Stop feeling guilty, small rant (BENCHLAND) (Part 1)

FF, that reminds me of the famous “How to give the cat a pill” sketch that’s been on the internet for years. I think someone put it on Benchland years ago. Hilarious!

Laughter definitely the best medicine, KTC, as we alll know from our ridiculous antics on here!

I was proud of myself today. I managed the n… word. Teacher whose class I cover on a Thursday asked me what I wanted to teach them, now that their dance lessons, with visiting specialists, have finished. I, stupidly, said my strength was science. Today she handed me the term’s planning for science (lesson is tomorrow. I had library at break and lunch today, homework club after school and was busy in class and with groups all the rest of the day and tomorrow morning - leaving only tomorrow lunchtime to prepare) The first item on the first lesson was “give each group a tray of equipment to make a circuit”. When was I going to have the time to find out enough batteries, bulbs, wires etc for 30 children AND CHECK THEY WORK?!  So I said “no”. Amazing. That’s quite an achievement for me. Now landed with teaching RE instead but at least that won’t require so much preparation - (or be scrutinized quite so thoroughly as it’s not considered such an important part of the curriculum!)

I’m going to investigate whether I can get the teacher to swap the day she is out of class so that I can have them when they have the visiting PE teacher for half the afternoon. She’s not happy about that: “I like my PPA on a Thursday” but I think it’s a valid argument for me to make seeing as THEY told me I was **** at covering classes??! Getting quite Bolshy in my old age? :stuck_out_tongue:

How to give the cat a pill. Click the link.

Hilarious and so true.  That is why I didn’t try to give Purdie a pill but opted for the skin on the back of the neck treatment.  I must say though that my first ever cat, William, if I held out a pill on my hand he would just swallow it down as a treat. No problem!

JCJ, I am so proud of you!  Learning and using the n… word. Way to go, girl!  Get Bolshy, why not?  I’ve found it works well.

Found some pipe cleaners in the rubbish bins at school tonight, thought Purdie would like them, brought them home, twisted them together and she’s played happily with them for an hour or so.

Off out tomorrow to local garden centre.  Daughter’s Birthday present, lunch out and bulbs for her garden. She had two options, that’s what she chose and I’m delighted as it’s a day out and a lunch for me too!

The other option could be her Xmas pressie. Now it’s November are we allowed to mention Xmas?

Hee hee:smileyhappy:!

Woo hoo JCJ you did it, it will get easier and easier, especially with all the work you were expected to do???

Bet you are soooooooo glad the “n” work is now in your vocabulary, use it:smileyhappy:

FF hope you had a lovely time with daughter and had some yummy things to eat.

Had GS yesterday, he was so grumpy, nursery 2 days in a row and not enough nap time, today he was his normal self hoorah, found a plastic spider and he was hiding it all over the house, he threw it in to YD’s room and we couldn’t find it anywhere…she is petrified of spiders… not good…

ED looks a little better this week even though she is superly busy, can’t stop thinking about it all, trying hard but it’s not working. 2 weeks until next set of bloods.

It is sooooooooooo cold here, we have had lots of sunshine but there is no warmth, heating on high most of the day, brrrrrrrrrrrrrr xx

I did have a lovely time with Daughter and we had yummy fish, chips and peas followed by a sticky ginger cake.  Bought her the bulbs she wanted and a Peter Rabbit calender for next year and think I got off quite lightly on the monetary front.  Didn’t spend as much as I might have done!  Will make up for that at Xmas I’m sure.

Katy - your YD will find that spider within seconds and her screams may be heard down here!  If ED is looking better then she IS better.  Keep busy, stay strong, whatever happens there’s treatment.

It’s not particularly cold here but it is certainly autumnal and my heating is not behaving itself. The thermostat thingy is not working properly so I’m turning it on/off at the boiler.  Calling the plumber is on my to do list.

Tonight coming home from school I ran into thick fog.  Country lanes doing about 35mph and all of a sudden I couldn’t see the road , brake!  Ok, creep along at 15 mph just follow the left hand hedge.  I know the way home like the back of my hand but when it’s foggy it’s disorientating. Dropped down the hill into town and no fog at all.

