Firmly on the " why does this always happen to me?" bench. Yesterday I went to a well known outlet to buy a paper shredder and a DVD player . You know the one, fill in the numbers with a pencil, pay and then wait until your number is called and go to your collection point! Please bear in mind that this involves a round trip of 25 miles. DVD player no problem, paper shredder…first choice was out of stock so went with second choice. Got home DVD player no problem…paper shredder did not work so today another trip to return it. Did not want another one the same so went for a different make and paid slightly more. Got home and guess what?..it doesn’t ****** work!!! Will be returning it tomorrow and getting refund and going elsewhere. So…75 miles for a DVD player:smileymad:
Hope you don’t get the stomach bug JCJ. Eagerly awaiting the photos of your new kitchen. Great news about your sister, hope all goes well for her. Fingers crossed for you too.
Katy , sorry lynn has raised her ugly head again, yes, why does a couple of pieces of jigsaw lead to the loss of several hours? It happens to me too. Hope your ED keeping well.
Well that’s a journey and a half FF:smileyfrustrated:, how annoying! Jump on the “grrrrrrrrrr” bench beside me, hee hee, hopefully you will get a shredder that works today:smileyhappy:!
ED’s blood pressure a bit high, baby’s head is not engaged, he’s due in just over a week. Think he’s just too comfy, so at the moment playing the waiting game.
GDs birthday party on Sun, not her actual birthday but ED wanted to make sure she was there, so it’s pizza making, then eating this year, will be wearing my tiara on top of my birthday hat, hee hee xx
Phoned doc’s surgery from school this afternoon, as I was out of class and didn’t want to risk leaving it until after After School Club, in case I was delayed and they were shut.
My results are in and the doc wants to see me in 5 - 7 days (not 7 to14 this time! ) Receptionist said they had been trying to contact me! Appointment booked for 8:40am Wed. The first available with that doc.
I had a bit of a melt down in the staffroom. HT was lovely -tried to send me home. Another colleague said her mum went through exactly the same thing - even got referred to consultant, only to be told she had cysts and nothing needed to be done anout them. US scan person has already told me I have cysts, so hopefully that is all this is about?!
The reduced time for appointment COULD be that doc marked scan as urgent “to put my mind at ease”, so he may be hurrying results too?? (You can tell I’m trying hard to convince myself?! )
I got home to find the letter from surgery waiting - posted Wed, so that’s mighty quick? Scan was only last Fri!! Worry, worry, worry.
Another 4 days to wait - and who knows how long after that? WHY does it all take so long?! grrrr!
YD made me laugh tho’: she said there should be some sort of flag in my medical notes saying “please don’t scare the s**t out of this patient” So true?!
Hope everything goes OK for safe delivery of GS/GD soon, Katy.
Happy shredding, FF, when you eventually get one that works! I have a few ‘things’ you could shred - but they might make a bit of a mess.
Sending lots of positive vibes to you JCJ, the sooner Wed’s here the better, keep busy with your knitting and arranging your new kitchen, and taking pictures so we can see it? big hugs xx
stresshead, welcome to Benchland, all the very best to you too, big hugs xx
It is soooooooooooo cold here, heating been on for hours and teeth are still chattering, told ED about my “popeye” arm, she laughed and laughed, oh what fun we have together…
YD is going to give me a makeover, well, make up thingy “Mum this stuff covers everything” REALLY??? Will it fix my furry face?? mmmmmmmmmmmm xx
Almost finished picture. Taken, if you believe it, from almost the same place as the ‘before’ and ‘during’ photos. Sorry you have to lie down to view it the right way up - can’t figure out how to turn it round! - and it’s nothing to the contortions I had to go through to take the picture from almost inside the freezer (used to be an open bit of floor there: didn’t think about that when I took the before photo?!)
You are SO brave to stay at home while the kitchen was done. I left home when mine was done - well, I stayed in mate’s holiday flat and pretended I was on holiday…
Managing to distract myself quite well, this weekend, when, while I was playing Words With Friends (other scrabble-like apps are probably available) with my sister, up popped 7 letters which were ‘G’ and an exact anagram of the name of the GP I’m waiting to see!
