Oh T4T thank you! You made me laugh. :smileyvery-happy: And thank you too, KTC for thinking of me too.
I went in and smiled and joked with staff, was oober nice to the kids and made sure I did EVERYTHING to a level that couldn’t be critisised. Senior staff slightly cagey with me, so I’m wondering what’s been said to them. Some of the rest of the staff were surprised to see me - they thought I’d go off sick, but I’m not prepared to give anyone any more amunition against me!! Finally left after 5pm, having marked, and done various other jobs as soon as they were mentioned. It’s going to be a long six weeks, but I’m determined that they can’t say I haven’t done everything I was asked to the best of my ability! If it ends in capability procedures and demotion/dismissal then at least I’ll know there WAS an agenda!!
I sent a long email to an ex-colleague yesterday. I worked with her for years at a previous school, and she’s been a good friend since my BC dx. She is now retired, as is her husband, who I also know from staff 'do’s. He was a headteacher and then he supported failing schools, so he knows a thing or two about how things should be done! He read my email “with his Officer hat on” and they have asked me to go round, after school on Thursday, and take all the paperwork with me. I’m fairly sure he/they are going to be great allies to fight in my corner, because, unlike the big unions they actually KNOW what goes on in schools.
Watch this space…
In the meantime, I’ll commence my research for Norecambe Nuptials and the accompanying sales jingles: ♫Here comes the bride, dressed in camel hide♫ :smileylol:
That’s brilliant JCJ, armed and dangerous apres thurs, will be rooting for you. Sooooo helpful when someone knows the system, that will indeed give you a well needed confidence boost you go girl xx
Perhaps at 6 week meeting you can sing one of your tunes??? That would make them think??? In fact we could all come down and sing xx
Yaay! Brilliant that you have some knowledgable allies, JCJ And well done for turning up smiling and showing willing today when everyone thought you would go off sick. Don’t let the burgers grind you down!!
Just noticed (and snorted with laughter - NOT the correct response to a shooting on Silent Witness!) at your lyrics. You must have your tablet back and in working order if you can add musical notes :)) xxx
Tablet is back and working, ? but musical notes inserted using Alt 14 on desktop keyboard.
Currently watching Terry Wogan tribute on the One Show that I recorded earlier. That wonderful man was the background to my mornings for so many years, every day a smile or chuckle. His silent fireworks were a masterpiece (and inspiration for our Benchland ones) When I fist started driving to work I used to wish the journey was longer so I didn’t have to stop listening.
CAKE. Oh, grandson’s birthday cake. DIL has surpassed herself. A marble cake decorated with matchmakers, chocolate fingers, smarties, m&m’s, chocolate buttons, revels. and fruit pastilles 'cos they’re his favouite. It’s in the shed, enjoy it… but a small slice will suffice. I ate about three quarters of mine and then passed it on to son to finish.
So pleased that you have someone to advise you JCJ. You go girl, don’t let them get to you, we’re all behind you.
First rads session today, only 32 to go! Once we found a parking space by stalking people (and I really mean that) the rest was very smooth and efficient.
How was your day today, JCJ? Hope you have felt even better today, katyc and everyone else is alright
Hi tat
Glad your first rads went ok. Had my first chemo not fun but doable. Have a very sore hand and splitting headache but generally ok so far.
I think we could definitely work with a panto idea perhaps a new career for JCJ?
A thespian bench for all us drama queens.
Hugs
Jan x
I sneaked onto the Feb chemo thread having seen you’d posted there, Jan, and was delighted to see you were scoffing cheese on toast Really, really hope the next few days are OK for you
OH that’s classic, Ali! I love it when real life collides with Benchland! ?
Today wasn’t too bad. Most of my colleagues are really supportive. I will jump through all the hoops and be proud of myself for being professional. If I end up getting pushed out (current concensus, judging by previous events) then at least I am going to enjoy my last few weeks.
Public forum, so I won’t go into details but this am hugely stressful for all of us, but pm I taught a maths lesson & an RE lesson and it went really well (or at least I thought so, and no-one else was there to contradict me!) I didn’t leave school until after 5 again.
Thank you all for being so supportive. Yet again, I am grateful for this ‘silver lining’ of BC! I will write us a panto, with some toons, if I find myself at a loose end!
Thanks for the cake, FF. Nom nom nom!
I’m glad your treatments have started T4T & KJ - it brings the return to normality (really???!) just that little bit closer. Hang in there!
School sent me on a safeguarding children course today. 4-6pm… not the optimum time considering my hours of work! (3.30 - 6). My Senior Teacher said "just pop in and do the toilets and leave the rest " so that’s what I did. As I arrive at school as the children leave and I have little to do with them, I thought I would be bored out of my mind on this course. Wrong, very wrong! I was not bored, I learned a lot and by the end of the two hours I found I had a new respect for the teachers and TA’s and their responsibilities and their vulnerability to misinterpretation.
