Stop feeling guilty, small rant (BENCHLAND) (Part 1)

Hiya…FF…the symptoms you describe are exactly how I felt taking the Relon…after 2 weeks I cried at anything…couldn’t be bothered with anything and just felt generally sh**e!!!..had to go back to the chemist and explain…they gave me Wockhardt which I have been OK with…touch wood…Jane…love the mental carol…describes us to a tee…NannB…glad you got moved but still have moving envy…house still for sale but don’t want any viewers really until Xmas is over plus where we want to move to…nearer my eldest and grandchild…there’s nothing suitable at the moment in our price range!!..always complications…Revcat…glad you are feeling better…take it as easy as you can…I know it’s hard in your profession but you deserve a little R&R after that scare…JCJ…mince pie pls…I’ll bring my own cream…got tam belly so will have to diet after Xmas but for now…

JCJ is the picture of mince pies - it isn’t showing on my computer!!!
So glad thaat you are feeling better again Revcat - your knitted lambs look great. Sorry ~I missed the rehearsal earlier in the week I promise to attend the next one though and my mooing is almost perfect now.

How wonderful!!! Rehearsal for Act I was just GREAT, and I’m sure we will be able to keep to this standard.
I think the spider enjoyed his debut cos he’s realised that he has a starring role, and all the animals in the stable behaved beautifully - well except for Millie, who kept asking in piercing whisper ‘Tell me again, just WHY are you called Soddit?’
Mummy on Donkey - just about got the hang of things, so I think the Daddy may need to be a LITTLE more supportive, in both senses of the word. Landlord has most definately got the patter off to a fine art, so we don’t need to worry about difficult customers in the pub - they will be well sorted.
costumes and props looking good, glad manger and straw are nice and ready for Act II.
I think the carols may need a little more tweaking - only to get everyone singing the same words to the same tune you understand!!! Otherwise it can be a bit of a cats chorus and GARETH WILL NOT BE IMPRESSED.
Well done everyone!!!
My Assistants will be coming to next rehearsal, so could we have plenty of cake on hand for bribery purposes???
Next rehearsal - Wed, Act II, so we need shepherds and lambs as well as Act I people. We could perhaps incorporate stairs and ice if everyone gets in some practice over the weekend.

Pukey wants to know what the problem is with a cat’s chorus… Don’t worry Millie-Only-Dog, Pukey is a stage name too.

So, shepherd’s rehearsal on Wednesday… best get learning my lines pronto sharpish “look what is that I see in the sky?” and “A spider? A spider!”.

Flushing soldier chorus now back on track after a couple of days of confusion and disorientation in the week. Cheesecake topped with strawberreis delivered to the Lost Plottery desk in The Shed along with a h-u-g-e box od spoons for all who need them.

Very tired now - been playing catch-up since Wednesday’s unplanned extravanganza so a couple of ludicrously l-o-n-g days. Secretly quite pleased that I have the inner reserves now to do so. Oh dear, then feeling guilty for feeling healthy… quick, pour it into the lake…

Dame Grumpy and Mommy will be pleased to hear that I’m writing this from a motorway services–on my way to London for some drama lessons! Daddy may well steal the show, especially since I got plenty of ice skating practice the last couple of days in Manchester. I’ll be checking in as and when so expect me for practice next Wed.

Ps those mince pies lookDIVINE

Stairs and ice, oh dear me…I’ve been practising for for about an hour now and all I can say is that my backside is hurting. Pass me a mince pie and I’ll have another try…I will get it right eventually.

Will be baking bribery cake (it’s chocolate) ready for Wednesday.

Mince pies yummy yum…then choc cake on Wed can’t get much better !
Having plenty of practise here, pavements and road have been icy all day sooooooo have been skating all over the place such fun!!
Took GD to reading hour today, it was really lovely, lady super enthusiastic and children all enthralled…love the “childhood” bench, lady had bells on her boots please Dame Grumpy can we have bells too? just little ones. xx

Hello everybody! Bells on boots, oooh yes please! And, what scene are the camels in please? I’ve been practising my tap dancing, and getting all four feet onto the same escalator. Dame Grumpy will be very pleased with me

Glitterberry juice is interfering with accurate mental processes, and I have to be up early to visit God daughter’s christmas bazaar, so to bed, to bed.
Speak to you all tomorrow…
grumpy

Soddit can’t help feeling you must have protected Millie Only Dog while you were going through it. Soddit sat on my lap all day, every day (other than chemo days when he clearly smelt the poison)… and heard everything… everything…
Empathetic dog…

As for this thread - laughing out loud! Please can I have some of those mince pies? OH’s not made ours yet…
all four legs on one escalator!!! no - feet - not legs! SO clever!!!

Can’t wait for Wednesday… and the cakes!!! and the, er… “icing on the cakes” that Dame G is bringing…

off into the frost…

Anyone who wants bells can have bells!!! What with bells, glitter, escalators, camels, ice, bling, and all the rest of it, this panto is turning into an ah-maz-ing event!!! Shall we ask Craig OR Bruno OR both to come to Wed rehearsal to provide some choreography coaching???
Millie wants Soddit to know that Mammy didn’t have ‘poisons’ so that’s probably why there wasn’t lots of aggro. However she is still miffed that dogs were not allowed upstairs around the time Mammy went to the hospital - something to do with bugs and infections!!! Millie is most offended as she considers herself to be a very clean dog, and swims in the lake as often as permitted. Not in the current weather obviously…
PS she conveniently forgets her constant urge to roll in mud and fox poo… hence we have an Outside Tap with dog shampoo and big brush to hand.
PPS Millie would like some tips from Soddit on how to deal with the CSL scenario, apart from getting the glitterberry juice out of the fridge which is difficult with PAWS.

Yippeeeeeeeeeeeee!! Bells on our ice skates, thank you Dame Grumpy !
Have my own Winter Wonderland today, snowing quite heavily, forgotten how beautiful everything looks, don’t have to go out till much later soooooooo hopefully it will calm down!
Millie and glitterberry juice mmmmmmmmmmm Mammy will have to keep the glitterberry on the back doorstep so when Millie has a quick shower she can roll in the juice with her little nose straight to Mammy xx

Dear Millie… CSL scenario is VERY trying for us canines… it makes the ears hurt and is generally very disturbing. When the Alpha Female is wobbling, we feel unsafe. I have found it helps just to look at her with the biggest brown eyes I can manage and jump on to her lap and curl up. The body warmth seems to help calm her… and feeling loved seems to be the best medicine. I just couldn’t face it on poison days… Actually, I quite enjoyed last year, because being curled up on her lap is better than being alone in the house, and I got lots of fusses, so it was worth it. It’s good to woof with you at rehearsals. If there’s a cat around, can we chase it? Great fun, chasing cats! All that glitter is a bit undignified for a dog though… even if I am a sheep (what’s one of those anyway?) love Soddit <<woof, lick>>

Dear Dame Grumpy
How Am-Ay-ZING this is all going to be. I think you should ask Bruno - Craig might be a little critical of us! Bruno will appreciate the enthusiasm with which we’re throwing ourselves into the characterisation and how we’re “telling the story”… was up watching The Results at 4am this morning… sigh… at least Soddit kept me warm…

Sounds SO fabbbb Dahlings…

hi ho, hi ho, it’s off to work I go…

Wrong panto?

sorry!
Jane

Dearest Millie-Only-Dog and Soddit (and other canines in Benchland Dramatic Productions) you ask am I around and can you chase me. Yes, I, Pukey, am a round cat, I have the longest fluffiest coat you ever did see on a bog standard unbranded moggy. The licence for me is cheaper as I am black and white. I did not take up residence with my Human until after all poisoning, redesigning and nuking was done, but I have watched over her since then— the 4 a.m. obs are done every morning without fail! As for chasing me… well you can try but I am pretty swift for a ten year old and have a nifty south paw when any human needs keeping in check… Do you remember that coal fire advert of years and years ago where the dog, cat and mouse lay down together in front of a real fire? I think we should get the humans to make us a fire in Benchland where we can curl up together… after a good game of chase first, of course.

Dear Humans. Benchland Wonderland has arrived in Glasgow! All very pretty andhelpuing keep the flushes at bay a little more. Will practice my ice-skating later on when off to GP for check-up after last week’s scary scare. Can you skate up a hill? I will find out!!