Went for a walk, this morning, along the canal, in glorious sunshine, to a nearby Country Park. Saw this sign, laughed as I thought of you all, and purloined it to put beside the Lake of Guilt. Thought it might reinforce the “No Swimming” sign?!
(Sorry it’s sideways again this site doesn’t seem to like photos taken portrait on my phone!)
Like the new sign JCJ, isn’t it funny how everything is relative to results etc, when you are waiting??
Party went superbly well, all were excited they made their own pizzas, had unlimited salad, ice cream and juice on tap, took lots of photos and only realised I forgot to put in memory card sooooooooooooo how do you get photos from camera onto laptop??? Can’t remember, hope it’s easy haha!! xx
IT support hat on: Does your camera have a USB lead that lets you plug it into computer? If so, plug it in and follow any instructions that come up on screen. e.g. “open folder to view files”. Find your pics and drag them where you want them on your computer.
If not, put the memory card in and see if you can find how to move the photos from camera to card - may have to open each one and save it to card?
Can’t remember where I’ve put the cable grrrrrrrrr have hunted all over the place…so have just tried to transfer onto card, mmmmmmmmm says auto transfer, if I put the card in photos in camera disappear so no idea what I’m doing??? Oh dreary me, thank you JCJ for your helpxx
JCJ you are such a clever bunny:smileyhappy:, have done it, woo hoo!! Thank you soooooooooo much, any IT questions from now on will be directed to the “JCJ’s computer, camera etc fix it” bench!!!
Waiting, waiting, waiting! I hope this morning will be the end of the waiting (for now! Mammo on 6th March!) but I’m bracing myself for the possibility of yet another referral for yet more tests.
And the wait goes on. I read the CT scan report on doc’s screen. It said that there is “an area” that is “unlikely to be metastatic but this can be confirmed with an MRI scan”. So it’s looking positive, but I still don’t really know. Doc insisted that I go for MRI scan even though I tried to argue that I felt fine (and have had enough of inconclusive tests!!) He is marking it urgent, so it could be next week.
I asked about going to Norwich mon-wed and he said " Go. Enjoy the break. Phone the surgery on Tuesday to see if the scan date has come through." YD is going to take me to the coast for some sea therapy!
I am annoyed that I keep being bounced back to my GP instead of just being referred for next scan. Such a waste of everyone’s time! Also, Should have had MRI scan first??
More waiting JCJ? Just not right. Why on earth can’t they do the definitive tests first?? I expect it is a matter of cost. At least you can hang on to the “very unlikely” and also your blood test results being ok. Enjoy your break with your daughter, let the sea breeze blow away your troubles.
I now have a paper shredder that works and it is so much fun! Am slowly sorting through all the paperwork that needs to be shredded ( papers from my self employed days that had to be kept for seven years, two years worth of bank statements, bills etc., have I ever mentioned that I am a hoarder?):smileysad: It is quite cathartic seeing it all disappear into little tiny pieces.
Changing the subject, yes, I did get an appt. for THAT van. Don’t these people ever cross reference? Waiting now to see if hospital remembers I am due for an appt. and mammo in March. After last years mess up I will be chasing them if I’ve heard nothing by the 14th.
Fingers crossed for ED Katy, by coincidence one of my daughter’s friends is also due this week so waiting for news of her as well.
Favourite hotel (just round corner from YD’s flat. continental breakfast in room in nightie! ) booked for 2 nights in Norwich. Train tickets bought.
Cottage booked, near Cardigan, for 1st week of Easter hol. I suddenly thought S*D IT!! I’m not waiting any more. The medical appointments can fit around MY plans!! I need something to look forward to, other than the next lot of results!! The cottage was ridiculously cheap, so in the unlikely event that we can’t go, we’ll not lose that much. (Cancellation insurance would cost me more than the holiday in my current situation!!)
That’s the best attitude, JCJ, YOU are in control!
Very quiet today, have slept most of the afternoon:smileyhappy:!
Now up and about again and have to think of something for tea…can’t have a takeaway cause have had 2 this week??? Oh no how bad…off to sit on the “don’t care, try to sound convincing” bench haha.
