Hi girls
Katie I’m so happy for you now you have finished.Does it feel brilliant or has it not really sunk in yet?
I have my planning for rads tomorrow which I’m sure is going to put me on another downer as because of Christmas and new year will take me six weeks to complete and will be back and forth to the hospital right over the Christmas hols.My poor kids will a have to come with me as my oh goes back offshore just after Christmas .Just need to wait see whos around for childminding duties over the festive period!
On a more positive note have nearly finished my christmas shopping, have ordered the food and have even organised a party the week before christmas .All i need to get is a lovely sparkly dress that does not make me look fat! My hubby and I have decided to sit down on Christmas day and book a family holiday for in January as soon as I finish my rads so Katie I will look forward to hearing how you fare on your hols.
Rexi well done with the house move a fresh start for you and don’t worry about the op I found it ok and was home by 8pm and relaxing in my own bed so hope you are the same
Lorna I too seem to struggle emotionally at times. It feels like I am doing really well and then wham something triggers it off and I am an emotional wreck again.also I seem to fly off the handle really easily and get myself worked up into a state about the smallest things.hopefully like all the other stages we have been through this too will pass.
Sandy toes I too am longing to do some proper exercise.Tried some running at the weekend but really couldn’t run very far so am just walking further and faster when out with dog and when I get tired having a seat on a bench and pretending to admire the view.
Everyone else hope you are well
Pam

Bertha b good luck for tomorrow .Do you know how long you will be in hospital for?
Pam

Good luck for tomorrow BerthaB and good luck for Monday Rexi … Can’t believe how well you have done in moving house, you make me worn out just reading your posts!!! Lorna & Sandytoes, I am getting the breathlessness and aches & pains still too BUT I have my last radiotherapy tomorrow yeh, can’t believe how quickly it’s gone! Well done Katie on finishing your rads, my boob is lovely and red too and i will keep slapping on the aqueous cream and the aloe Vera gel (my hospital recommend the gel and also supply it … Thought I would mention that as some hospitals don’t).

Pinkypam, well done on all your Christmas shopping and party planning  tomorrow will be fine and you will soon get used to whipping your top off everyday and lieing on a table with your arms in stirrups … Really you will! The things we have to do. …

I have cording under my arm so it’s back to the physio for me next week … Those of you that have had your lymph nodes removed recently and those about to have them removed make sure you do your exercises, I didn’t, my excuse was i didn’t have the energy while I was on chemo, but I should have found some as I still have a lot of pain there and now cording grrrr and my op was back in June!

My next hurdle will be going back to work in the new year, just can’t imagine it at the moment, very daunting.

xx

Hello girls ,

Had op eventually . They put in a wire before op to point to the marker …as for the cold the anethatist decided the risk of having a cold is outweighed by the risk of delay . Cough hurts but glad it is done ! Results next Thursday.

Doing ok so far . Hope to get out and home on Saturday. Tomorrow .
Mum came to visit am and my lovely husband here now. ."…

Lindylou . Doing exercises like a mad thing … Thanks for the advise. …

Coo, quite a lot going on. i feel exhausted just reading it all.
Well done BB - hope you’ll be home soon and wishing you hassle free recovery.
Rexi- congratulations - you are in without a hiccup. Good luck for the op. Just made it in time!
Surprise party Katie, how lovely. My OH is great, but can’t imagine him ever doing that.
Sandy - I haven’t got a huge pink boob yet (well, no worse than before!). Have just finished my 1st week of rads and am just becoming aware of a slight feeling of tenderness in that boob. I expect I’ll be on fire by the end of next week, but on schedule to be finished before Christmas.
Sparkly dress coming out tonight for Christmas do at The Grand darlinks!
Don’t tell anyone I had to let it out a bit…
Can’t wear skyscraper heels due to chemo feet. Will have to make do with pretty, sparkly kitten heel mules. Which wig to wear, got to do nails, better go and get ar*e into gear!
Have a good week-end everyone. The sun is shining here and the seagulls are squawking.

BB - hope you’re back home and being looked after. Well done you with the exercises.

Rexi - hope you’re having a bit of a relax before op on Monday…

Oooh! SB! Have a laaaarvely night. It has been such gorgeous weather down here hasn’t it?! This time last year we were all snowed in.

I’ve just been for a walk by the seaside and now off to pick out our tree. Feeling very Christmassy!!

Berthas

Oooops…!!

BB - drain out already? How long was the drain in for? I have my mx on the 20th and worried about still having drains in on Xmas day.

ST - I had a double mastectomy, no drains and out the next day. Some surgeons don’t use drains…

Sandytoes - my surgeon mentioned drains so I guess he does use them. My BCN talked about me needing a bag to carry them around in. All getting a bit close now and a bit “real” if you know what I mean!

Yes, I know what you mean. But then you’ll be done in time for Christmas - much better than having it hanging over you during the festive period. And I hope your family aren’t making you cook Christmas lunch? Make sure you get spoiled rotten, get the wishbone, the last mincepie etc etc! X

Everyone is coming for Christmas dinner knowing that they all have to “muck in” otherwise no one eats! I have been stocking up the freezer and making things in advance where I can. Made vanilla ice cream yesterday - just hope no one finds it before the day itself or it will be gone. How are you now? What is the next stage for you?

Hi ST,

The consultant I had just put a drain in where I had my lumph nodes removed but none in the breast. It was in for 2 days only. As Sandy Toes said it varies from each one.

In the hospital I went to they do not send you home with drains which was my main concern due to the kids.
Suggest you check if your concerned…

Yes the close and real feeling… when someone said your operation with next week in the same sentence…thats when I realised it was real.
Kind regs,
Julia.

SB - I had a masectomy and recon and drains were in for 4 days - just keep going on at them, thats what i did as was desperate to get home to my kids. I think they took them out to get rid of me in the end!!
BB - So pleased your op is done - so nearly there now.
Rexi is probabaly having her op as we speak so when your reading this it must mean you are all done and I am sure all went well.
I am seeing my oncologist tonight and then will hopefully be signed off for 3 months - SCARY!!!
I am off to florida on saturday - I think once I get on that plane i wont stop crying as never thought I would get here!
My burns are very sore from the rads, under my arm has now blistered and cant wear a bra. I am not sure how long until this heals?
Katie xx

BB glad to hear you’re home and all went well.
Hope all went well for you too today Rexi.
Ooh Katie, have the burns got worse since your rads finished then? I finished last Thursday, I would say mine looks a little less red since stopping BUT feels quite heavy!? If the blisters burst don’t use the aqueous cream, I was advised not to put on broken skin and that my bcn would be able to give me something to put on to protect it so worth checking with your nurse.

Hope everyone else is doing ok…, I seem to be in limbo at the moment, still aches and pains, numb fingers and toes, regular hot flushes and it has now been 8 weeks since my last chemo … 8 weeks!!! Wow doesnt seem possible. I must admit though my energy levels are definitely on the up

Love to everyone x
