Starting weekly tac, any side effects ?

Hi, Ive just struggled through 2 x FEC and it was so bad that my Onc has changed me to weekly Tac, has anyone had this or having this and can tell me what its like for them.

I have stage 2 lob and node involvement.

The tumour has shrunk on FEC but I cant do anyomre its makes me really sick.

xx

Hi Xena
Sorry to hear you had an awful time on FEC. I wasn’t too bad ok no Dec but had my first T 3 weeks ago and was really bad and was in bed for over a week. My oncologist has changed the rest of my treatment to weekly the same as you and I have my first one today so I will post back and let you know. The chemo nurse has said weekly is much better tolerated so fingers crossed for us. Chemo is really challenging isn’t it. I can’t wait for it to be over. When do you have your first weekly T?
Good luck
Claire

Hi Claire .
God yea Fec was awful . Sorry to hear you had bad time on T
Let’s be buddies as I start my week one today … also on herceptin are you?
What is your bc ?
Thank for reply
Zena x

Hi Zena
Good luck today. I had my first weekly yesterday at 3.30 and had IV piriton, steroids and an anti acid in my line before the chemo. Felt really nice and relaxed with the piriton and no problems with chemo. I have a PICC line not sure if you have one?
Anyway felt fine last night just tired and had small dinner and in bed by 9! Up and down in the night for the loo it’s all the fluid but feel fine this morning. Hope you read this before you go and let me know how you get on. Nurse said very rare to feel nauseous on weekly and I am a very sickly person was ill with both pregnancies so hope we both ok.
Keep in touch thinking of you today xx

Ps
My BC is ductal with lymph nodes involved. I had a mastectomy and immediate diep reconstruction. I am ER and PR positive HR2 positive and have had 2 Herceptin so far.
Xx

Hi claire and hey moijan ?
Wow we are bc twins nearly.
I have lobular though but all the same other wise … my chemo is pre op as lob is harder to get out as it’s spreads in thin tenticals …
It’s has shrunk on Fec so that’s good and they could only see on node very raised on the ultrasound Monday ?? I did have level 3 nodes so all on that side . Ct and bone clear apart from one niggle they want to check it n my rib ?
I also had my first tac / PAC yesterday at 4:15 … my blood pressure was 88/60 so they made me drink a pint of water and it came up to 108 … I had herceptin first then all that you had and yes I was tired too and in bed after a cheeky macs Donald’s on way home as it was 8 pm and starving ( that’s my excuse) then straight in the bed when I got home …
Ha and yep been up to loo 4 times … but telling myself it’s getting rid of poison so that’s ok ??
But I’m up now and that’s ok too as I also feel ok and not sick … not counting my chickens as I’ve been ok before and the it’s hot but I’m gonna take ondazatron ( yuck ) and stool softener and hope that that’s enough this time , also I got emend so maybe that’s strong enough for this seeker dose …
I had terrible sickness in my pregnancys and was put on iv drips In Hospital a few times …
how is your mx / recon doing are you happy with it ? I’m a bit worried about it tbh , scared of the scaring and life with no nodes and may be no boobs if gene test comes back positive.
How old are you ? Im 41 and my kids are 4/9/10 .
Nice to have a buddy through this xx

Bit of a rubbish message grammar wise sorry I’m a rubbish touch typer and I use predictable text so it desides more than I do what words are best ?

Hi Zena
Glad it went ok and you are feeling ok. I haven’t had any nausea or sickness and haven’t had to take any anti sickness either. I am relieved that I am not having those big doses of steroids and injections to boost blood cells as they made me feel lousy on top of the chemo. I am 47 and have 2 children 12 and 15. That is the hardest for me worrying about them and trying to protect them from all the worry and upset. They seem to be ok and are busy with their friends and do lots of sports. How are your kids coping Zena? I hope you have a lot of support. My mx and recon was ok it all felt a bit rushed as as soon as I got my results from biopsy it was have you thought about a reconstruction and which one do you want. I was just in shock and trying to make decisions was really hard and while I am glad it is done I wish I had had more time to think about it as it was big op and I was worried about delaying chemo. I had op end of Oct and started chemo on 14th of Dec. My surgeon was fantastic and the positive of having a diep is once it’s all healed and swelling has gone it’s just part of your body so no worries about rejection or infection as with some implants.
Try not to worry about all that now for me chemo is much harder and I am sure you will find the surgery part much easier to cope with. Don’t worry about grammar I just type away in my phone press send and then see it doesn’t make any sense.
My CT and bone scans were clear but I keep getting a highly pain in my ribs. So much to bleeding worry about! Anyway hope today is a good day for you. Keep in touch xxx

