Support group for secondary BC hampshire/Winchester?

I just would like to say hello to everyone, I have not posted for a while but have been keeping up to date with all your posts. To all you lovley ladies going through your treatment problems, I am thinkingof you, and wishing you all the love and luck in the world. I have been having some pain in my right hip and have scan appointments for the 4th of July. I guess I am expecting the scan results to show new mets/progression. I know how negative I sound but its really because I can’t think that the pain can be being caused by anything else. Also my employer has referred me to OH with a view of beginning Ill Health Retirement which I am quite shocked about as I do not feel that this is the right time, I feel it is far too soon. Anyway, I will keep you all up to date by posting again, as I am unable to make it to our next meet up. Positive hugs to everyone love Kirstie xxxx

Hi girls,

I haven’t been on line for a while.
So much going on here! First to send my best wishes and much love to Anne. Well done Anne for tolerating so much. Hope your face mask is now made for you and your treatment will happen without any more problems.
Sarah, well done too for having your op. Hope you get clear margins asap
Kirsti, sorry to hear that the pain in your hip hasn’t gone away. I really really hope you get some answers with the scan and whatever is the problem ( fingers crossed, irrelevant to cancer) to be fixed.
I am doing ok-ish at the moment. My mouth is like cheese- full of holes called them mouth ulcers. I have scans in 1 month to see if the current treatment works. Well, I know it works for side effects. I hope that except the healthy cells which are certainly damaged some cancerous cells are dead too…
Girls, I need to let the lady in Ginger two cafe know about numbers. Some girls already said can’t make it. :frowning:
Beanbob, sorry, haven’t realised you can only make Fridays. Really sorry.
Kirsti, it would have been nice to see you for a big hug before your scans. I will think of you on 4th of July.
Nicky, I really hope you can make it and I hope your treatment has started.
I hope I will see the rest of you Hampshire girls on Monday. Spread the word. Secondary Girls power!

I’ll be driving to Winchester on Mon, along the M27/M3 from Whiteley junction - anyone want a lift?
Sarah

Hi again all,
thanks for your kind thoughts. Anne had her facemask made and her CT scans done, we will be travelling back to plymouth on wednesday for her treatment. As you can imagine she is absolutely drained by it all and her depression doesn’t seem to want to lift - still waiting for pills to kick in properly.
will speak again soon and hopefully Anne will be able to get to see you all verysoon.
Lots of love

Danny x

Hi girls,
don’t forget our meeting on Monday at 2.30pm in Winchester. Ginger two is the place!
Hope to see you there

Hi Valia
Was hoping to get to meet up tomorrow but will have to give it a miss. Still wearing my airboot for fractured ankle and after six weeks it has put a lot of pressure on my hips and lower back so I have been having to rest a lot more to ease the pain. Thankfully, I have my appt at the orthopaedic clinic on Tuesday so I am keeping my fingers crossed that it has all healed well and that I don’t need physio either.
Sorry to miss meeting you all again but, hopefully, I will make the next meet up when I shall be back to full mobility.
Good luck to you Valia and Kirsti with your scans, fingers crossed. Hope everyone else is coping ok with their treatments, especially Anne and Nicky. Best wishes also to Sarah for your op on Tuesday.

Hi ladies
Sorry but I won’t be able to join you either :frowning: I am temporarily not able to drive so can’t get a lift but also OH and I are having a day out as we were due to be on holiday for a few days and had to cancel.
Really hope I can make another time.
Wishing everyone well, especially Anne with her forthcoming treatment on Weds and to all of you due for scans soon, or more importantly results!

Hello People
I have just had a very pleasant time on the isle of Wight. A great place for a break - not too far to go but you really feel like you have gone away. Only fly in the ointment is that I realised how bad my breathing is getting - struggled going up hills and my daily mileage for walking is well down on last year. Spouse was lovely and we are now paid up members of British Heritage so did lots of Historical House visits and pottering. A bit depressing if I think about it too much, however a stonking toothache has taken my mind of things a bit - will have the devil pulled next Tuesday
It sounds like everyone is going through the mill at the moment Anne’s experience sounds unbelievable I just hope they get right for you this time round. Good luck for scans to all who have them due. You may have tried this already Valia but have tried sucking and ice-cube or a lolly before taking your pills - it helped me when I was on the CMF regime of my chemo, also warm salt mouth washes after eating can dampen down mouth ulcers.
Will post a possible date for the next get together - probably the first Friday in August. Has anyone any thoughts on a venue they would like or does Winchester suit the majority? If not I have a few ideas.
Bye for now Jacqui

