Stop feeling guilty, small rant (BENCHLAND) (Part 1)

All sounds pretty good JCJ:smileyhappy:, you must feel sooooooo pleased.

Back on the “van” or not as the case maybe, they def won’t accept you because when I went I said I’m sure it was only 5/6 months since my last one, they phoned hos and it was over a year, another case of the missing marbles…

A kitty cat FF?,think of all the fun you will have:smileyhappy: you will need to send pics, glad you are now ok for sound.

GC safely back home, all went well, but did have to have a nap yesterday afternoon so was def fresh to play etc, GS was a little hot and coughed a few times, so he went to bed at 7pm and didn’t properly wake until 8am, poor wee boy.

Just had a phonecall from YD, she was on a boat today and was the sickest she has ever been, obviously runs in the family, no boat trips EVER…

And I do know where I’m going, I think??? xx

I’ve been to local Pet shop, looking at cat things. No, I WON’T be buying a harness and lead, you just don’t put a cat on a lead and take it for a walk. That’s just not right.  Have seen a litter of black kittens for sale but I don’t want a black one. I’ll be patient (not a trait I’m known for) and wait for the right little kitty to come along.   I can be a responsible pet owner…Hump and Dink defy anyone to keep them in order, they are impossible and I did manage to keep them out of the clutches of the police.

Talking of the police I got my speeding offence offer today. I sent back the form admitting I was driving so today a letter…take the National Speed Awareness course or pay £100 and get three points on my licence. I’ll take the course (of course!) within the next five months.  It will cost me something (don’t know what yet but I’ve heard around £40). Apparently I will have to look interested in learning how speeding can affect traffic and pedestrians and take part in proceedings. If not a good report of my enthusiasm I could still be fined. I will have to hone my acting skills :smileytongue:

Been helping eldest GD move into a new house today, taking stuff that she’s been storing at mine to her new place. Whew! I can now see carpet in my spare room.  Also babysat while other things moved. Thankful to get back home and enjoy the peace and quiet.

Welcome to Benchland, Rubycat! Glad we are keeping you entertained! I was wondering whether the rehoming places had kittens - but don’t know if there’s one near enough to you, FF.

On the CBA bench. Stripped bed. Done ironing. Will get roast dinner including a dessert to use up some of the massive heap of Bramley apples off our tree. CBA to do anything else but OH wants me to go with him to a garden centre to choose a tree to replace one that was too big and he has removed. Can’t trust him to choose something I like, but really CBA. So tired. Just had a bowl of cereal for lunch. That’s how much I CBA!!

Thank you Rubycat, loved your comment about you being a skivvy…I am well aware that I’m about to be owned by a cat! :smileyhappy:  I have had a look on the local rehoming and sanctuary sites but not a lot about at the moment (which is good!) except for brothers and/or sisters that they want to keep together and I don’t want two!

Others I’ve been offered, although they are all cute, have been black or black and white and I find I’ve got a yen for a little tabby.  I’ve had cats before, William, a ginger tom, died of old age at 18 and Missy, a tortoiseshell, I decided to rehome when we moved from a very rural location to a main street in town.  I felt it wasn’t fair to risk her life on busy streets that she wasn’t used to.  Cried buckets when the new owners took her but she’s now 12 and still roaming the fields so the right decision for her.

Family came over today so told them all of my decision to accept kitten as birthday pressie from Daughter, now I no longer live on main streets. Son pretended to be mightily miffed as he’s been trying to buy me a cat for many Xmas’s and I’ve always refused.

Eldest GD is being inundated with offers of free furniture, so far a three piece suite, a bed, a fridge freezer and a chest of drawers.  Just how lucky can she get?  All being gratefully received even if…shhh…pink is not her favouite colour but a throw over the sofa will sort that out!

Rained most of the day here so couldn’t hang out the washing and at 2pm I was shivering so shock, horror…I put the heating on!   I never do that before the end of September!  But I warmed up, the washing dried on the rads. and it’s now off and hopefully won’t have to go on again.  Does two hours count?

A tumble dryer would have cost the same? And I’d still be shivering?

Hello rubycat:smileyhappy:, welcome!

Did you get a tree, JCJ??

Did you buy kitty toys, FF??

Am off to “that mirror” place today, after my muggachoc, hair is like a mop on my head…

No heating on here, yet? Prob because of the non stop rain, grrrrrrrrrrr.

Toenail has now fallen off, just half of nail, it’s not been sore at all, just doesn’t look pretty, at least there is no chance of me wearing sandals so it can be hidden for months to come xx

No I didn’t get a tree CBA bench and Sunday dinner prep won. No, seriously, he went off for a walk instead, or I would have gone with him.

Torrential rain on and off today. Met Office warning of strong winds tomorrow! Glad I’m not in a tent.