Meant to say great news that is has shrunk and only 1 node is raised. It makes all the horrible side effects worth it :relaxed:

Yes let’s hope our SEs are manageable … do you think we loose our eyebrows and eyelashes on weekly … that’s rubbish if we do as just manage the stares now ?, no wig yet so hats …
They seems ok but hard to tell ., maggie my 4 yr old days my hair had gone on holiday and that I’m poorly quiet a lot … she gets in my Bedto sleep and says she’s love me a lot too ( lovely but I feel she’s worried in her little way ) . Hub in spare room so we get some sleep .
Boys are ok and just getting on . Walter my 9 doesn’t like he seeing my bald head and dies ask about op . My eldest also asks about op . I think they are worried about me not having boobs and what that means … but I’m sure it will be ok once it’s done … so hard to tell isn’t it . Just hope they are ok and this is a small blip for us all and we can get back to normal crazy house ??
Il pick your brains then about op nearer the time if that’s ok …
But sounds like you did right thing as per infection and stuff .
Yes I think this worry over spread can consume us if we let it … but it’s good to get stuff checked. Although before bc I would just plod on in agony sometimes as to busy to think about me lol
Xx

Oh those words mixed up is annoying. Il use my laptop more as easier with my strange feelingfingers

Sorry quick question… how long till you were recovered from op ?
I want to book a canal boat holiday in August . Prob have op end of June first week July … do you think august 25 it long enough to recover ? It’ll be 7 weeks post op ?
I know we are all different but a rough idea of when your could fiction enough to be normal ish ?
Xx

Hi Zena
It depends what op you have I guess but as optimissy64 says you Def wouldn’t want to be doing the heavy pushing pulling or lifting. But if you can chill out and let others do that sure you would be fine. Are you having recon at same time? With the diep you have an abdominal wound too so anything strenuous is out for about 12 weeks post op. Hope you still feeling ok. I am a day ahead and do far so good. Bless your littlest one saying your hair has gone on holiday. Hope you can enjoy the weekend xx

All inclusive in morocco sounds a great idea ???xx

Hi Optimisey and Zena,

i know you were having a serious conversation about canal boat holidays…but you brought back memories of my one canal holiday,  i was alone with my partner on a large motor cruiser…the queen of hearts…anyway, he slowed down as if to moor up, I jumped ashore( unnoticed) with the mooring rope with the hook on the end, but he changed his mind and took off…I had to let go and then I heard him shouting  ‘where are you’?

i just thought it was so funny…

i wet my pants!

actually, previously to that day…when we started off…we went in with the tide to. Moor up and himself was very new at this…we made a bee line for a very posh private yacht…the crew were all standing alng the side waving their hands frantically…we managed to stop just in time, but after mooring up, we turned round and the yacht had gone( surprisingly!)

Yes Zena, with only two of us, we were both always working…no time to chat really.

Moijanxx

? so would I missy , funny moijan you are ??
I bet you do have fun watching … I’m gonna be conscious now when we do go and try to act like an old hand and not get off ummoored boats lol x
Yea even morroco maybe a stretch with airport and stuff gonnna have a rethink maybe …
Claire my hips are aching today a bit and my lower back , but only a bit … too m gonna rest today as rushed about all day yesterday feeling so good ,
How are you ? C

Sorry x not c

Funny to hear boating stories i prefer holidays on land unless there is a captain and crew involved!! I did enjoy a canal holiday but was pretty kids and involved lots of wine and not much work. Zena my knees are a bit achy and i too had a busy day rushing around and enjoying feeling normal ish. You can take ibuprofen or paracetamol if it gets too bad but hoping it won’t. On the 3 weekly doxataxol i had awful bone aches and taking high dose codeine was the only thing that eased it. Get your feet up and try and chill out. The have a rare thing an empty house…So just had a walk going to have a nap now! I can’t wait to book hols like you xx

Pre kids!

Hi both ,
So nice to have some holiday talk after all the treatment talk ?
Wine and messing about sounds wonderful, but yea prob pre-kids is more relaxed lol …
Going to have a think maybe a uk hol in nice hotel with an indoor pool for a few days this year … just thinking of bugs in morocco and my now expensive med insurance…
I’ve had a very nice day with no kids … eating a bit and sleeping on sofa ( bliss) .
My taste is normal and I’m feeling ok , the aches are really mild …
I hope you had good day ladies …
Nice to have an empty house and relax ?
Did you come of 3 weekly due to side effects ?