Mmmmmmm! Fish, chips and peas! That’s what’s on my agenda for tonight. Friday. Weehoo! One week down, seven to go.

It was extremely busy last night at swimming - don’t know why everyone has suddenly descended on “Guernsey”. Usually expect those kind of numbers at the start of January - all those short-lived New Year’s resolutions. At one point I accidentally kicked someone really hard. I don’t know what I made contact with but it was a full on kick that hurt my  foot! The pool was starting to empty out a bit and get less congested, so I kicked out to make up some time, not knowing she was right behind me. I apologised immediately, of course. She said she was OK, but I felt awful. She got out of the pool shortly afterwards so I hope she really was OK! 6 miles left.

I agree with FF, if ED looks better she probably is! I hope the next lot of blood tests prove it! xx

When do you break up JCJ?  I’m one week down and six to go.  We break up on the 15th Dec, which is the earliest I’ve known.  Stop feeling awful, the lady in the pool shouldn’t have been so near your feet! :smileytongue:

Purdie has developed a fixation about the kitchen sink.  Now seems to prefer to drink from a cup full of water in the sink.  I can live with that, she’s now got her own cup!   If I want to know where she is I just turn on the tap and she is right there. Leave it dripping and she’s entertained for ages.

We don’t break up until 22nd - the latest I’ve known. Just the weekend to get ready for the big day! Then we go back for a training day on Fri 5th Jan so we don’t even get two full weeks. Grrrr! We get the extra day back at Easter because we break up on Maundy Thursday and have the Friday then 2 full weeks, but that doesn’t really compensate.

I was so hungry coming back from the chippy that I didn’t stop after the couple of chips I usually nibble on whilst walking home. Let’s just say that by the time I got home there was less than a quarter of my “mini fish special” left! Oops! Will probably have chronic indigestion, but I did enjoy them, walking and looking at the gorgeous full moon peeping out amongst the clouds. And food has less calories if you eat it standing up?

Flippin’ kitten is walking all over the keyboard.  Have had to edit and delete all sorts.  We are back to school on the 2nd Jan so there’s the difference.

Flippin’ kitten…hence the strange previous post.  I give up…

Hahahahaha, where have all the chips gone JCJ???

FF, you are just using the invisible stuff again?

Run tap, when posting:smileyhappy:

Am on the “sitting with a halo above my head” bench, have cleaned half house windows, hoovered, dusted down skirting boards and doors, taken down GS’s highchair managed to stuff it in cupboard (has been used as toy storage for months cause he’s a big boy now), washing on, floors mopped, whew, am exhausted now, haha.

Have also purchased ALL X*** gifts (only sweets to buy), ordered X*** dinner, X*** crackers also ordered.

Lalalalalala am soooooooooo good, hee hee!!

Have two problems now, should I purchase a trunk/storage thing for GS’s toys? it could sit at end of sofa, am not a fan of clutter, toys are in storage things kinda hidden behind sofa at the moment, just can’t make up my mind…

Next problem, am meeting Revcat and I have to try and figure out how will I manage a camel on the train?

Should I ride **bleep** to another city? Quandary indeed.

ED did not look good yesterday, so will not say that again:smileysad: xx

Just reading post back have noticed there is a “bleep” hahahaha, can you figure it out??? xx

So very very tired today. Struggled to get out of bed. Then struggled to get off the CBA bench to do the usual Sunday morning bed stripping and ironing. I think reading about all your superwoman antics has exhausted me, Katy!! Or it could be that lots of the kids at school are going down with the usual Autumn Term stomach bug, so maybe my system is fighting that off? Or maybe it’s just end-of-first-week-and-still-seven-weeks-to-go-itis?

Sunny day today so I’m trying to rally the energy and enthusiasm to go for a walk. I really enjoyed last week’s walk - once I made the super human effort to go!

Dinner is baked ham, roasties, cheesy leeks, smashed roots and broccoli followed by chocolate pudding and ice cream. All welcome.

“Run tap when posting”.  Why didn’t I think of that?  And as Her Royal Furriness has just appeared beside the keyboard I might just do that. I thought she was safely asleep on the sofa but the noise of the keyboard has attracted her.

Yesterday she managed to put the laptop into aeroplane mode and I had no internet connection!  Ranted and raved and then noticed and was able to connect again.

