Congrats on the job Choccie. I was self employed for 6 years and it didn’t really agree with me. I’ve been in my current job now for 4-years and I’m much happier - it doesn’t pay as much as I have earned in the past but there’s v little stress, v nice people and I was on full pay for 8 months last year - all through op and chemo, then 1/2 pay for 3 months (covered rads).

I am going to put myself on the very very happy but tired bench today - I have been out and done my bits laid on the sofa heard the letter box go and BANG my cheque has arrived from Macmillan - has anybody any idea how happy I am !!! SSP only whilst off work even though I work for the nhs and now it can go in the bank and actually a bill will get paid ! I am so so thankful… ah and the suns just come out !!! So much smiles has worn me out so gonna have a nap !!!

I only managed an hour and a half today at school - woke up with a headache and nearly didn’t go, but ended up dragging myself there by 11. Probably won’t bother tomorrow. I don’t want them to take it for granted that I’ll be there every day because I’m still officially on sick leave (and have not been off sick at ALL in previous 6 years!!)
Just been and done a big Sainsbury’s (other supermarkets are available! 
) shop just in case I’m not up to it after rads start next week.
Now I’m supping tea on the kn**ered bench and enjoying the perpetual sunshine in benchland - (it’s p-ing down here!) Can’t imagine how I’ll cope when actual fatigue sets in - worn out now - don’t even START rads 'til next Tues!!

I am sat quietly on the chilled and unstressed bench as I am wierdly untroubled by impending redundancy - funny how our perspectives change! Did my cv today but haven’t actually sent it to anyone yet , however spoke to HR today and it seems I have a few more weeks of grace before the final decision - sounds good to me! And it’s great to hear that there are jobs out there if I ever get round to applying for one!
Technical author. It’s a job that’s well within my capabilities, which is a good move for me. There was another one that’s a bit closer and better paid, but more responsibility. I thought I needed to be kind to myself and not put too much extra stress that the other job would have given, so I didn’t even bother applying for it.
Haven’t mentioned ANYTHING about the cancer stuff, and got the job just on my own merits. They might not be too pleased at having to let me off for appointments but hey, they’ll have to deal with that. And at least I’ll boost their figures for employing disabled people without them having to put in extra ramps, lifts and automatic doors…
I was able to make my objections abundantly clear. And because I objected so very strongly they weren’t able to do anything further at this stage. The gloves are off, and I will fight and fight and fight until they overturn the decision they came to and remove the slur on me and my family. I wonder if I can do them for defamation of character…?
Off to bed soon, if I can stop the lunatic bouncing. The only celebrating I did was to drag OH out to the pub for a quick pint during half time of the Chelsea match. He was rather reluctant to come, I reckon he’d rather have watched the match uninterrupted, but he did come out even for just a swift one, and watched the second half on Plus One.

Forgot to say. In all that leaping around on the boingy stuff I managed to land on the Silly Cow bench, after dropping my phone down the loo! Fortunately it was after I’d flushed, and I rescued it almost instantly, but I’m a bit worried that I might have damaged it. So it’s been taken apart and will go somewhere warm to dry out. Fingers crossed, my LIFE is on that phone!

I am going on the very happy bench today !!!
Yesterday I received my cheque from macmillan which is just totally wonderful then last night my hubby announced we are flying to Spain on Sunday for part of my recovery - the famalies have had a whip round as we have NO money and paid for flights !!! We are staying in Murcia with our best mates who are arranging a sunbed in the shade for me next to their pool - I am just so happy… maybe I should be on the smug bench - apologies if I sound like that not intended.

Still, it now means I can have a good weekend. That’s if I can summon the energy lol. Having a pj day today.

I am on the feeling good bench. YD had needle biopsy last week and got results today. All okay, just normal tissue. So relieved that she doesn’t need any treatment and I have not passed on anything nasty to her. She is being referred to the Genetics team for a chat. Love to all on chemo. I am on Xeloda too but on a lower dose than before and managing well so far ( round 3 almost completed). Great news about holidays. Hope it does you all good. Weather here showers all day long. Still in Benchland the sky is aquamarine blue with fluffy skies. Hugs to anyone needing one, love Val

I am in embarrassed mode. Earlier this afternoon I posted this on “Starting rads in March” thread - they now think I am barking mad! (What do I mean, “now”??)
Well I was on the CBA bench today. Not gone into work. Listened to family telling me to rest. Moved over to Craft bench whilst knitting little pink baby stuff for colleague. Now I’m on the F***** Furious bench as I’ve just rung Amazon and BT about our new phones. One of the charging adaptors has broken and, as I only bought the phones 2 months ago (when hubby broke leg so he could answer in bed or on settee and so we could ring each other after my op!)I wanted them to replace it under guarantee. BUT they will only replace the whole lot as it comes as a set: 3 phones, 3 bases, 3 power leads!! I got stroppy - said it was our only land-line phone and I needed it for important medical calls. Amazon have now agreed to send the replacement FIRST and then I can send the broken lead back in the box with the new phones - so I don’t have to transfer all the phone numbers, calls etc form ALL 3 handsets to ALL 3 new ones!! What a stupid waste of time, money and postage, because I bet they’ll sell those brand new phones off cheap - or even bin them! All for the sake of a poxy thruppeny lead! Madness!! Grrrr!