Hugs to all who need them. Extra lacy hankies by the CSL bench.

PS Don’t get Craig he’s just too scary dah-lings. And we need to glue Bruno to the bench to stop him leaping about so much, it’ll antagonise the alligators… and WE DON’T WANT THAT!

Squirt the knitted rat (fawn one in my avatar!) says he’ll be happy to be part of the tableau in front of the Benchland fire if you need a ‘mouse-type animal’. He’s currently practising by curling up with Paulo the Polar Bear (Bird’s Eye freebie!) on top of the printer/scanner.

I’m on the smug-but-knackered bench having just done a mammoth Sainsbury’s(other supermarkets are available)shop. I usually shop every 3 weeks. Realised 3 weeks takes us to Christmas Eve - Sod that for a game of soldiers - marching/dancing/flushing or otherwise - so I did a 4 week shop instead, so I can sit back and be relieved (and smug) when everyone else is queueing and panic buying. Cunning or what? I just have to collect the ordered turkey and fresh fruit & veg, cream, cheese etc from the farm shop on Christmas Eve. Sorted

I decided that by the time I’d finished the shopping, after a day at school, it would be smack in the middle of the rush hour and that’s a nightmare around said supermarket, so I cunningly suggested OH meet me at the cafe for dinner. 2 birds-one stone. Rush hour avoided and I didn’t have to cook as well as put all the shopping away. Mwahhaha!

Just got to hide all the Christmas/New year nibbles and WINE now, before they get snaffled up!

JCJ that’s being super efficiently organised!!! I’m impressed with myself if I only have to nip in for forgotten bits once a week with a weekly shop too…mind you I have been getting bits as I’ve been going along and stashing them in mil’s freezer (humongous freezer, home to massive turkey, piece of gammon… Oh and still some of last year’s apples…)
Thank you for the bells on the skates, they are silvery and pretty
Is Nannabarb about ? I wondered how her friend in hospital was, I missed a couple of days on here and I just wondered if she was any better?

Great being organised JCJ, I just hate the shops when they are sooooooooo busy. hate standing in queues, hate people pushing and hate not being able to find what you want ! Have to buy 2 small Xmas presents, hopefully get one of them today and food is ordered pick up 23rd, only a few things needed for a top up for the day itself… !
No turkey for us, no-one in my family likes it!
Soooooooooo being superly duperly organised I have plenty of time to throw myself into the Panto, don’t have to come into Benchland to practise as I can slide around quite easily outside my flat, it’s great cause snow has kinda melted and left brick hard ice underneath so am becoming pretty skillful, should have mastered moves by Wed, bells def make all the difference as when I’m gliding over the ice people can hear me coming and run for cover, “tammy” tum exceeding itself, yep if I was younger could pass the test for looking pregnant so don’t need any cushion filling…off to face the town now grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr xx

I seem to have lost this thread for a while was so pleased to see it back as I have not yet worked out how to get back to it if there are no active posts :frowning: technology and me not exactly hand in glove hope everyone is well and have I missed the auditions ?
Hugs to everyone Angi xx

Hi Angi [waves] good to have you back - hope you have your ice skates with bells on, sparkly outfit, glitter, cardis/fleeces, singing/nonsinging voice.

Another one waiting for Mr Sainsbury to arrive with a lorry load of food - I am feeding ten students on Thursday evening… full Christmas Dinner for omnivores, veggies and vegans of various nationalities and oodles of dietary complications! Pukey is on standby to gobble the scraps. Roast dinner anyone…?

Just recently have been thinking how much has changed in the last two years… in 2010 I was a scaredy cat, fearing I was nearing my last Christmas (even with a primary dx). Now I am healthy, happy and writing nonsense on a website where other people are every bit as terrified as I was then… I found myself wondering what newbies make of our frivolity, and hope that it comes across helpfully, rather than seeming glib and annoying… need to hack a hole in the ice on the lake to ditch the ‘flippancy guilt’ I’ve been developing.

Big hugs to anyone who needs them, hankies and spoons… and solidarity with those in other parts of this crazy, crazy, crazy world.
