Stop feeling guilty, small rant (BENCHLAND) (Part 1)

Glad you’re feeling better today, FF.

I had a stressful afternoon covering Y4/5 class. They’re so fussy! I am going to talk to the exec head next time she’s in to try and swap which afternoon I have them so that half the time is taken up with the visiting PE coaches, so I only have to teach (and prepare and mark)1 lesson, not two. After all, it was them who told me I wasn’t up to teaching??!

Swimming was much nicer tonight. Only 9 of us, at most, in the pool. Quiet and no dodging/zig zagging required. I’ve rounded the NE corner of Guernsey and am now on the homeward straight. Just under 5 miles left. I was sooo proud of myself afterwards, because I had enough self restraint to walk past the chippy on my way to the bank (needed cash so I thought I’d get it whilst in town for swimming as village ATM charges £1.99. *** that!!) However, I didn’t think I’d manage to go back past it without going in - it smelled delicious!- so I carried on around the block back to the car. Slightly further but I didn’t want to spoil tomorrow’s chippy treat!

Yeh! to a fixed oven and pizzas! You can eat healthier on Sunday, FF - just put more tomato on the pizza and maybe some 'shrooms. Hehehe.

YD told me of a silly game to play on phones/tablets. Write your biography using the words “I was born…” and then use the predictive text suggestions. Here’s mine:

I was born in the garden and I will be a good job I haven’t heard from you soon as possible and I will be in the garden with my camping chair. Hilarious!

What? No mention of benches?

“I was born in my life and I will be doing a lot. I haven’t been able and willing and I will be issued with a new one by one day course of action,”

Yep that sums me up hahahaha.

At least you’re born and bred in the garden JCJ:smileyhappy:

hahaha hee hee xx

“I was born in the garden and I will be a good job I applied for the last week before the end of the day on the reading bench”

Hahahaha! Genuinely it did come up with “bench” this time - but I was still born in the garden!  That explains a lot??!

I don’t have a phone or tablet to play the game but I can say with absolute truth that I was born in a Park!

Haven’t had the pizza today, tummy was just telling me that it probably wasn’t a good idea yet. My homemade french bread pizza has onions in it and tummy didn’t think onions were an option.  Maybe tomorrow?  But I cooked other favourite foods in the oven and thoroughly enjoyed lunch and dinner.

School was a nightmare, new teacher has had an idea for an art project.  End result looks really good on her computer.  She apologised profusely for the state of her room and offered to help me clean it up.  I spent most of my time (and overtime) in her classroom tonight, the rest of the school (apart from the toilets) has had a lick and a promise.  Her part in cleaning it up will come on Monday morning when she has to clean the tables again.

Apparently several of the children told her that FF would not be happy!  I find that amusing, that the children know what is an acceptable mess :smileyhappy:

Hope you tummy is back to normal, FF and you can enjoy your pizza.

Amazing children know acceptable standard and teacher doesn’t??

Had to read Park a few times cause I was like “she never told us that??” then I got it, woo hoo!!

Glad swimming went well JCJ and no trauma regarding 50 pences haha.

Have been guffawing with laughter at the predictive:smileyhappy:

Here’s todays one

“I was born in my journey and I have a weird scabby thing on my eyebrow and I will be doing a lot same way as the first time” hahaha xx

My predictive biography is still insisting I was born in the garden! Much the same as last time for the rest as well.

Dinner tonight is roast beef, Yorkshire pudding, roasties, roast parsnips (but not for FF!) sprouts (better get them cooking ready for the BIG day?! :P) creamed leeks and peas; followed by lemon tart (from S*******y’s) fresh raspberries (from OH’s allotment - some of them are a yellow variety which is just WRONG!) and frozen yogurt. It will be served at 6:30pm in the shed (but we’ll have ours at the dining table as usual!

Just hanging around the shed…half an hour to go…xx

Thanks for the dinner JCJ, somehow your virtual dinners are much more tasty than my own.  But then I am a lousy cook :smileysad:

Recovered from the digestive troubles and yesterday I thoroughly enjoyed the supermarket pizza!  Still just being cautious though and staying away from the onions and spices on the homemade variety, maybe next weekend.  Perhaps I’m learning to be more careful in my old age :smileytongue:

Thought I was going to have a quiet day in today, but then realised I needed cat litter so had to go out.  Returned home and then Son and family descended on me.  They usually tell me when they are coming but just turned up out of the blue today.  Not a problem, they’re always welcome. They ate all the bread and cheese (sandwiches all round) ate all the crisps, finished the biscuits and emptied the biscuit barrel dog in which I keep treats for the kids!  Now I need to go shopping!