I just cancelled my mammo, although she said I could still have it, as it will be just over 6 months. I can’t make the 9am appointment anyway, so I would have had to rearrange it. I’m now in a complete panic. What have I done? 6 months is too soon (after all, XRays  can CAUSE cancer!) But 3 years is too long to wait! Have I tempted fate? To think I nearly didn’t bother going 5 years ago! May have to phone again and say actually I’ve changed my mind, I can’t cope with the anxiety! :expressionless: 5 years on and I thought I’d stopped being that frightened little rabbit, but it seems I haven’t!

No, I didn’t buy any kitty toys, just had a good look at prices for the essentials, litter tray, litter, bed, bowls etc.  Not as expensive as I thought!  Of course, the expensive bit is the vaccinations and then castration/spaying although Daughter says that the Cats Protection League can help out with that cost. Then there’s pet insurance.

Some of youngest GD’s toys at my house that are now too young for her will make good cat toys with a little adaptation! :smileyhappy.

I have given your dilemma some thought JCJ, as in a way mine also, although I don’t expect my mammo until next February (yours seems early for some reason).  I’ve decided to have the mammos on the van every three years and a privately done one in between so I’ll be scanned every 18 months. If I were sat next to you in the King’s Arms with a half pint of Hobgoblin right now (and I wish I was!) I’d say…have this one…(one more x-ray after the 30,000 equivalent that we had in our radiation therapy isn’t going to hurt) then you’ll know you’re ok (and you will be) and then think about whether you can wait another three years or want to spend a little money.  We’re all frightened rabbits, we just don’t show it.  That’s my thoughts you don’t have to act on them, you do what feels right for you.

Some sort of evaluations going on at school so normal day has been disrupted and school tonight really clean and tidy.  Lovely, as it’s still clean from my holiday ministrations, job was easy tonight.

Would reschedule JCJ, an added reassurance, also helps put your mind at rest.

Good you have a plan FF.

How lucky was your GD, having all that free stuff, woo hoo:smileyhappy:

Oh my that mirror, looked as though I was 20 stone heavier than last time…mirror is def magnified cause could see a blemish without my glasses on, can’t usually see it, well that’s my story anyway!

Since I said it’s not too cold here, it’s been freezing, brrrrrrrrrrrrrr, was I tempting fate???

YD home tomorrow, not until pretty late though.

Muggachoc place was shut yesterday, WHAT??? so we had to go elsewhere, new place was better methinks xx

I may have a plan…but we all know what what Rabbie Burns said about plans.  Actually I didn’t, it’s only NOW when I googled the quote that I have found out it was Burns, all my life I have thought it was Shakespeare!  I am sitting on the total ignoramus bench.:smileyembarrassed: (I didn’t have to admit this!) However I quite like “Man plans…God laughs” too.  So I try not to make plans, just go with the flow!

I’ve been told of two male tabby kittens in a nearby town, available in three weeks, might have to go and have a look.  Daughter knows more details.

Youngest GD first day at pre-school today only an hour with Daughter still on the premises but all was good, so tomorrow… 3 hours with Daughter gone. GD will be fine.  Not so sure about Daughter.

Going to local City on Thursday.  I have some vouchers for the department store (well known for their underwear) that I need to spend before they go out of date.

Thanks for your support, as always, girls. Thank you for not telling me I’m neurotic! I will rebook the mammo at a time when I can go without taking time off work. I need to “get back on the horse” and visit that dreaded van sooner rather than later.

Had to teach this afternoon, covering for a colleague who had to go to the dentist to have her wisdom tooth removed! It was actually quite nice to be asked. People were appreciative and grateful now it’s not just expected of me! Yesterday afternoon, although very glad not to be battling with THAT class, like I had to every Monday last year, I was incredibly bored just supporting in the Y6 class. There’s no pleasing some people?!

It’s a good job you don’t live near me, FF (and also a shame): I chase cats out of our garden because they try to kill the wildlife, especially the birds that I spend a fortune on feeding! I wouldn’t hurt them, but I have been known to throw water at them! You wouldn’t want a soggy moggy?!

Scared the bejeez out of myself last night. I had knitted a snake (as you do?) and left it curled up on the footstool that I use as a sort of bedside table. My alarm clock has ridiculously large LED numbers that throw out a stupid amount of light. I awoke in the middle of the night and saw the snake illuminated by the clock. What the…!! Phew! You stupid woman! Puts snake away in draw. Retrieves marbles. Resuscitates heart.

Neurotic? No, just normal…and asked to take a class,  appreciated and thanked by your colleagues, your school life is looking up!   A bit bored…just remember that boredom is better than that awful class!  LOL at your snake story…just put the knitting away before you go to bed.

I don’t chase cats out of my garden and there are two that regularly find themselves a nice place to have a snooze, next doors Minnie and from across the car park there is Queenie, often found sunning themselves in my garden! I’ve never been bothered, but my own kitty will establish his/her territory I’m sure.

Been to eldest GD’s today for a look at her donated furniture and how she’s unpacked and sorted out her little house.  Wow! the furniture is practically new and house is looking good.

