i’d die of shame. you’re so brave shaving it off. i’m not sure if i’ll ever shave mine, i don’t think i’ve got it in me. i’ll just put my wig on over what’s left - if anything.
my vein was ok on the day, looked a bit red and swollen at the time but soon calmed down. yeah i suppose i need to ring them, i was putting it off as i know they’ll want me to come in and to be honest i’m sick of the place lol it doesn’t hurt or bother me but i suppose it needs checking out. night night love xx
Jacqui, we are on the same schedule! Both with juicing and hair. I am now bald, except for some stubble, which I’ve tried to shave, but somehow my lady blades are not suitable. Will get some blokey things tomorrow and have another go.
I have Mr Spoke like ears! And it is cold without any hair…!
Jules, easy girl! It is an OK city - but it is far from wonderful! The Danes are beatiful, both boys and girls, added bonus when you plain and now bald, don’t you think? Are you on benefits? I am very lucky with my company (and Denmark!) I get full pay as long as I am off sick, there is no limit, like 6 months.
Samos, yes, I think you might be the only goody two shoes in this lot. I have had white wine last Friday (red was tasting off) but then on Monday tried it again and having a glass every night since. It’s good for your blood, you know?
How brave of you ScaredOfChemo to post a bald photo - that is something I couldn’t bring myself to do so I salute you!
I used my ladyshave to get rid of the stubble. It’s all coming back now, I found eyebrows today when I looked in the mirror! So exciting.
Hope you have all asked about free parking permits at your hospitals and prescription exemption certificates. I got both, plus two wig prescriptions.
The effects of chemotherapy tend to to be cumulative - you will get more tired as each one passes. I ditched the cold cap after the first chemo - it didn’t work for me. If you can stick it out then go for it, I do know people who had good results.
Samos you are not the only one not drinking. I really would love a glass of red but when OH offers me one I feel nauseated and never thought I’d see that day. I had acid reflux after chemotherapy and now take omeprazol and wine just makes me think the reflux will come back. Maybe next week when I have my good week.
Don’t smoke either. Sound like Adam Ant ’ don’t drink, don’t smoke, what do you do’ ! Might leave it there actually.
Yeah on benefits…was working but as soon as I had to go on sick the very small co. I worked for closed their doors unfortunately I was the only sales person there so no sales, no jobs
It was the only way they could get out of paying me!!!
So for the next 6 months I am a lady of leisure…at the age of 43 this is the first time I have been on benefits and I HATE IT!!!
Does anyone know of companies who employ cancer sufferers???
Heey Samos - I am also abstaining from alcohol although to be fair I haven,t been a big drinker for a long while … How righteousness are we?
Day 9 today and feeling absolutely shattered in fact all my SE are scarily similar to when I was pregnant strange sudden fatigue, nausea and vomiting and can no longer drink coffee.
I am also waking up very early between 4-5 but cause I am sleeping during the day I sometimes just get up as I find I am better on a morning and can get quite a bit done.
Drinking lots of tea and giving white bread and butter a good hammering but not much appetite otherwise. Hoping to have a good time between now and the 8th when I get potion number 2!
Day 3, 1st day being when i had juicing - stomach is rolling so not leaving the loo! OH taken kids to school, also was awake from 3am to 6am!!! what’s up with that!!!
No i am abstaining aswell, like my red wine, but drank my last bottle couple days before juicing - that’s not to say if i do go out i might try one , i know how good it is for you!!!
Very quiet duvet day for me, and i was planning a walk too!!!
Don’t plan!
joyceX
Well here I am, feeling very sorry for myself. And very cold!
You feel so ridiculous with your face all squashed up with that tight chin strap.
The machine I am using is a Paxman and apparently they recently recommended using it cold as it produces a more even ‘cold’.
I definitely feel a bit more tired this time and the sickness was only just at bay yesterday.
Was it SOC who asked about the boat? It’s actually a Dutch steel cruiser/trawler. 14m long. We’ll be berthing it in Brighton marina where we are now. It’s a seagoing boat which will fit into the canals and rivers. Have plans to go down the Danube to the Black Sea one day.
After 10,000 miles of sailing to and from the Med I had enough of those big scary sails. This one has none. OH not happy about that, but coming terms with it bless him.
Morning lushes and virtuous abstiners (scuse spelling)
Day 9 for me, and all still remains good. Went for a 5 mile walk yesterday and am pleased to say I’ve no after effects! Well, apart from realising half way through I was wearing odd boots! Can you believe that? Luckily one was a right boot and the other a left. No hope for me as treatment progresses is there!
The boat sounds lovely Dawn. We have friends currently sailing the med in their yachts - think one set of them is wintering in Marmaris Turkey. And at the end of Feb the bil is off to crew for a couple who are sailing around the world. It’s a three month jolly for him to sail one of the stages - think he’s escaping from ‘a’ level madness at home lol.
I don’t know what happens in the middle of the night, as so many of us are awake at 3 and 4 am etc. As if we aren’t tired enough! I’ve been better the last couple of nights, just as well really as I’m pretty zombied.
Thanks supertrooper for the reminder re prescription exemption - did mine earlier this week. Didn’t know about free parking, but that would be brilliant if Christies offered it, so note to self to check with them.
Wigs in but can’t raise enthusiasm to go and see it, but I guess it must be done…
Had my second dose yesterday and feeling “OK” tired and lost my taste buds again but no headaches this time. I felt a little queasy last night and earlier this morning but the anti-sickness drugs seem to have worked.
Lynzi - I did suffer with headaches after my first FEC and mentioned this to my oncologist who has changed my anti-sickness drugs as apparently the headaches are a SE of the tablets and not the chemo and so far head seems better.
I am going to the Look Good Feekig Better meeting on Monday and just wonder if anyone else has used this.
Good luck to everyone starting chemo and those about to start on this journey.
Popping over from the February thread. It’s good to hear that most of you are coping OK with the SEs Hugs for the ones who are finding it more difficult.
I’ve now decided not to use the cold cap, as I’ve got two large moles on my scalp, which I’ve had since I was little, and I would rather the chemo reached them. I can also then buy a long wig
thanks Debbie i will mention it. i think they are changing my sickness meds due to other se’s so we will see.
glad you’re feeling well. ah losing the taste buds yeah i had that pretty much straight away too but it soon goes. well i suppose mine seems to come and go throughout.
i’m also going to the look good feel better day but not until 6th March, really looking forward to it. you’ll have to let us know how you get on
xxx
p.s Hi Chris, thanks for popping in…hope you are well. good luck with the wig shopping xx
my hair is really coming out now. not falling out in clumps just yet it’s just when i’m running my fingers through it. the loss has been triple what came out yesterday and i’m coming across a few bald patches now although they can be hidden for the moment. so looks like it’s soon time to get familiar with my new ‘friends’ Beverley & Zoe aka my wigs eeeeeeeeek!!! xxx
Debbie thats interesting about the headaches,i had my first chemo on Tuesday and have mainly been suffering from bad headaches, have been drinking so much water to see if that helps, but come the evening that tends to be the worst time,so when i go for chemo no.2 i will mention to my oncologist.xx