Glad your tummy is better FF and you could eat JCJ’s Feast:smileyhappy:!

Oh gosh, we are sooooooooo cold up here and rain too yuck:smileyfrustrated:

Went to “posh” place today for muggachoc, they have put prices up, what??

It was slurpy lovely though…

We went into a shop nearby and managed to buy 13 cars for GS, you’ll never believe it but only cost £2, just pocket money toys as I always have a little surprise for him, still can’t believe it haha!!

Have to go out tomorrow am hoping for no rain, please xx

We had liver and onions and mash for dinner too! Haven’t had liver for aaages. They had some British (won’t buy New Zealand!) Lambs liver last time I did a supermarket shop. I cook it in orange juice. Sounds disgusting. Tastes yummy!

What millionaire’s shortbread? I don’t see any in the shed *wipes crumbs and chocolate smears from lips. Hastily tries to swallow last bit of evidence*  *chokes on crumbs*

Got to teach 2 afternoons this week! The 2 toughest classes. So much for “Nnnnno” wasn’t really given any choice, but I WILL be putting in a claim for the difference in pay. Didn’t last long? My suspicions were not unfounded?! :expressionless:

“I was born in the garden and I will be better for you both to enjoy the satisfaction of creating a new fashion week at the moment but I don’t know how to make sure you have any questions.” LOL

Really good one, clap clap, JCJ, went running as fast as my leggies could carry me to the shed…read ali’s son had made fat free millionaire, flapjappy things…where are they??? says moi?? Then I read your post…boo hoo!

Can ali’s son make more please? and can I please have time to get there? Am thinking booby trapping next time, big net that swallows you up into the trees perhaps? or FF wrangling?

You can have all the liver & onions you want…

Oh no, no NO, that’s not good, don’t let them take advantage of you.

Going up to see about Lynn tomorrow, am quite excited who would ever have thought? No it’s just I loathe the all in one, though top of arm does look a lot better, catch 22 methinks.

Today I did not have to run into town, hurrah, had lots of time to just wander, then up to Mum’s taking her tasty treats, she was all excited as she had forgotten I had said it will be Tues from now on.

ED’s blood tests next week, it’s been sooooooooooo long, worrying and wondering, looks like I will be on the “jittery” bench for weeks, you think they would DO something, maybe after these tests letter will come quicker from hospital, the waiting game…xx

“I was born on the phone and I have a good choice of seats and I am not sure if you are asleep” hahahaha xx

NO! JCJ, nip this in the bud!  Don’t let them take advantage of your good nature.  Just NO!  Don’t do it!

Did you really have ALL the millionaires shortbread and not leave any for us?  Well…really…

You cook lambs liver in orange juice?  How?  Please explain.  I usually just coat it in flour and fry it and find it yummy.

Hope you get a good answer for your Lynn tomorrow, Katy.

For five days tummy was fine, I started eating normally again.  Now it’s not so good again, something is upsetting my digestion…I just need to work out what it is…

School is ok but I am still trying to remove marks on the tables from the art project.  Teacher did not fulfill her promise to clean them on Monday morning :smileysad: Keep scrubbing, it’ll be fine by the end of the week.

riddled (why is this in italics?) with guilt about the millionaire’s shortbread so have put these in the shed, along with the rest of the lemon tart and some home-made made carrot cake with lemon cream cheese icing:

The liver recipe: fry onions, cut into rings, in a little oil. Remove from pan. Fry floured liver until almost cooked through. Return onions to pan and add a good slosh of fresh orange juice. Stir to scrape up all the flavoursome bits. Simmer until thickened. I add a teaspoonful of Bovril, but you could use a cube or other beef stock, or leave it out. Serve with mash and veg. It’s a lot nicer than it sounds!

Teaching wasn’t as stressful as expected this afternoon and both teachers are really appreciative and grateful that I’m covering their classes for them. It’s actually restored some of my shattered confidence in my abilities! And I will definitely be claiming the difference in pay for those 4 hours (about 4p probably)

Putting lots of treats near the jittery bench for you KTC, and plenty of tea, obviously. Hope you don’t have too much longer to wait for your ED to get some news/treatment.

FF, you haven’t got a gallstone have you? Intermittent digestive problems sound familiar. Or is it IBS? If it’s the former, fatty foods might be triggering symptoms. D-I-L sorted her IBS by temporarily avoiding lactose (dairy) unless she’d taken a lactase tablet). Just my amateur doc suggestions! If it carries on, go and see a real doc!

