Beam67- yes I feel guilty everyday that I’m not going to be able to give my little one the full attention she needs and most of the care will be in my husbands hands as well as everything else he has to do, but she wont know any different or remember this so i have to be all me me me right now so that im around to watch her grow up. must be difficult when your children are older and watching you go through it. they’re maybe being typical lads and not knowing how to express what they feel or know what to do but you do need to be a bit selfish as hard as it may be and focus on kicking this cancers ass, your boys may be burying their head in the sand a little as a way of coping but until the chemo starts and you physically look and feel unwell they may surprise you how they react. Hugs.

Hope Avonlady ok bless her! Am hoping she’s knack erred and gone to bed and we will hear from her tomorrow! Good luck Rach andhevg123 up tomorrow hope you guys get on ok! hazey85 great news about the eye rows you will love them! Mine took a good 2 weeks to heal well enough to not look scabby lol worst part was not being allowed to get them wet for a week so no hair washing!! Take your sunglasses when you go as you’re not supposed to expose them to UV takes the colour out! Don’t panic if when they start healing it looks like they haven’t worked for some reason the colour seems to disappear then back it comes! Also they are scarily dark at first but they will fade by up to 30% I’m going back on Saturday for my free touch up its been 5 weeks since they were done they look great! There’s a couple of tiny bits missing so,I guess that’s why you get a touch up you may have to wait till after your chemo for that but they will be good enough to see you through it! Nikki glad you’ve got some relief at last! Sam, don’t know about the little man stabbing but I’ve got jogers nipple without the nipple!, bizarre! Welcome to bonnellie hope your results are good, everyone on here is brill and will help you through the rough times! Sam , I have a slow cooker and bulk cooking is so easy. I have made a combination of dishes , some my own recipes and others I have simply cheated and used cook in sauces.

OH and kids have never had any complaints about the jars  I just usually add a little extra to them.

I would"nt be without my slow cooker … great for cooking for alot of mouths. We are a family of 4 and I can easily make double lot in one go. 

Been busy making some soups for myself too, just incase Im unable to stomach our usual meals.

 

Had my assessment this afternoon, ready for friday and had a slight wobble on entry to the chemo unit.I got over whelmed with how many people of all ages and sex there was in one room and all the bleeping machines… had to have a little silent pep talk to myself to get a grip.

Pips not up till 30 September so not Friday unless you know something I don’t!!i haven that’d a look round the chemo room wasn’t offered don’t know if that’s a good thing or not! They just called me and said come at 2 on the 9th and I was taken by surprise and forgot to ask them any of the questions I had thought of doh! Don’t even know if OH can stay with me…blooming hope so! Good luck for Friday chick ill be thinking of you, try and report in so we know you’re ok even if its just that you’re home xxxxxxx

Sorry Barb , I must have read it wrong. 

 

Have you not been asked to go in for bloods and chat re- Se"s … given booklet with emergency contact info ect… card to carry on you at all times…cold capping option and info… the list is endless.

 

We didnt stay in the chemo room long , I think the look on my face told her alot about how I might be feeling and after a brief look around we went into a private room.

 

I would say… start to finish …the whole appointment lasted 1 and a half hours.

Nikki glad you can now put your arm down. It must be a relief, that was some amount they drew out!

Hi beamy, I see onc next Monday  so should start  the following week but apprently our unit only does chemo for BC on Monday and Wednesdays. So looks like the 101th or 12th for me. As for guilt- hmmmm tricky one-  My boys and step childrne who live with us are still exactly the same as they were before (lazy) but I do  get rather moany at times and then feel guilty for moaning!  However they are all going to be sat down when i have had my onc appointment and told what to expect. Selfishly this is to kick them up their backsides, if you saw the state of my kitchen this morning you would understand. They are going to be told if they cook they must clean up after themselves. They will also be told that there will be things in the house (drinks and biscuits) that  are for me only for if I feel nauseous. Otherwise they will just  eat and drink the lot- they are gannets!

I am totally p***ed off that I have got the flaming disease. I am a good person and do anything I can for  everyone I know so I think it is really unfair. 

The Laimon Chezza is on about is lovely, I got it from Tescos but waitrose sells it in cans.

JO43- think I will make some meals next week, I love homemade soup so that will definitely be on the cards for me. What time are you up for your treatment on Friday? I am meeting Kaz and  Angie from the Maisies at about 11 on Friday- we will toast you!!

Jo you are right and I am crap!! Pips is up on Friday with you…need to amend the list!! I didn’t get a chemo tour don’t know if that’s a good thing! Just 5 mins with the Onc signed the consent to be poisoned and got the side effects books, guess ill find the rest when I get there on the 9th eek! Apparently that laimon stuff is available at wait rose and larger tescos does anyone know if its a squash or fizzy? I asked the lovely Maisie’s about all the annabandanna stuff they bought, now they are losing their locks (bless them…us next!) which ones were actually the best and they thought they would wear! General consensus is soft hat for house and sleep hat and prob a beanie to go out in! Hope all you stars are ok today lets hope the girls getting their cocktails are ok and that Avonlady is alright after yesterday…WHERE ARE YOU GIRL?? Hope you’re safe and sound at home! XxxxBarbs

Just about to order from AnnaBandana and I can’t stop choosing. Already picked out sleep caps, fitted jersey and cotton scarves but I cannot decide. There are nine on my list so far. Do I really need this many. Not according to what the Maisie’s are telling us it would seem. Better stop looking otherwise I will have bought enough for all the Stars and spares besides!
It would seem the way we are all treated by the NHS varies quite a lot. My onc appt last week lasted about 25 minutes with the oncologist, I got a sneaky peek at the chemo unit, including where the treatment is carried out and I met the lady who helps you sort out your wig. All accompanied by a McMillan nurse. Everyone was really nice and helpful, answering even the most ridiculous of my questions. Btw Barbs my daughter is accompanying me during chemo so I guess your OH will be allowed in.
Pre chemo blood tests for me tomorrow. Plus an eye test which was booked before all this crap happened and then a trip to Ikea. Might as well enjoy the crowds while I still can!
Avonlady, hope you are doing ok.
Elma55. My chemo line is into vein in back of hand, at least I think that’s what they said. So much info in my head at the moment I am running out of brain space. God help me next week!

Hi stars,  

Laimon is fizzy but not overly. Nikki that’s me and you  with onc appointments on Monday. Elma I have begnin cysts on my liver too, they told me that these are usually picked up  when being scanned for other things and are harmless and surely hairless!!!

I am having a very lazy day today. Doing a jigsaw and watching TV. Want to start a hobby when having chemo  so am off to teh library tomorro wto see what  books i can find on art journalling.  Hope Avonlady reports back xx

ALso you can get  something called Gelclair for mouth ulcers when on chemo- if you go on their website you can order a free sample.

I’m finding some great (and cheap) headwear on ebay. If you search for ‘hijab bonnet’ you can find some really cheap caps in all sorts of styles. It seems they are a popular alternative for chemo hair loss as some even market them as “hijab or chemo bonnets”!