Son came over today and sanded the top of the bedroom door so that it will now shut and keep inquisitive kittens out!

Purdie not too fussed about the loud banging noises outside (fireworks)  just sat up and perked her ears.  I just stroked her and told her it was ok and she settled down again.  Daughters dog goes absolutely mad, glad I didn’t have to cope with anything like that.

On my way for dinner!

Had a lovely lunch with Revcat, albeit a camel was sitting on the table, you really can’t take them anywhere:smileywink: She went home with Revcat whew, cause journey was difficult enough on the way there, train was very full and she wanted to sit beside me…really don’t know how you managed 3 JCJ!!

Went into town, chemist, post office and other odds and ends sorted, Mum has her treats, woo hoo!

GS for rest of the week, then back to normal, 2 days instead of 3 but children are OFF school again soon, they only went back, geez…and they complain about children’s education??? My bug bear:smileyfrustrated:

Have made appt about Lynn am not managing with the one that goes under bra, have persevered but it’s just not comfortable, thing is the material is brilliant really tight, am sure this company does not make sleeve and glove just the all in one, we’ll see.

Bed early tonight me thinks xx

Glad you managed the camel on the journey and that she is safely delivered to Revcat. My camel sits on the dressing table and rearranges things regularly.  You just can’t trust these camels!  Hope your appt about Lynn resolves things Katy.  Keep trying.  Something will work.

Just a little bit under the weather down here.  Digestive troubles. Usual remedies not working as fast as they normally do.  May have to visit the Drs. if it doesn’t clear up soon. Not bad enough to keep me from working though. Just not 100%.

Talking of weather, cold, frosty, ice on the car windscreen in the morning.  Don’t like it and how many months of it to look forward to?  Rain though, I like rain and it’s done quite a lot of it lately.

I had 3 camels creating havoc in my house for several months, never mind the nightmare of travelling by train with them!!

I hope you can tame Lynn, KTC. There must be something out there that can help without causing you so much discomfort.

Dosee your doc if your tummy problems don’t clear up soon, FF, but there do seem to be a lot of bugs going around at the moment, as is usual for this time of year. Are you on any new meds that could be upsetting your digestion?

Had to clear ice of my car twice already this week. It was really pretty this morning - all feathery patterns - but that didn’t make it much less annoying to have to scrape it off (though I did cheat and use warm water while it’s not yet cold enough for it to refreeze!)

Completely forgot that they were at home with you, really don’t know how you managed JCJ:smileyhappy:/:smileyfrustrated:

Hope you are a little better today FF, there are lots of bugs doing the rounds at the moment…

Am teeth chatteringly freezing here that’s with heating on, radiators are toasty but I’m not, brrrrrrrrrrrr.

Was saying that to RC that since stopping ta"poxy"fen (apart from the 9 months of funny flushes afterwards) am back to my favourite saying “I’m freezing” actually forgot what life was like prior to haha.

GS and myself went to supermarket this morning, he was very well behaved, there was a huge Xmas Tree and he was staring at it superly happy, reindeers and snowflakes hanging from the ceiling, kept him amused for ages.

ED doesn’t have her blood tests next week it’s the following then another wait for results, no word from hospital at all.

Away to sit on the radiators xx

I am much better today, normal service has been resumed :smileyhappy:  Not a bug, knew what was the matter but the usual over the counter remedy didn’t work as fast as it usually does!  All ok now!

Oh, look out Purdie on her way, run tap!

Got my oven sorted out today, phoned an appliance fixer yesterday, he came today, diagnosed the problem, had the part in his van and fitted it.  £27.95 for the part.  £49.50 for the labour.  He was in my house for 20 minutes!  YES, 20 MINUTES!!   £49.50 for 20 minutes!  But my oven is now working again so I’ll have to get over it.  Cheaper than a new oven…I will get over it!  AND… I will be able to have pizza again :smileyvery-happy:  Tomorrow I will have homemade french bread pizza, bought the ingredients tonight and a frozen stuffed crust one for Saturday :smileyembarrassed:

Sunday I will revert to healthy eating, promise :smileyhappy:

Frosty mornings down here but not needing to sit on the radiators yet.