No more guilt JCJ, have sat in the shed all afternoon, munching everything in sight:smileyhappy:

Glad your class wasn’t too bad, as long as though they don’t get into the habit of saying can you help out with this and that?? The whole point was to lessen your stress levels, not heighten them. It is difficult when you are kinda cornered but remember you come first and “no” will come easier to you the more you say it…

Oh FF that’s not good, have you any new meds? Don’t let it go on too long, do as JCJ says and get to doc.

Lynn appt went well, today 1cm less, woo hoo!! Was well pleased. So horrid all in one was obviously working, am going to try sleeve and gauntlet again but this time it will be same make (the all in one) for sleeve and a different make for gauntlet, they will be slightly different in colour but that’s ok, especially in winter when all is hidden. She said not to leave it if this doesn’t work, contact after one week of wearing. I always try to persevere, she says don’t, which I am happy about too.

Both GC tomorrow so am having an early night, still very cold here xx

Had myself all geared up to talk to the head this week about swapping the day I cover the Y4/5 class every week, as planned. She’s not been in until today (she has 2 schools) and I was on the verge of knocking on her door when I just had a gut feeling that it wasn’t the best moment to catch her and I bottled out. Probably fortunate that I did as when she came out of her office a few minutes later she didn’t look best pleased. I was glad it wasn’t *me* that had caused that!!

Tomorrow night, I shan’t be swimming as an ex colleague, who left rather suddenly, has booked a table at a local pub and invited some of us to go for a meal. I was upset we didn’t get chance to say goodbye, so I really want to go. Disappointed that I’ll delay finishing the Guernsey swim, but I should still do it by Christmas, provided there aren’t too many other events scheduled for Thursdays!

I could have gone swimming tonight instead but I couldn’t summon the energy. So tired.

Hope the new sleeve/glove combo works, KTC. How refreshing to be told NOT to persevere but to be comfortable?! Good news that Lynn has receded slightly.

Waffled on and can’t remember what it was I was going to tell you. Seen any marbles anyone?

Been to see a real Dr. as the the pain in my tummy this morning just said " get to a Dr "…I took paracetamol and rang the surgery at 8 am. Got straight through (there’s a novelty!) and an appt was booked for 11.10 am.  By then the pain had gone but she listened to my symptoms, felt my tummy, took temperature and blood pressure etc. And it’s either a flare up of diverticulitis (but thats unlikely since I don’t have have a temp. and there’s no sickness and now no pain!) , could be a urine infection, sending a sample off tomorrow! Or could be just plain old trapped wind. That’s my guess.  No further pain today.

She gave me a plastic bag containing a sample bottle and some paperwork for the urine sample.  I just accepted it.

I’ve now read it and it is headed  "Chlamydia screening DIY kit (males).  I will, of course, be querying this at the surgery tomorrow. I am not male, I do not have have chlamydia!!  The other paperwork I need to return with my name and address etc. contains no mention of tests required, I assume the surgery will add the correct details before it is sent!.

Hope the new sleeve and gauntlet keep up the good work that the uncomfortable all in one started, and yes, I agree don’t persevere and put up with it, keep trying, something will work out.

Enjoy your meal out JCJ, always a good excuse not to go swimming in freezing cold waters off Guernsey.  If you don’t make it by Xmas, we’ll have something to celebrate in the New Year.

Remembered what it was I was going to tell you just as I was dropping off to sleep last night. Determined not to pick up tablet and type it but was wide awake then anyway! Grrrr!

We are having a “pyjamas for Pudsey” day tomorrow for Children in Need. All children and staff going to school in our pjs and taking slippers to wear (I had to buy some specially. Not going in my nightie! Would feel WAY too exposed - and I’d have to shave my legs! That’s not happening! It’s November!) Yesterday, we learned that we are having a visit, tomorrow, from the Local Education Authority - a mini inspection, if you will, to see how we’re getting along after our dire OFSTED. That’ll be fun?? Kids as high as kites and staff looking their least professional?!

Flopped on the tea and cake bench, recovering from vile afternoon covering Y6 (but at least their teacher gave them a *******ing about it!!) before going out again. May just peruse the pub menu online to see what I fancy.

Lovely day today, no pain ,no problems.  Went out with Daughter to local town for a look see.  Bought nothing, but Daughter got a few bits and pieces.

School clean amd reasonably tidy so no problems there.

Weather mild, a little drizzly, just as I like it. :smileyhappy:

We’re having a wear stripes or spots day tomorrow and a cake sale…I must get there early and take money…some of our mums are really good bakers!  I need cake…:smileyhappy:
