Stop feeling guilty, small rant (BENCHLAND) (Part 1)

Survey completed. Thanks RevCat. I’d never have noticed it!

Good that the news is good, but disturbing to think you may have to travel this path regularly. You need an alternative, methinks…

Hope back is improving…

Spent the morning on the beach in amazingly warm sunshine…then this afternoon I bought a pair of lace up ankle boots…so soft and comfortable… and PURPLE!!!

Hope you’re all doing ok…

xx

Hello All!
Revcat, I was post-menopausal when first diagnosed, so not that ‘up’ on pre-menopausal treament options! You have a lot to think about re. this problem with polyps, bleeding & Tamoxifen - surgical intervention/devices to stop polyps/change to different hormone therapies.  I do know a bit about AI’s though. I was on letrozole (Femara) for 3 years & now exemestane (Aromasin). AI’s are known to cause stiffness and aching in the joints, and they do! - made me feel like I had aged suddenly. They cause significant oestrogen suppression, hence the stiff joints, but the good news is that the symptoms are thought to relate to the drugs’ efficacy! I know that AI’s can be considered for pre-menopausal women in certain circumstances - I hope you have a good discussion with your team as to what would help you best.  JCJ, knitted elephant looks sweet;  I have started knitting my Santa finger puppets.  Purple Dr. Martens, Jane? :smileyhappy:

Quote of the day for anyone in need of a chuckle:

Teacher (me) to Y1 class (5 - 6 Yr olds) after our ICT lesson: What have we learnt today children? What have we been practising?

Forest of arms shoot up.

Me: Yes Elizabeth? (name changed)

Elizabeth:  If you want a capital letter, you have to press the sh*t key!

Me : (struggling to keep a straight face (the keys on the little netbooks are mostly sh*t!! :)) Well done Elizabeth, yes we use the shiFFFFFFt key!

Out of the mouths of babes eh?

I was in need of a chuckle and that certainly supplied it.  Thanks JCJ.

Revcat - I hope your Docs can sort something out for you.  There must be some alternative available to you.

Tonight I have been to Mark F E’s site, counting down the minutes to bid on some sheet music to replace some that I have lost  (my grandmother’s  copy of a very old song).  Several copies were available, most at extortionate prices, however one copy was advertised as being slightly torn and having foxing to the pages at only 99p.  I don’t think anyone else wanted it so I was sucessful:smileyhappy:  Being torn etc., it will also look like Grandmother’s copy!  So I’m on the happy bench.

Hope everyone is OK, rather quiet in Benchland lately.  Perhaps we’re all busy making our costumes for the Halloween Party!

Does anyone else suffer with sore boobies? it’s nearly 3 years since surgery, and they tell me it’s scar tissue and regenerating nerves, and to rub on ibuprofen gel if ithey get very sore. It is a sort of throbbing that pulses out from one area next to the sternum right round to the armpit. Any comments appreciated.

Will phone the helpline tomorrow methinks.

Snotty dog update - still snotty but less so, still sneezing and snortling.

Winter coats required now, and must get some new dogwalking boots to maintain dry feet…

grumpy ( and kna##ered due to excess of childcare - why does anyone have kids?)

Grumpy, yes, I have sore boob from time to time. Can last for days, for no apparent reason. Surgeon told me it was scar tissue and nerve damage and that it was very common for this sort of pain to be intermittent, but that they didn’t know why it  should be worse some times than others: I can go for weeks with no pain and then be really sore again.  It’s hard not to panic though, that the pains are indicative of something  scary happening again!!

(Sorry this is in italics, it won’t let me uncheck the ‘i’ box on my tablet!)

Well have been housebound since Mon, can walk around a little but pain is excruciating:smileysad:! Have had back spasms before but never anything lasting so long or so debilitating, am taking 22 painkillers daily so feel pretty groggy, every muscle has gone into spasm and no reflex in left leg, have improved cause I couldn’t walk at all so it will be a long slow process. Will be on the " feeling sorry for myself" bench for a while…

Have not read any posts so once I pick up will go backwards and check whats what, thinking of you all xx

Well, have  been working hard this afternoon, pruning back the bushes in front garden and pulling out all the brambles and stuff between them - my back is starting to feel the effects now. I will put some ‘deep heat’ spray on later. It is no way as bad as your back spasms Katy - has GP had a look at it? Get better soon!

Grumpy, I had weird throbbing, shooting pain that went across my chest & under arm the other day - only lasted a few seconds. Like JCJ said, after surgery we seem to get a variety of intermittent pains/soreness and I think it probably is nerves coming back to life!

It has been a bit quiet lately, FF.  Glad you got your grandmother’s song!  Reminded me straightaway of the songs my Grampa taught us when my sisters & I were small. One began ‘There was a man, he went mad, he jumped into a flour bag…’  and the stories he told us!  Well, we believed every word. We once asked how come he had two blackened front teeth; he told us it was due to swimming in Pearl Harbour in the war - he bumped into a Japanese battleship and sunk it!

Katyc, that sound s horrendous … Have you seen dr or osteopath? Ouchy ouch…

Being s tourist - what was it some of you called us? In Suffolk, boosting the economy here a little, lovely mean out last night, after a bread making workshop, which was good. Soda, bread for lunch today. Baked yesterday…

Loved the quote JCJ…
How is Snotty dog?

Windy (very) and wet (not too bad) making up for sunshine earlier in the week. Dog curled up on my lap…

Hope you’re all,doing ok…

J xx

'Happy birthday to me

Have a nice muggatea…’

Well, 61 today!!  My son bought me something I’ve always wanted - an astronomical telescope; he tried it out a couple of days ago and saw Jupiter and its Galilean moons.  Hope the cloud lifts by this evening so I can see it too!  My Mam and sister are visiting this afternoon and I’m going out tonight for a meal with my son & daughter.

Hope you are all OK.

Jen

A VERY Happy birthday Jen… SOUNDS LIKE THE PLANS ARE GOOD…ENJOY!

Happy birthday to Jen… do’t beleive you are 61 thoguh, sorry, not possible.  Enjoy your star gazing and have a wonderful day xx

Happy Birthday Jen!! Special cake is in the lost plottery shed. I didn’t put the candles on it. Health and safety wouldn’t let me! :stuck_out_tongue:

Shall we have a star gazing bench where we can take turns with Jen’s telescope? Be careful you don’t look through the wrong end…you might think you’ve REALLY lost it?!

My day didn’t pan out as expected. Didn’t get my afternoon away from the kids as a member of staff threw up at lunchtime and was sent home,  so I offered to cover her class (regretted the offer as soon as I opened my mouth, especially as it was ~THAT class!!..but there’s a few more brownie points/karma stocked in my favour??!)

On the kna**ered-but-trying-to-get-done-what-I-planned-to-do-this-afternoon bench. Fortunately there is a mugatea and a chunk of homemade (from homegrown) apple pie to hand to ‘assist’!

Hope the pain is easing, Katy? I thought of you when I was swimming and did some stretching to make you better (as if that’d work! But the thought was there. Wouldn’t it be great if others’ thoughts really could make us better, eh?)

Right: back to website updating. :frowning:

Happy Birthday Jen.  Hope you enjoy your visit and your meal out.

Music arrived this morning :smileyhappy: couldn’t believe it.  I only bought it Weds evening!  Postal service has excelled itself.  Will be spending a good part of this evening trying to play it.  I shall, of course, play all the right notes but not necessarily in the right order:smileytongue:

Hope you’re improving Katy.

Have a good weekend everyone.

Katy how are you feeling tonight?  You have had a rough old week and I hope you are soon feeling much better.  Remember that murder mystery jigsaw I bought at our flushing practice meet the other week…? Started it last night and a HUGE chunk of edge pieces are missing… grrr .  So that’s going to recycle not to a charity shop.   Why do people give broken things to charity shops?  At least it was money to a good cause.

Much cooler here today - but beautiful.  Last vestiges of sunset still in the sky (even if it’s been dark since around 6).

Off hiking tomorrow, harverst vegetable on Sunday then a quick trip to visit aged parent who has been quite unwell this week.  So won’t be around for a few days - but please don’t worry about me, I’m well.

Evening all… hope everyone is feeling better now, it has been a week and a half!!!

Anyhow, been out 3 evenings on the trot, and 2 more to come, so budge up on the Cream Crackered Bench so  I can get my fat ar#e on it.

Snotty Dog less snotty now, and snot is not yellow or pink anymore (sorry if you are eating…)

Bedtime now

grumpy

Happy Birthday Jen, hope you had a WONDERFUL day:smileyhappy:!!

If telescope comes into our vicinity we may spot an alien lifeform:smileyvery-happy:!

Jane you are really going for it with your purple boots and your party life style woo hoo to you:smileywink:!

Aaaaaaaaaaaaah RevCat how annoying, some people are just plain stupid, I’ve been lucky so far…hope all goes well with your visit and relative is better!

grumpy you are joining Jane on the “partygirl” bench:smileyhappy:!

What do you play FF? It’s fab when you buy something and it arrives next day, makes you all excited and happy!

JCJ apple pie, yum yum can we have lashings and lashings of cream too please???

Thank you for your kind wishes steadily improving, it’s a devil…can’t bend yet (have various devices to help), can walk a little further, soooooooooo annoyed with it all, bad thoughts yesterday, it’s amazing how IT pops into your head no matter how positive you are…doc says could be about a fortnight, see how things are by Mon…at least I’m back in Benchland:smileyhappy:!  Anyone spotted any marbles rolling freely around?? seem to have lost all of mine:smileywink:xx

Breaking News: Just had am email from High Street TV - Genie bra online supplier. They have a special offer at the moment: 3 pink Genie bras for just £14.99 INCLUDING postage and £1 from every pack sold goes to BCC  - which is the only reason I’m promoting them, (apart from the fact that I know some of you love them), as their advertising is mis-leading - they DO NOT suit every size and shape, or provide uplift for everyone! And they have still not refunded me for the ones I returned over a week ago!)

In other news: the ‘chicken fillet’ seems to help. I’ve got used to wearing it, and no longer even notice it’s there. My bra straps don’t ride up so much that side when the fillet is deployed, so they don’t dig in in all the wrong places! A definite improvement! :-)

Going to make chocolate courgette cake today, (sounds disgusting, never tried it before, but it’s supposed to be delicious - I’ll let you know!) and plum jam. Using up the allotment produce. :-)

It’s wet & cold here. You got snow yet, Katy?

Oooh! We posted simultaneously, Katy! Glad you’re better enough to be visiting Benchland.  I’ve installed a special orthopaedic bench close to the lost plottery shed for easy reach of lost marbles and CAKE/PIE etc!

I’m not surprised you’ve had dark thoughts -I’d have been terrified in your position - but that’ll only make it worse. Keep on getting better - we’ll have you back on those rhinestone bedecked skates in time for the *whispers* Christmas production rehearsals! :-)

Christmas production! What Christmas production??? No one has told me about it, and anyhow I do not ‘do’ Christmas until after Bonfire Night…

Been to a family do today, Diamond Wedding party, hotpot - with crust , mushy peas, beetroot AND red cabbage, a proper ooop North affair. Sitting on party bench with a glass now.

One more to go, then I can collapse!!!

Nightly night

Grumpy