Just another update - went to plymouth wednesday - lunchtime CT scan ok, had a look round plymouth and went back for treatment at 4.30 and guess what? the machine wouldn’t work again. waited another 2 and a half hours while they failed to fix it then drove home.
The upshot is that this time they know what caused it and are able to fix it, Initially they thought it was Anne’s ‘plan’ it turns out it is the complexity of the plan and some sort of safety interlock. The physicist spent all day yesterday sorting it and they are ‘very confident’ that there won’t be a problem next wednesday when we nip the 130 miles there and 130 miles back for another go!
They are going to check everything again on monday and tuesday and confirm before we travel on wednesday. They also have a back up plan with the plan split into two which will also have been tested and veriified just in case.
As you can imagine Anne is a teeny bit fed up now and I’m a little miffed too.
Anyway Ladies best wishes to all and special thoughts for anyone having treatment or scans soon.
Going to try to get Anne out in the sunshine over the weekend and I hope everyone manages to have a lovely weekend.

Danny xxx

Fingers crossed for Anne that it all goes according to plan.
To the rest of the team, I will see you at the end of August or September, since I have holiday coming up.
Meanwhile have a lovely weekend. I have just spent all day watching the tennis on tv. What a day! Xxx

It’s DONE!!!
Anne feeling sleepy now after all the stress. But hopefully she will slowly get back to her normal self. I’m sure she will try t catch up with you all soon.
(just give you a taster of how things go for us - all went well until the homeward journey, we had a masive diverson home via crewkerne which added about an hour to the drive because the A35 main road was closed due to an accident)

Take Care All

Danny
xx

Danny, what a relief for you and Anne, best wishes for recovery.

I have good news to share with you all. The tissue results after my 2nd WLE were clear, so given my last clear CT scans on the liver & lungs, my onc has seen fit to describe me as “in remission”.

There’s no way of knowing how long it’ll last, so I’m going to make the most of celebrating it for now.

Sarah.x

Hurrah - two lots of really positive news. Great that you have finally got your treatment going Anne, about time. What good news Sarah - every post like yours is a boost for us all.

How are people fixed for a meet up on Friday 2nd August from about 14.30 onwards? I have two options to put forward - either back at Hedge End M&S because it is an easy run with easy parking or Hilliers Gardens near Romsey. Hilliers have a two places for coffee etc, free parking and the gardens are lovely if people fancy an amble. We could be really optimistic and hope it is nice enough for a picnic. Also I do happen to have a bunch of free passes to the gardens.

If you fancy Hillier’s would anyone be alble to pick up Liz? I will pick up from Winchester.
Look forward to seeing you
Jacquix

Thanks Jacqui, I’m away on holiday on the 2nd, but look forward to catching up next time. Sarah. x

Hi Jacqui
Am happy with either venue as Nick can give me a lift to Romsey so it’s no problem. Will go with the majority option.
Well done Sarah on your good news -enjoy your holiday.
Look forward to seeing you all at the next meeting.
Liz x

Sarah- wonderful news!!! Well done grl. Enjoy your upcoming holiday!
So glad to hear Anne had her treatment too. Wonderful news.
Haven’t heard from Kirsti but just to say your are in my thoughts and hope things are OK with you.
I will be more than happy to meet upon 2nd. Once again I am not entirely sure if I can make it as I have my 3monthly scans on 22nd of July- seeing doctor on 24th. If things are stable ( keep praying) and no different treatments/ proccedures required then I will see you all on 2nd of August. Don’t mind the place. Hillier Gardens more beautiful but happy with M&S also.

All the best girls. Hope you enjoy the summer

Hi ladies
I’m up for the next meet up, unless any extra appointments appear before then, and don’t mind which place we go to, I’m happy to drive anyway - now I’m able to again
Great news from Anne and Danny - hope the recovery period for Anne is short and she notices the good effects of the treatment. Thank goodness you got there in the end as it’s a long way to go each time.
Good news also from Sarah - how great to hear those words! Can’t remember what treatment you are having but it’s doing the trick!
Hi to everyone else on here and hope your treatments are going well.
