Stop feeling guilty, small rant (BENCHLAND) (Part 1)

Dinner was delicious yum!
In reality mine was yuck…
Purdie off on holiday too? Is there a place near you?
Lovely to receive JCJ .
Had a phone call from docs which I missed of course phoned reception back and she said doctor wanted to have a chat they sent pic to dermatology will speak when I get back so am thinking it’s not the “C” word because they would have just arranged an appointment so a woo hoo methinks.
Weather is fabulous oh so hot have been hiding in the shade… we found a lovely restaurant honestly would eat there every night haha. Greek night at hotel tonight. You will never believe it hump and dink were here yesterday they were hiding in a door way I ran in opposite direction yikes xx

Another swim done. Had the fast lane to myself tonight. No dodging or weaving required. I’ve only got 57 lengths left in “the loch” so I’ll be arriving at the Sea Life Loch Lomond Aquarium between 8:30 and 9:00 pm next Thursday (28th). Paaaaarty!

Training day at school tomorrow. All senior teachers out at a conference and no kids in sight! We’ve been left a huge list of jobs to do but if we crack on we should get away early. While the cats are away…?!

I have been looking online at local catteries.  Picked out two, one with a website with lovely photos and encouraging blurb and lots of good reviews and make an appt to view.  Other one with a basic website, basic photos and just two good reviews.  But an awful lot nearer home.  So today Daughter and I went to see the nearer cattery.

Website said call in anytime, no appt. necessary so we rolled up at 9.45 am. unannounced.

Met the lady of the establishment in the garden playing with some of her own cats. She and her husband then showed us around.

I was impressed, the place was spotless and more than adequate. Each cat abode has two spaces, one to run around in and one to be quieter/sleep in.  Not new, it’s a wooden construction and obviously been there some time but well maintained.  They had about 10 cats boarding and they all looked happy.  I said that Purdie was timid and prone to stress cystitis and she had all the right questions and answers for that and  told me about zyklene and urinary biscuits which I’d never heard of but after coming home and googling are very good ideas.

I said August, she said oooh… but got her book out ( I could see it was nearly fully booked) but there was space for Purdie so I’ve booked her in. We left and I asked Daughter what she thought and she was also impressed with the cleanliness (not even a whiff of cat) liked the people and we both loved the fact that their own 12 cats who were roaming about looked so happy and healthy.I

So I think I’ve got a good place for Purdies holiday.

Spoilt rotten indeed Ali haha
Glad you will be sorted for purdie FF puts your mind at rest sounds perfect.
Weather here has been in the 30s since we arrived so hide during the day with spells of aquatic skill perfomanes xx

Perfomanes? ??? New skills…xx

Aquatic skill performanes?? Are they cleverly made water-based Spanish cocktails? Hehehe  Hic!

Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear! So embarrassed! I was just sitting in my nightie and dressing gown (even though it’s nearly midday!) in my back garden enjoying a coffee, my kindle and knitting an elephant, thinking to myself how nice it was to be able to do this as the only people who could see me would be the immediate neighbours - and only if they deliberately leant out of their windows. Suddenly, the gate opened and in marches the window cleaner with his ladder! I leapt about 3ft in the air in shock. I’m in full view as he comes along the path at the side of the house towards me and procedes to shut the door into the house and start cleaning the sunlounge windows thus blocking my escape route; all the while chatting cheerily to me! Nothing for it but to brazen it out! We discuss my knitting.

I am horribly aware that OH is in the bedroom, probably starkers, and I can see the windows are shut but the curtains half open!! How to warn him? If I go around to the front door I have to pass the other window cleaner who’s doing the front windows and advertise my state of undress to the whole neighborhood!

Luckily window cleaner 2 comes around to the back: another smirk and cheery “Hello!” and I make a dash for it, around the front of the house (thank goodness I unlocked the front door just now!!) and upstairs to warn OH "“ON A SATURDAY??!!” and shut the curtains just as window cleaner 1 positions his ladder and starts his ascent. Phew!

I’m now dressed! As is OH. And slightly traumatised! :smileyembarrassed:

Am in Greece no spanish cocktails here hahaha!
What are you two like? Love the brazeness naked and nearly naked…
Am just lounging around getting ready for dinner soon an Italian restaurant in Greece mmmm maybe there are Spanish drinks here after all xx

Today is the Pink Walk, and the dogs will be wearing their pink neckerchiefs…

I’ll post a photo later.

And we get a cream tea afterwards!!!

Grumpy

You’ve got fab weather for the walk, grumpy (if it’s like it is here, and forecast to be there). Hope it’s not too hot - or it’ll be a pink walk for other reasons?!  Enjoy.

Dinner tonight: roast beef, Yorkshire pudding, roasties, braised root vegetables, cabbage, peas and gravy followed by home made (and home grown!) Bramley apple crumble and custard.

Twanged my back this morning twisting and bending to get the secateurs out of the cupboard. :frowning: Been very ouchy all day. Awful timing because I’ve got a long day tomorrow: Mondays are usually pretty full on anyway and tomorrow I have an observation thrown in as well. Writing. In Y6. After all their assessments have been completed and in the midst of preparation for high school and rehearsals for the leavers’ play!! That’s not a recipe for success?! :expressionless:

Also, meeting friends/ex colleagues, in the evening, for a meal. Ho hum. Keep taking the ibuprofen?! (Other anti inflammatories …)

The girls are camping in the Lake District for a week. They arrived tonight after a stop off in Cambridge to see Sarah Milligan last night. The campsite looks incredible and there’s hardly anyone there because it’s school term time. I’m very envious! (Or maybe not with the current state of my back??! But then again, who am I to complain - D-I-L has two 2 damaged discs in her spine!!)