Have enjoyed another slice of Birthday cake tonight, this time with smarties!
Another panto JCJ? Not sure if I’ve recovered from the last one yet :smileyhappy:
Yay, to Ali’s Camels! (have they been secretly reading Benchland?)
Thank you for ALL the cake FF, yum, yum! Can eat it in Benchland haha! Glad you enjoyed your course.
JCJ, keep your head held up high, you’re worth it!!
tat number 2 today, we’ll countdown with you.
jan, think it depends on who puts in canula?? I also didn’t have chemo but noticed with lido that I had a thumping headache during and after treatment, until I was told to drink lots and lots of water, the difference is huge, check if it’s the same with chemo.
Ali’s camels, they will always be your camels ali, haha!!
A panto?? Another Summer Extravaganza, perhaps?
ED off to see flat today, she’s pretty excited, we all are, hopefully this is the one, will make lots of worries disappear…
Think I will have both grandchildren as GD was throwing up all over the place last night, honestly it’s such a terrible bug!!!:smileyfrustrated:
Was out shopping for a little while yesterday and nipped into PO, lady said you’re not looking too good, really??? Is it the pasty skin??? The hair that is hanging limply?? Or the screwed up face??? xx
Things looking up everso slightly at work. I was petrified I’d be observed with THAT class again today and exec HT was around as well! ? Supply teacher in this morning, so they’d be even worse than usual! I asked the teacher who is supposed to be mentoring me about what was going on - and gave her the sheets she has to fill in (she’d never been shown them, never mind given them - I suppose that would have been my fault, if they weren’t completed?) Anyway, no obs this pm, and when I said this to her she said “OH I popped in a few times and I wrote that you were well prepared (damn right! I missed lunch!), following the behaviour policy and when I came in all the children were doing their work” Atta girl! If she keeps that up they CAN’T start Capability Procedures!! The behaviour was still appalling but if I’m following the Behaviour Policy (always did. It doesn’t work!) then it can’t be my fault??!! Mwahahaha!
7 more get ups to half term! Had a hot cross bun today. Yummy!
Woo hoo JCJ, you show them, you’ll be even more “advised” after tonight!!!
Flat WAS perfect, so on the happy bench for ED, thank goodness, not too far from where she lives now, children will have their own rooms, will know officially next week but it’s basically done and dusted, another woo hoo moment!!
Also on the “feeling sooooooo much better” bench, whew!!
Chariot is not behaving:smileyfrustrated: must have been all that racing, am out for a while tomorrow so will see how it goes, may have to have a new one. Been searching and found one that folds, then folds again which would be superly handy for car boots etc.
Well, well, well Lynn has also decided to sit on and around my shoulder:smileyfrustrated:, how completely annoying is she??? xx
Pssssssssssssssst, where’s that very important chair??? Director extraordinaire Dame Grumpy will be seated and ready to commence xx
Forgot to say bumped into a lady today who as soon as she found out she had bc, remortgaged her house, went through chemo, rads then went on at least 5 holidays abroad a year, just did what she wanted, when she wanted, she was saying that’s her been “signed off” 5 years have passed and she looks fabulous xx She also said even if she had spent all her money, she had had great fun and no regrets whatsoever xx
Had my cuppa with friend and her husband and they agree that I seem to have been treated unfairly. They have given me lots of advice and he has offered to be my ‘friend’ if it comes to a time when I have to have scary meetings! There’s a particular reason, which I hadn’t known before, why that would be SO appropriate!! But for the moment, I’m just going to try to prove I’m more than capable by doing everything as well as I can and asking everyone for help/advice to show willing!! I have to phone HR to get some info, so that I may be able to put up a challenge to some of the paperwork!
I’m feeling a bit more confident that I can get through this.
KTC, if your chariot has been worn out in the races, can’t you “borrow” your mother’s, if she’s not going to use it??
Gareth? I’m sorry, I’m a one man woman :smileyhappy:but having imprisoned Gareth in my understairs cupboard twice now :smileyembarrassed: you will all have to hide my involvement for him to agree!! I’ll lie low and then pounce at the end!
Yay, You go JCJ, so glad that your friends have been… and will be… helpful to you.
Katy, glad that the flat was good, sorry that Lynn is being annoying.
Directors chair is in my conservatory Grumpy, will send it to you poste haste.
School has settled down to it’s usual state of cleanllness, which gives me time to do the little extra bits that keep it really clean, so I’m happy at the moment and really happy that half-term is looming and I can have three days off!
