Starting chemo in May 2011

Evening All
Had FEC3 this afternoon with my new line it was so much better, also had a change of anti-sickeness instead of ondanestron was given a injection of Aloxi it might alos help with my ‘concrete guts’ bloomin hope so.So far feeling a little out of sorts bit of a headache and tummy is so bloated but thats probably me over doing the drinks to try and flush this rubbish out.Made the daft mistake of taking a appointment with GP at 8.50 in the morning going to see if I can get that hirudoid cream for my arm also have come out in some pretty big spots on my baldy bonce lets hope I wake up what was I thinking.

Hello mayflowers! Please forgive yet another intrusion from a March hare.

A little tip for whoever it was with vitiligo (I’ve been trying to think of that word for WEEKS - the closest I got was impetigo - a completely different problem!)

Buff do UV-protective Buffs. I do have one somewhere, and it’s just as comfy as the regular ones. And soaking said Buff in water is indeed a brilliant way to cool down.

It’s me with spots of vitiligo - and it is also me that tells folk on this forum to soak Buffs with water on hot days - been using them for YEARS mate

Me 'ead copped the sun for 2 reasons:

  1. I was trying to get me bonce brown so it was exposlied with factor 30 on.
  2. I didn’t know I had Viti patches on it until this week :frowning:
  3. Never really had sunburn before; don’t burn. I do now, apparently!

Now then, if I use Rapidlash on my armpit merkins, d’ye think that I can get a comb-over right up onto me bonce?

It *could* work…

Hi May buddies!

Can’t believe we’re nearly into July now!

Well, I’ve 3rd fec later today. ‘half way there’ so everyone keeps reminding me! I know! But doesn’t make it any easier! I’m not sure whether anyone else would agree, but I actually dread each one more as it comes around. But this one down, then same again to go!

Been out last night for our pre fec meal, me and hubby. I find it gives us time to try and relax before today, enjoy some nice food, & nice company when I’m feeling at my best, plus I wore ‘wilma’ (the name for my wig!) for the 3rd time now. Find I feel fine to wear it or wear nothing where people don’t know me but in my town, just can’t quite do it…yet!

Been out running/gyming for last 2wks every day bar 1 which I’m really pleased about and find it really helps me mentally and of course physically. Just thankful I’m able to do it.

To all those being poisoned this week, best of luck! & to
those suffering with se’s, big hugs. (())).

One last thing, I succumed and invested in the Rapidlash, came this morning! My eyelashes are still
present but thought I’d try it, anything to preserve them! Don’t think I’ll be trying it under my arms though! Lol!

Best of luck ladies. Xxx

Good morrow. GL with being FECked today Poppy.

Rhona - hope your SEs are small and few. For the concrete guts - eat Medjool dates, girl. I hated the Movicol stuff - make me heave - so used dates, nuts and the odd senokot taglet. Thankfully, there are far fewer anti-emetics needed with Tax so concrete guts not really a problem now.

Was chatting with GP yesterday about the Tax Trots and how my lower tum was on fire followed by the fire trots that really burned my ‘tract’ for hours; not relieved by vaseline :frowning:
He said that it was to be expected and that’s what the Taxol poison does. Great; another 14 weeks of a volcano for an are…

Hi everyone,

I see a few of you are up for poisons today. Good luck.

Ninja, Fire ar*e from FEC for me. Most people here seem to have problems with constipation and I am the complete reverse. When I got thrush on my first round of FEC the diarrhoea hitting the infected skin around my ar*e hole (I got thrush everywhere)just stripped the skin away. It is still not completely healed. A few small splits in the skin and one big one. The GP gave me an antibiotic cream with hydrocortisone in it which has helped but I can’t see there is any chance of a full healing in that area until the chemo is finished. I think the epirubicin mixed in with the diarrhoea the first few days after treatment doesn’t help things either, as it causes skin irritation. Nice subject for a Thurs am.

Neutrophils are 3.0 so Thunderbirds are go!
I got my GP to check my egestion point (IYSWIM) yesterday and he said it was fine now after the Fire Trots, looked like it had been sore but everything now recovering.
Lost all dignity, now, me.

Morning May buddies,

Wandy and Ninja - lovin’ the new piccies. I’ll post a more recent one soon of my new upper ‘stubble’, I’ve now decided not to shave my legs in protest against the noggin’ shaving and hope that they’ll disappear soon - I may have to go out ‘naked’ up there to distract from the chewbacca legs…

Poppykitten - best of luck for today - ‘halfway through’ ha ha, I’ve had that comment for last 3 weeks only mine is ‘nearly half way there’ I’ve got FEC3 next Mon, I too dread the next one more, not for the side effects per se, but the actual poisoning being administered - I just want to shout at the chemo nurse, just leave me the #%*# alone and run away…

Belfor and concrete gutters (sounds wrong) - I’m using lactulose as standard twice daily whether need it or not, on top of copious amounts of fruit and it seems to work most of the time but have some ‘jelly babies’ in reserve for when controlled explosions in nuclear reactor no2 are required…

Cherry and smiles - glad you had fab weekends away - sooooo jealous, I need to plan something soon.

Ninja - glad netrophils are coming back, and dignity, yep, can appreciate that one, when I was 21 both of my lungs collapsed (due to being too tall and too sporty - who’dve guessed), being hooked up with drains in both armpits and frozen shoulders in residence I got my monthly visit from the ‘period pixie’ and believe me it ain’t great having the nurses change your tampon, worse still my mum offered to do it for me too - a step too far I thought!!!