Dinner fab as always!!
Hope your back is better today nothing worse.
Hope all went well for your walk grumpy and family.

Last full day today been a lovely lazy holiday…xx

Glad you have had a lovely holiday, Katy. Back to reality tomorrow?

Back still spasming occasionally but it is improving slowly. Managed to do the supermarket shop after school tonight but had to get OH to do all the lifting and carrying. I also let him put the fridge stuff away. Big mistake. Realised why I always banish him from the putting away process. Had to get everything back out of the fridge to separate the cooked and raw meat and find room for several things that he just left on the side (including raw fresh salmon! ?) It would have been less strain on my back to have just done the job myself in the first place!!

Feedback from my observed writing session was good! Amazing considering I was in pain and more-or-less made it up on the spot because the teacher had already done, in the lesson before, what I planned to do with that group!!  “Good relationship with children and high expectations of behaviour” Ha! So much for all the sh** thrown at me last year?!

We’re a right bunch in the  KS2 end of our school: Y6 teacher still looking grey after her food poisoning, I’m hobbling around looking like I’ve s**t myself and Y4/5 teacher is on crutches because she’s strained her Achilles tendon whilst attempting to follow a fitness video (oh the irony?! Serve her right? :p)

PS meal with friends last night was good, but shock horror! Steak Night is no longer under a fiver - it’s £7.45 now for beautifully cooked - exactly as requested- 8oz rump steak, a HUGE mushroom, a grilled tomato, chips and peas. Still a bargain and they happily replaced the peas with a lovely salad bowl at no extra cost. Yum.

REALLY?  £7.45 for a steak dinner?  You want to come down here to the land of “lets fleece the tourists”  That would be at least twice that price down here.  Us locals carry our Council tax letters on us to prove we’re local so we get a discount, but it’s still not that cheap.

SIL and DIL are always sent to get chips/ice cream or whatever as they have local accents.

Glad your back is improving and that the observation went well.

School lovely and tidy tonight as kids at the other end of the village having sports day.  Tidied up then had loads of time to do extra jobs which will make the next few weeks easier. Win, win!

I made it! Arrived at the Loch Lomnd Sea Life Centre with my flashing light tiara and psychedelic swimsuit and thoroughly startled the fish! Haggis and neeps all round!

Back much better but I had to take the swim gently, especially the turns at the end of each length - still can’t twist without ouchy ouch!

The beautiful weather continues but I bet it’ll be over in 3 weeks when we break up! I’ve been thinking about that hot tub at our holiday cottage: if it’s still this hot we may use it as a cold tub!!

Woo hoo JCJ!! You did it even with a sore back! Well done:smileyhappy:

What did you think of the “Greek Dancing”?? Wanted to make your final few strokes in the loch, a little different…sorry I gave you a fright continuously shouting “Opa”.

Was soooooooooo tired yesterday and didn’t really sleep well last night grrrrrrrrrrr, am going to supermarket and nearby shop later today, the exertion may make me sleepy?? haha. Can’t face town yet.

Booked train tickets and am travelling first class apart from last leg of journey, so will remove tiara at that point. Had to juggle journey a bit so bought 3 different tickets, a little confusing with a dopey head, checked around 50 times, making sure connections etc were fine:smileyfrustrated:

YD off again, short trip this time so she left before I arrived home.

Really enjoyed holiday, very quiet, relaxing and lazy, it was too hot to do anything during the day, we did go out a couple of times but we were so dishevelled and drained haha, everything had to be done at night time, well that meant visiting restaurants…xx

Congrats on finishing the loch swim JCJ. Really Katy did you have to be so noisy? Welcome home, glad you had a good holiday.

Have had an up and down week, the hot weather affects my breathing , a bad night cramp on Tuesday has made walking difficult for the last three days, just about getting to be ok now.  School has been very understanding and gets that a lick and a promise is better than me going off sick when nothing gets done!

BBQ at Son’s tomorrow, he’s a dab hand with a barbie, all family attending so that will be lovely.

Katy, I have pm’d you

Thank you girls:smileyhappy:!!

Hope you have enjoyed your BBQ, FF!

Did go into town early this morning, then up to Mum’s and directly home, had something to eat, lay down on sofa and fell fast asleep, woo hoo!! Have been sleeping terribly so nap was perfect:smileyhappy:

Have my cream so have started treatment.

Don’t know what I managed to do on holiday, but part of my foot and two of my toes are completely black and blue…have no pain whatsoever??? Foot has obviously been bashed haha.

Weather fab again, so nice to have a summer, schools have finished here and for the first time in years and years it’s not raining, woo hoo! xx

You need to take more water with it, Katy! Then you’ll be less likely to bash your feet about without noticing! :stuck_out_tongue:

Had my Friday night chippies in the churchyard again last night. Sounds morbid but there’s a bench in a lovely peaceful spot, surrounded by grass and trees. The park was heaving with teenagers and far too much alcohol again (3 ambulances had to be called last week due to excessive alcohol consumption! Who is selling large bottles of vodka to teenagers??!! :() so I gave it a wide berth. Judging by the whoops, squeals and screams that I can hear from my CBA bench in the garden, tonight is just as bad.

I was wondering if you were suffering with all this dry, hot weather, FF. :frowning: Crank up the fans and the humidifier. I’m donning my feathers to do my rain dance for you.

Apparently, there will be a hosepipe ban here from Monday, so I’ve just used the hosepipe to water the front flower beds. Soooo much quicker than filling umpteen watering cans and I think the tap was actually on for less time! The rainwater butts are less than half full now - (hence using garage tap!)

Message from YD - she’s popping in for Sunday dinner, tomorrow, on her way back from holidaying in The Lakes :).  D-I-L is staying in Preston with old uni friends for a couple of days, so she wont be here. YD has to be back at work on Monday.