Youngest GD was at pre school for a whole 3 hours today so when we got to house she was fast asleep and stayed asleep for two hours.  Pre school obviously wore her out! :smileyhappy:

Tried to phone breast screening unit to rearrange mammo. Couldn’t get through so I went on the website to ask for another appointment. Should come in the post in the next few days. Hopefully it will be after 3:30pm, towards the end of October, as requested. Now I can try to forget about it for a while and stop stressing! Yeh. Right!?

Bought some delicious new biscuits when we were in Durham. Famous store (pants) own brand Jaffa cakes but with lemon and lime. Only just opened them because the biscuit barrel was full of choccy biscuits that we needed to eat first (such  a a chore? :p) They’re only small but oh my word! They are addictive!

Really glad you have rebooked JCJ:smileyhappy:!!

Hide snake but remember where it is, drawer open, arrrrrrgh, hee hee.

Yes a thank you goes a long way.

Brilliant GD’s house is looking good and aaah for the little one:smileyhappy:

Had to concede and put heating on, when it gets to teeth chattering stage, needs must.

It has been awful here, torrential rain again but this time was able to watch it from window, no venturing out, hurrah.

YD is going to have to stay overnight in other city, prices are horrendous, managed to get a reasonably priced place but think she will faint when she sees it:smileyfrustrated: as long as it’s clean…xx

ARRRGHHH! On the FF bench. It seems I haven’t rebooked mammo. :frowning: Got an email today saying the clinics I chose are not booking yet and would I call next week to see if they are open. WHAT? I picked the dates because I was forced to select 1st and 2nd choice from a given list! I added at the bottom: “Any day as long as it is after 3:30pm”. What a waste of time! I just emailed back requesting an appointment for ANY day in October, after 3:30pm. We’ll see what happens. May have to phone up (if I can get through) and get cross! :smileymad:

Been BRRRR cold at school today, but it’s almost too hot in our sunlounge, in the sun, now. Won’t be for long. Making the most of it with a mugatea and slice of apple cake.

Friday tomorrow!!

Oh wow!  Left FF bench. Now on the “That was quick!” bench. Email to say mammo booked for Monday 2nd October at 4:15, same van. 'Tis done! I will not panic…

I haven’t had a minute to post, I’ve got the new kitten, she’s a tabby and absolutely gorgous.  Her name is Purdie. And she’s now asleep. She was too scared to come out of her carrier at first but I made her and spent the evening trying to make friends…She’s just left her Mummy and her brothers and sisters and her name at the moment really should be scaredy cat.  She wouldn’t come anywhere near me at first and just kept trying to hide but I know she’s scared to bits. Such a new environment, I’ve encouraged her to play, She’s eaten, drank and used her litter tray so all good and eventually she fell asleep in my lap!  I’m exhausted! I’ve spent the evening crawling around the floor and rescuing her from danger,  Furniture has been rearranged  But happy!

Tomorrow I’m off to the Vets to register her and get appts. for her vaccinations.

Probably, no will be, up at sparrowfart tomorrow to check on her. Or even in the middle of the night if I hear a meow!

Glad you’ve got your appt JCJ Bit of a mix up, but you’ve got it sorted.

Aaaah FF, you are a mummy again:smileyhappy:!

How lovely, she will be keeping you busy…woo hoo for FF and Purdie:smileyhappy:!

JCJ, glad you are now sorted, that was quick even with the mix up.

Went down town yesterday instead of my usual Fri, now have GS on Fri, went along to Mum’s with her goodies and she was speaking about her bed feeling so hard so we put a duvet underneath her sheet to see if that would make a difference and I made her bed, came along the road home all ouchy, grrrrrrrrrr, just shows you just a small change in routine, grrrrrrrrrrr, so sitting with a hot water bottle on my back:smileyfrustrated:!

When in town I bumped into a lady I haven’t seen for ages, her face was etched in pain, she has secondaries felt so sad for her, puts mine into perspective.

Nice and warm this morning, no rain so far, turning a little chilly now brrrrrrrrr xx

Oh hec, why did I ever think this was a good idea?  I’m confining Purdie to one room and I only opened the door for two seconds but then I’m playing hunt the kitten…she could have been anywhere, upstairs down stairs,so many hiding places.  I’ve lost the kitten!!  I eventually spotted her and returned her to her room. Phew!  Now tonight she’s slept from six until eight, woke up to have some food and water and was asleep again by eight thirty.  Now she’ll be awake all night aaaagh!  AND I was up at five!  But she’s adorable and warm and fluffy, very funny when playing…and I’m in love!

Vets on Tuesday for a checkover and her first vaccinations.

School staying nicely reasonable so not too much hard work.  Have a good weekend girls.

She’s awake and I’m trying to stop her shredding the curtains!

Haha ha FF, she’s keeping you on your toes, what’s she like? ? xx