Not been on here too much last few days as I’ve now begun to drive again post-ops (yay), good to get away from house but finding half an hour is most I can manage (to hospital) without losing concentration… Now off to greenhouse to water toms and chillis…

Small side effects to those who’ve been in recently, good luck to those due in imminently and to those suffering, sending bestest wishes and big hugs…

Oh ladies you do make me laugh… Merkins, fire trots, hairy leg protests - we may have no dignity left but sense of humour still in tact!

Rapid lash working for me so far - but still a long way to go. Would love to see the comb over though.

Well done Poppy kitten on working out and braving Wilma.
I’ve been working out too and find it helps me both mentally and physically.I am also trying to avoid gaining too much weight from chemo as I’ve also given up a 20 a day stinky habit which combined with steroids is a recipe disaster.

And Ninja - see I’m spreading the Neutrowotis love - you go girl!
Good luck today Poppykitten

Big hugs to all x

Smiles xx

Oh, Beverlie, having to have the contents of one’s bedpan examined every time was bad enough, but communal tampon changing? Bridge too far love.

Lovely nurse today injected the dex very slowly so I didn’t get the itchy bottom feeling, yay!

EC3 was on Monday, Neulasta on Tuesday … meltdown Wednesday pm … but managed lunch out today, trip to hairdressers to get wiggy no 2 styled … and even the supermarket! Now I’ve collapsed.
Rapidlash also good for brows I’m told …
Wish I could go for a poo! x

Hmmmph!

Should have been seeing Take That tonight at Wembley…I’m not bitter.

Smiles x

Ninja, I can’t stop laughing!! You will be able to sit on them soon if they keep growing at this rate.

Smiles, So sorry you missed your concert. I had to pull out of something I was looking forward to at the end of May and was really pied off as the whole day I was reminded that I was sat at home because I was had had chemo the day before.

Hope everyones SEs are behaving.

Hello everyone. So glad that my armpit merkins are making you all smile.

I’ve not been out of bed long but my mood is good, no nausea at all and not taken any TTO anti-emetic meds. Weekly Taxol SO MUCH better for me than EC which was slowly killing me. I may change my mind as the effects accumulate over the 15 weeks, though! 2 down, 13 to go and no neutropenia yet; neutrophils 3.0 yesterday so no mucositis whatsover yet. I can eat. Yay!

Bit bunged, up, however…

May all your SEs be as mild as mine at the mo.

Hi Darling Buddies
Fec3 was ok as i said and am feeling pretty good today. Took grandson swimming with my daughter this morning but had to sleep after. I’ve cut down on my emetics cos i dont want to end up in that black hole i got dumped in after fec2. so hopefully onwards and upwards.
Things have yet again taken another turn Husbands diabetes now out of control suppose it could be due to stress over me appointment on monday cos i’m so worried blood sugar 18.9 and then my son 37yrs has been told he may have raynauds disease his left has 4 purple toes which are not responding to medication and now looks like a cardio-vascular emergency and if it goes any darker a and e asap. Whatever did I do for the whole family to fall apart with me. Daughters hubby has gone home to his mum but still walks in everyday to see James.
Nothing i can do just be there and pick up the pieces. Sorry its a bit out there but where else can i say whats bothering me.
Love yo all Chris x

Ninja - you’ll be plaiting them next!!! Had a lovely day out with my daughter bra shopping… went to Eloise in Huntingdon - success! 'spensive, but good service and comfy… What I want to know is, why are my eyebrows sloping off, lashes departing, lady garden naked EXCEPT for outside bikini line and I’ve still got hairy legs!!!

I totally agree with you GIJaneH because my eyebrows are so thin, eyelashes gone, and I look like baby down there in the lady garden! LOL… But I got to shave the bikini line and legs. This so weird

So sorry Little Miss Whoops, it never rains but it pours…I’m feeling for you.

Gi Jane & icare - what cycle are you on?

Smiles xx

Evening All,

Sorry things seem to be totally rotten for you Little Miss Whoops, I hope things improve for you and your family, gosh, you really seem to have had the sh*tty stick waved in your general direction and correct me if I’m wrong, but you seem to be the ‘rock’ for your entire family - sending you a huge squeeze (and a big ear) as there is nothing I can say that would probably make things any better - I’m glad, however, that you’re feeling ok after your FEC3 though and hope that any SE’s (if any) are small and behave for you this weekend…

Has anyone heard from PolePrincess recently? Don’t think I’ve seen her on here for a while and she had a rough time last cycle didn’t she? I hope she is doing ok…

Ninja - love the new pits, I laughed so hard I nearly let out some wee - you must have too many neutrophils on the loose, who have you been getting them from… Glad the TAX is better for you, apart from the seal not being broken too often…

Hairs - well still have some LG left (but not much) with a few stragglers outside the bikini line, armpits - clear, nose keeps dribbling so I guess nose-hair is departing, still have brows and lashes, legs - still refusing to shave them, head - the stubble ain’t going - we’ll have to see if FEC3 (and my last FEC) does a complete job before TAX gets in there…

Good luck to those going in next week, small SE’s to those recently been done, hugs to those in need and jazz hands/big smiles to those well enough to be away from here (meant in the nicest possible way) for the time being.

Have a good weekend all,
Bev x
