Starting chemo in September

Hi Gals,

Hope everyone is ok and not struggling too much.

Ended up in hospital with a tooth abscess, what fun! Everything fine now after a week on antibiotics!

Fi, hope you are feeling better and yes, about the body hair, I can relate to that!!!

Hugs to all, xoxo

Hi Girls

Wow Lil, Hippos in the garden. My elderly pony can only just cope going past pigs, can’t begin to imagine what she would think to a hippo. You have no idea how your posts light everything up.

My girls Ginge are from 19 to 25, the youngest left for uni this September so now all their angst is conducted at a distance although when they get together they get into the same places, youngest spoilt, middle stroppy and elder bossy and although they argue, put them together and they gang up on me. Better than the running battles that they kept up during their early teens though. Your boys, Sozza and Jay sound wonderful.

I am with you on the body hair Fi, it seems to have disappeared but I haven’t seen it go. Head is like an unevenen brush though, some still growing but very patchy. In my first week post chemo I feel like a hag and the wig is all wrong but when I feel better in weeks 2 and 3 it feels ok.

It must happen for you Kate, we will all be willing it to and with this formidable bunch of women behind you how could it fail xxx

I have found you lot the most inspiring possible, all ages and all over the country, just thanks to everyone for being here

To all of us a good Friday night xxx

Hi Sexy Septembers
Well, Friday is here, and we all made it through another week YEAHHHH !!!
Im bored bored bored, so have decided to start a little internet business doing accommodation bookings for lodges, and also offering travel packages and tours. There are already 10000s of companies doing it, but think Im going to give it a go. Just tryring to find a website designer that understands the phrase LOW BUDGET….these people are insane ! Will take a few weeks, but hope you will visit my website once I get it all together.
Jay…wouldn’t want to leave Moz permanently, just long enough to have a pint or two down the local, and have a burger from a place in Brighton called GRUBBS….they probably closed down decades ago, but I remember them well!
Sarah…I cant believe how different you sound. Its fantastic…not too many weeks ago you were so nervous and worried, and now it sounds just like you wanna ‘kick some butt”…GREAT !!!
Ginge…also do the 4am thing…its like an alarm clock going off. I know a really foul evil joke about bending down, but cant put it on here…will get another slap on the hand from our Moderator….has anybody else had that…or am I the only bad girl ???
Kate…thanks for the compliment, but the only secret to looking OK at my age is to buy a really cheap lousy camera, so the wrinkles don’t show up in the pics !! Hope the Tax SEs leave you alone to enjoy the weekend. Hope and pray that all your dreams come true for you…you are such a warm loving person!
Fi…WOW…a 31yr old…would never have thought it. You look fab! Wish I was there with you curled up on a sofa watching……COUPONING ??? NOOOOO !!!
Rainbow Dancer….bad news about the abscess. Hope you ok now
SouthernLucy…what a wonderful thing to say…thanks so much
Well everybody…have a FAB weekend
Loads of hugs to you all
Lil xxx

PS…do you remember Ninja…well she HAS DUMPED US AND MOVED TO GREENER PASTURES…think its the July thread …can you believe that? The rejection is killing me…not that I was spying on July or anything…hehehe

Evening my friends…

Sorry to hear some of you are having trouble sleeping, makes the nights so long dosnt it…

Fi, sorry you are not feeling so good, its such an emotional rollercoaster, I hope you feel better soon…
My eyes arent sore just blurry, which is really annoying, my nurse did say some people get what feels like gritty eyes, and you can get eye drops to help…
Hope you enjoyed your afternoon on the sofa, and are still there while your lovely OH cooks you something nice! mind you if your anything like me nothing tastes nice right now!!..

Kate, hope those Tax SE dont hit too hard, or better still not at all…

Rainbow dancer, Glad you have recovered from your abscess, nasty…

Lil, Grubbs is still going strong! I would offer to send you one, but not sure you would want to eat it when it arrived!! maybe when all this is over you could come over for a pint and burger…

Have a nice evening everyone…

Love Jay X

Hope you all well and will keep popping back to see ya xxxx

Good morning Girls

Hooray! My vertigo has gone so I’ve got a few good days, I hope, until round 3 on Wednesday.

Sandi, I’ve been thinking about throwing a little soiree as a thank you for all my friends who’ve been so brill lately too. I won’t cook for them though, that would be cruel. It’ll have to come out of packets or be ready meals.

Good luck with the business Lil. Grubbs is still going strong, lovely burgers, especially the Blue Cheese.

Kate, don’t lose hope about being a Mummy! I’m keeping my fingers crossed for you too. Being awake in the middle of the night is so miserable, you’re bound to be a bit negative.

Jay and Sozza, you’re so lucky with your boys! My 19 year old is in complete denial about the situation, so won’t come near me at the moment, just when we should be supporting each other. I’m being patient, not really my forte, and hope he’ll accept it soon.

Have a good weekend everyone.

Morning Girls…

Good to hear from you Sandi, so glad you have small SEs this time, you have suffered enough, god you are so organised, xmas is such a headache for me this year!! I;m sure I will get there somehow…
Brilliant idea for a get together, would have to be takeaway if i do anything like that!!..

Nicola, Brilliant news No vertigo, what a relief for yo, long may it continue…
My 12 year old coped much better with the news than my older kids, my 25 year old son found the fact that i would lose my hair really hard to deal with, we do talk, easier said than done, I know, hes also that bit older than your boy, I really hope things work themselves out soon, its hard enough as it is… Take care…

Hope everyone else is ok…

Have a nice bonfire night and weekend…

Love Jay X

Hi Girls
My hair is looking shite, big bald patch at the top but cos its just below chin I can get away with wearing a hat which I like cos sometimes Wanda my wig gets on my nerves!!
BigbirdKate My friend had BC at 37 and wanted kids. She had chemo and did have a baby. She did however opt not to go on Tamoxifen , I don’t know how sensible that is. Are you hormone +? How old are you?
Nijawhi your son is keeping away from you cos he is scared. Like everyone else hears the C word and freaks. Now I know it is a bad thing to get but I know from my physcologist that the press make it worse cos the cancer research needs funding.
What I am trying to say is that it isn’t the death sentence it was years ago. I have read up and now completly understand the disease.
Try and educate your son that altho there is a stigma attached to it, most of us carry on to have a full life. I can name quite a few ladies who had it over 30 years ago.
Also tell your son not to look on the internet, too much crap is written.
Well I am singing with my choir tonight at the fireworks display, should be great fun, we sing songs like: Dancing in the streets,Valerie, Aint no Mountain.
In fact if any of you girls are interested look and see if there is a Rock Choir where you live. Singing really helps you through this.
Big hugs.
Sarah

Morning Girls

Thanks Sarah and Jay. I’m hoping he’ll accept it soon. I’ve been very positive about it with him, but like you say, people freak out when they hear that word. He won’t even talk to me or anyone else about it at the moment so maybe with a bit of space he’ll sort himself out. I worry that sometime in the future he’ll be beating himself up about how he’s reacted. My nephew who’s 13 is brilliant, asks lots of questions, and just assumes that it’s all going to work out ok.

On a lighter note, it’s so lovely to feel normal for a few days!

Enjoy the rest of the weekend.

Hi Lovely Ladies
AAARRRRGGHHH…our car has broken down so we need to crawl to SA tomorrow to get it into a repair shop.
Just want to wish everyone a FAB week…hope that SEs are tiny and positive energy HUGE.
Big hugs
Lil xxxx

Evening all,

I am currently watching The Cube from my hospital bed after waking up with a temperature of 38 at 5.30am! My bloods seem ok but my temperature won’t go back down so I am staying in tonight. I am pleased they are keeping me in as I would be paranoid at home. The hospital, nurses and even the food is lovely. They think I over did it yesterday as I went out for my mums birthday after only having my first tax on Wednesday. That will teach me!

Sozza, I am only 30 and am triple negative so hopefully I still have plenty of time for little ones. I am feeling much more positive after everyone’s kind thoughts and messages.

On the plus side, the SEs from tax have not been too bad so far apart from the shooting pains in my legs (which seem to ease with paracetamol) Ginge, how are you finding the SEs? Has anyone else started tax yet?

Lil, sorry to hear about your car. My OHs car broke down yesterday so we had to dash to the hospital in my old banger this morning! It must be really hard for you being so isolated from things we take for granted.

I hope everyone else is feeling ok and had a good weekend.

Kate xx

Hi Gals
Read a lovely blessing that I just had to share with you
“May our lives all be as good as we make them out to be on FaceBook”
hehehe. Have a GREAT week
Hugs, Lil xxx

Good morning all, I have not been on here for a couple of days as I’m not feeling to special plus my oh has been decorating the living room with me supervising lol!!

Lil sorry to hear about your car hope you can get it sorted ok.

Lets hope all your se’s are little ones.

Hugs to all xx
Sue

Morning ladies,

Everyone has gone very quiet recently. I hope it is because you are all feeling well and are too busy having fun! Good to hear from you sue, sorry you haven’t been feeling great. I hope the decorating goes well. X

I have done nothing but sleep since getting back from hospital and feel much better now.

I am having problems with my finger tips as they have gone numb and my nails feel bruised. Anyone having tax may want to prepare for this as it took me over an hour to get a paracetamol out of the packet yesterday! Opening bottles and packets is a massive challenge too, my mum had to loosen the lids on the jars in my fridge!

Have a good day everyone.

Kate xx

Thanks for the tip re fingertips Kate - start my first Tax today and am petrified.Am rubbing cream on hands and feet and have painted nails black but to be honest, if you are going to get problems i dont think you can really prevent them. Just have to roll with them I suppose
Just getting over the neutropenia with FEC and still feel weak. Missed out on my good days this time - not happy!!
Hope you are all coping and have only teeny weeny s/effects. The good thing is that we are all nearly or half way there now. The end is in sight!
Well, better go and try to make myself look half human before hospital!
Have good week and love to all xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Lyn

Morning Girls…

I seem to be suffering more after 3rd FEC, more SEs including the dreaded indigestion! trying to be patient as its only a week since treatment, got doctors tomorrow as throat and mouth are sore which i havent had before…

Kate, So glad to hear you are out of hospital, and feeling better…

Lyn, lots of luck for today…

Hope everyone else is ok today…

Love Jay X

Eek Jay, I got 3rd FEC on Monday. Everything has been far too good to be true and i was wondering if things got worse. How were you on FEC 1 and 2?

Jay, Chemo nurses have told me that 3rd FEC is usually the worst-i sailed through the first two but third one really hit me hard. Indigestion and sore mouth, just like you. It will ease. I think it is probably that these drugs build up in your body. Keep drinking plenty water etc. Hope you feel better soon
Love Lyn x

Hi Jay
Like you i’m finding this one worse, At my last session I was talking to a lady on her last fec, and she said that she found the 3rd one the worse so I dont know whether thats got anything to do with it. Plus they put me on four days steriods instead of three days which I was on for the first two.

Hope everyone is ok.

Love Sue xx

Has anyone using the cold cap noticed a difference in hair loss after the 3rd FEC?
